Brief question from a newer member:  if I've run once in this series in a GTC car, is there any problem with switching to a GT1 for this event?  Having read the discussion in the 'Season 8' thread, in regards to declining numbers of GT1's, I've had a few practice sessions in the bigger beasts, and was surprised by:  a) the ease of handling of some of them; and b) the 12+ second per lap improvement over my previous GT3 efforts in the Porsches.  If it's thought that newer GTR2 drivers ought to stick to lower series cars, I'll work with that for the remainder of this season.

No - in fact, as long as you're not going to be completely out of control :P please do!

And precedence has already been set as I swapped to GT2 from GT3 in the Lower Endurance  :)

Right gents, I'm planning on running with 20kg as before in UE. For my sake, I hope I can work out why I was so rubbish at Anders....I don't even dislike the track >_<

I'm kinda fed up with the Vertigo :(. I think I'll take the Modena with 40kg for this one.

I've just moved house and have found some free wireless, so I'm going to connect (if there is a space). If I'm lagging too much. let me know asap. If thats the case I'll have to just sit this one out and wait till I get my own connection.

Wireless is not suited for GTR2, so I don't think it's worth to try.

Looks like I'm out of this one. I've just got too much on at the moment.

Really disappointed as I really like this track.

Not sure how good the lister is around here but the Lambo is delight, a right good combination.

As numbers are dwindling in GT1 and as it is unlikely to effect anything much....I will also br moving into GT1 for the rest of this series.

Sadly I do feel you are right, the connection has been up and down all day. So I shall sit this one out, and get on the line to Sky to hurry up with the had line.

Ive had a bit of a nightmare this series lol  2 blown engines, server full, away one race and now a DQ.

Looked like i was pretty competative here with a 2nd in qualy. Car felt good in race, went off on lap 3 i think but when i came round to the last sector of track i got a notice to come in straight away for a stop and go????  Didnt really have much time to actually get in the pits as i was literally right by the pit lane entry as the message came up.

I think i might of moved slightly off the grid before the lights went out on the warmup lap so i guess thats why i got the penalty.

Whata mistaker to maker!!!!!!

Hard Lesson for Noob Switching to GT1 Class #1:

a)  The Lambo Fuel Planner in Set-Up Lies:  you will not get 31 laps for your 100L of fuel, you get 29.5 laps;
b)  Your Crew Chief is a Jerk:  he'll tell you you're low on fuel and need to pit next lap, after you've passed the pit entrance (too late);
c)  The Lambo is 'thirstier' than the game set-up mechanics 'plan' for . . .

(I can hear all the experienced GT1 drivers howling with laughter.)  Running in P3 on lap 30 (mostly due to others pitting), my race ended shortly after Campsa corner, in a splutter--and no, it wouldn't roll far enough to make it 'home'.

There endeth the lesson.   ::)

Great race even though it wasn't a great result, that damn Vertigo just wouldn't go any faster!

Had a great battle with Darren and Reign Man at the start until Reign pulled away and the rampaging Mr Hammer caught us coming into the pits, I came out ahead of Mike but was made mincemeat before too long ;D

Sorry for the contact going into the pits Mike, my fault entirely, you really caught me out, I should have expected you to go into the pits around then :-[

Managed to keep ahead of Darren for the rest of the rest to finish a decent enough 7th :)

Excellent work by the GT1's, absolutely no complaints at all, very courteous and patient. Thank you all :thumbup2:

Well was totally supprised to be the fastest vertigo on the grid, only just mind.
Then blam got disconnected with 3 min to race time, just about made it back in the race but starting from the back.
3rd lap i stupidly span it in a very sturdy wall but with it being right next to the pits i had 2 choices leave with the tail between the legs or carry on and get some learning experience out of it all.
So i carried on and must i say i enjoyed  it in a funny way just hope i didn't get in to many peeps ways from all the lapping on me  ::)

I thought I had time to "just" make a last change before I made it out to the starting grid.. but nhaaaa  was to short out of time and ended up with a DQ... :cursing:
I had high beliefs that I actually would finish this race season in a good manner :clown: SO here goes "really" nothing... ;D
To all the drivers in Pseudo Racing Team... Well done and a Pat on the shoulder for me self to NOT throw the computer out of the window this race   ;D

A very enjoyable first race on the UKGTR server. Thanks everyone.

