Well I needed 2 stops and the fact that others ran out of fuel suggests they also needed 2.
hehe, you know racing is not only to drive as fast as you can. it includes also a strategy part.^^
you did 4 complete laps + maybe 500m. thats enough to finish the race with only one stop. the secret is, that you had to do your stop after lap3.
your plan:
stint1: 4laps + GP part; stint2: 3laps
the right plan: 3laps + GP part; stint2: 4laps
all others who ran out of fuel did the same mistake.
and i guess it was bill who showed, that you can do also 4 laps + GP part if you change your style/gearbox and save enough fuel.
I think confusion reigned over the pitting
- there are no Pit Signs. I take Mike's point about doing the Stadium Section twice, the lap counter coped OK I ran 6 laps and that's what Xd told me.
Tony I didn't find the way in you suggested
(didn't know it existed - had seen chat about a cheat in the past
) but guess after that last tight Chicane you go straight on rather than bear left into the Stadium. I've never used the pit entrance I used before as we've never had an enduro here before. I assumed that that was