Spent most of my time a the back of the GT1's but happy overall with my consistency on this track.

Very pleased with P6.

Was feeling pretty good after qualy. Wasn't a perfect lap, but good enough to take GTC first. With Paul and Ruskus behind, both 20kg heavier, I thought I had a good chance of keeping them behind to the pit stops (where they would invebitably blitz past with their top notch pit crews).

Should have known better.

In my efforts to take it easy, and keep safe while tires warmed up, I ran over the inner curibing in T4, and promptly spun around. Was a bad spot to be so I had to move to the inner wall, facing the wrong way, and wait for everyone to pass.

Got back on track, only to go PI Magnum style into the last corner. Or maybe I should say Hammer style, since I'm spinning so much lately.

(http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/2357/grab020py9.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

Well, I just couldn't get mad anymore, I've done this so many times now, so instead I sat in my chair laughing out loud while I was making my way out of the gravel.

Had good fun working my way up the field, many fun battles on the way. Pops fought back hard, but in a duel of straigthline speed vs good cornering (Fezza vs Vertigo), straightline speed will win out most of the time. It's just too easy to pass on the straight, and block in the corner.

Was unable to find my way past Darren for quite a few laps too, pretty defensive driving there. Gave him a punt once, trying to sneak up on the inside exiting the "hairpin" at the end, sorry about that.

I did finally find a spot to make a pass that stuck, and begun the chase on Reign Man. Unfortunately he had just had an off when I cought up, so I could sail by without opposition.

16 minutes to go, 16 seconds to 4th place. Naw, not going to happen, I thought. But it looked (remotely) possible for a while. All the way to 8 minutes the gap kept pace, down to 8 seconds. But form there it just didn't want to budge, not quick enough, at least.

Got within sight of TT towards the end, I think I saw some tire smoke and the gap dropped from 4 to 3 seconds in T1/2, but that was all there was, couldn't come closer.

I chose to use soft fronts, so I would have at least half a stint without the dreadful understeer med/med tires caused. Had some problems toward the end of the stints, sometimes having to pump the gas repeteadly to make the car turn right, but I think it was the right choice nevertheless. Left front just went over 30 at the end of the stints.

Well, had fun once more. This is a great league to race in. Grats to both podiums.

I enjoyed that, my first time out in a GT1 during a mixed class race.

Shame there were so few GT1's though, would have been even better with more people to race.

Race went pretty good on the whole...I was on similar pace to most of the others...(except Alien FreQ  :)). Had a some of offs though, one when a double downshift caught me out and a couple of others whilst passing GTC's. Sorry if it baulked anyone...I have certainly realised I need a little more praccy offline for mixed class stuff...always tended to miss the turn in point and lose loads of time...ended up in the kitty litter twice due to that.

As my first experience of lapping slower cars, I was very impressed by all the GTC drivers willingness to assist.  :) Excellent stuff and again sorry if my lack of experience on the other side caused any trauma.

I do appologise to Ade, he very kindly flashed me passed on the right hander into the back straight and stayed wide to let me through...however, when passing cars there previously I had taken that corner a little wider myself to get the angle down the straight to pass...and I had set up to do the same with Ade...tried to ajust at the last minute when I realised what was happening but still managed to clip the rear right of the Vertigo and send it into the littler  ::)...sorry mate, I did try my hardest to avoid.

Once again a fantastic turnout by the team....

Grats to winners and podiums.....really good race  :)

3375 seconds was my only exciting moment of the race ;D

Practised for a bit before this one, so had a setup ready unlike Anders a fortnight ago. Car was lovely on new tyres but a bit twitchy once they got old. Went a little extreme to get rid of the understeer but it seemed to work :)

Pole was nice, then got a great launch (love the S7's torque) and then just tried to get into a rhythm. Was fine at the start and then it turned into a lapping fest with the (huge) number of GTCs, so I pushed when the track was clear, and then backed off to save the tyres and engine whenever there was traffic to pass (most of the time). Barce is very heavy on tyres anyway, so tyre preservation is part of the strategy.

Good pit stop, took a bit too much fuel, but had a gap anyway. Made one mistake all race which was at T1 when I outbraked myself a little and just skipped across the gravel, losing about 3 seconds, no big deal though.

Good win from the flying Dutchman, and nice one to Simon on second place after another fast but inconsistent drive from Backo (I swear if you calmed down you'd be 20 seconds faster each race).

Sorry about beating the "main team" again, I doubt it'll happen much next season ;) Cheers all

I was really sad to miss out on this one. Barca is one of my favourite tracks and one of my strongest.      Not sure how I would have got on with the lister but I've got good set ups for the lambo to challenge lap records.

That was fun!

I knew i could be a bit more consistent around here than some of the other tracks we've been to so decided to run a low fuel-soft tyres run  for the first time and was pretty happy with my time as i hadnt managed to get under 1.47 in testing and was under 3 secs from the GTC leaders which was a first.

On the pace lap i was finding difficult noticing the brake lights on the back of the predominately red Porsche in front which made for some dodgy moments, sorry to those behind :) Then for most of the first half of the race there was some close racing, as i first closed on Jan Duijs then the guys behind caught up with Ade being right behind me. The gaps then changed a bit as the GT1's started to come through but i managed to close Jan down again and after some really good dicing managed to get down the inside into the final corner. I then managed to pull away slightly and starting thinking about pitting. I tend to run equal stints but noticied i was going to need to pit  few laps earlier than the 40 mins.
I seemed to be slowing abit coming up to the pit stop and got a bit distracted as i had left the window open abit and it was quite humid so I had a load of insects buzzing around me which caused me to downshift into first for the 90deg left, spinning stright infront of Jan who had caught me up. Sorry Jan :)

I knew as i pitted i need more fuel than i planned but i guess i still didnt put enough in so as i was running in 17 towards the end, pretty much status quo with everyone and with 1 lap to go i had to stop again which meant i dropped right back.

The GT1's were great all the way though, so thanks

Congrats to both podiums, well done guys

Cant wait for the next one now!

Before the race I switched to the Modena, because i thought it would give me closer racing, because the car is more equal to the other GTC's. I was right :).

Just couldn't get in a good lap during qually, I always messed up one sector. Sometimes I was 0.2 up and then lose it all.
So I had to settle for 3rd behind Paul.

Got off to a good start and could hold on to Paul and Mike. Mike soon found a bananapeel and we were in 1st and 2nd.
I always find it very hard to follow Paul, as he brakes very early, so I had a few scares early on.
With Mark and TT right behind me, I had to push hard to stay in 2nd. A few times I had to fend off the Porka of Mark, as it's faaaast down a straight line  :o.
I noticed that Paul was sliding a lot, but at that point, so was I :P.
At some point he drifted to much and I got the momentum out of the corner, and could get on the outside of Campsa.
There was a great 4 car train up till that point :).

I pitted a bit earlier, to get fresh tyres and a splash of fuel. WHen Paul has done its stop I was 7s infront. It all of a sudden went to 12s, so I could take a bit of pressure off and save tyres.
He was slowly gaining towards the end, but I had enough of gap.

Very good race this, and I'm happy I took the Modena. Although an understeering pig, it's much better for racing than the VertiZZZZzzzzzzz.....

It's true FreQ,but I've got my style of driving which I really enjoying. ;)I did also a lots mistakes trough race, because I didn't any practice before at all. I joined on server little be lucky on qualification 2 (full -28 people!!!) with any setup,so I'm very happy with 3'th but I could be 2'th , I had nice time and challenge with S. Gymer,I was faster in curves and on brake ,he was faster on straight  :o :o :o .Amazing moments!!!Also I had small accident with some GTC cars ,after that I was out of track that cost me about 20sec.I'm really enjoyed race.!!!! ;D Well done  guys on podium GT and GTC class! :D

Not my best race but a really intense experience, especially the first half. Qual was as good as I was likely to get and being ahead of Jeff was nice, although Mike got a good lap in to take pole. When Mike started to spin slowly in front of me on lap 1 I could see us both going off, but luckily managed to dodge round him without losing the place to Ruskus. I then had him nipping at my heels for ages as I struggled with the car. Seeing the high temps in practice I opted for med/hard tyres, which was safe but a bad choice in the circumstances as the temps stayed low. Left with a rather oversteery car (hence the sliding Jeff) I was always on the defensive and couldn't get close to my normal times in race trim. In the end I made a mistake at the bottom of the hill before Campsa and Jeff was quickly alongside and then past. Mark also got level at the end of the back straight and we went side by side all the way round. I left room for him at the next right but he backed off a bit early which caught TT out and he nudged Mark into the gravel. This left me with some breathing space and meant I could keep up the pressure on Jeff. He pitted slightly early, and I would have liked to do so too, but I knew fuel would be tight and wanted to make sure I got an automatic splash in the pits. I then had the same problem as the previous week, when my pit request fell on deaf ears and I ended up doing 2 extra laps on worn tyres, probably costing at least 4 seconds. By the time I came out the lead was therefore 7 secs, with Mark 15 secs back. I was keeping up with Jeff and even closing slightly, but was conscious that Mark was in the zone and closing fast. I then made things much worse by concentrating too hard on a lapping GT who I didn't totally trust not to dive for the apex and stupidly missed a gear change and ended in the gravel. From then on it was all about keeping Mark at bay as Jeff was too far away to challenge. The gap was down to 4 secs at one point but then stabilised and went up a bit near the end, leaving me to finish 2nd (and with 6 laps of fuel on board  ::)).

Congrats to Jeff for being just a bit too fast throughout. Mark was really quick too and without the first half tap might have even had a shot at the win (sorry TT). Congrats too to Freq for yet another win - 20kg is for wimps  ;). Hard luck to the other kerbies who seem to have had incident packed races. Nice to see though that we've got the lead in the team GTC championship now  :)

Good fun overall. I was having a good battle with a couple of other GTC cars when I got a bag full of neutrals in the last turn, not recommended! Then sat in the gravel trap trying to snatch a gear. Got going and managed to finish.

The whole show in GTR 2 is soooo..very more polished than the other sim bin sims.

After a commotion up front, change of the lead and all, I felt blood, was on trail and chasing.  :ninja: A rookie mistake and all other bad and worse things to put beside it.  :-X  It ruined my race as well, after I recovered and decided not to quit the race after all, I had a boring race. Didn't want to chase Mark, and the next car was a long time after me so I was driving like in a time-trial.  :(  I feel bad also, 'cause there was a great string of four cars, all with equal possibilities and after a fair amount of practice my car also felt great.  :-\  Almost like Dubai.  ;)
Nothing to do but say: "I'm sorry!" to Mark. Oh, and write a report.  ;)

TT

Great race right up until the point were I put the Psuedo F550 in to the wall and it then caught alight :-\ Sorry Boss

Qualyd 5th and near the start of the race Gazzas UE problems continued and he retired giving me 4th. Dave and Psuedo got close behind me and Dave gets me on the final corner putting me back in 5th. Psuedo gets very close then we catch the GTCs but Dave makes a mistake and I manage to get back 4th. Dave is on me big time and I go defensive but it is not enough and he gets me in the final corner again (Very nice battle Dave ;D). I am back to 5th but I manage to get Dave in the pit. After all the pit stops play out I am up to 3rd as Backo makes a mistake. I hold 3rd for a long time but Backo is very quick and easily takes 3rd back. As I am trying to maintain speed and worried about Dave and Psuedo catching up I start to push hard. At the end of lap 37 I lose it at the final corner after taking too much curb, I snake then go straight into the wall. Kept the engine running and tried to pull away but the engine caught fire :o. End of race :(

Much fun was had by me :D

Was a very good race last night.  It was one of those where you need eyes on the back of your head ;D,very exciting stuff.   I was trying to get Jeff but had to keep tabs on TT as to his where abouts :ninja:, Managed to get alongside Jeff heading into T1 but i couldnt take the place as jeff had to turn in sometime and as he did he kept his spot.  I had been looking to pass Paul straight after Jeff got thru but i gotta a shock when TT and i touched, didnt know what hit me ;)

After that i just tried to get back in touch with Paul but never could, after the pitstops i got within viewing distance but that was it.

PS. TT, now i really do owe you one lol

Cheers Mark.

Great racing yesterday in the back of the lot as well. Especially tight in the beginning, with four cars in close pursuit and then Mike showed up to regain his lost positions and mixed it up even more.

Only hairy moment was near the midpoint of the race, when approaching Campsa I ran wide in the chicane on my worn tyres. Unfortunately at just that moment Backo was making his pass in the GT1 car and touched my rear, sending me spinning into the wall and puncturing a tyre. Luckily I was going to pit in at the end of the lap anyway, so little time lost there. Sorry for the scary moment!
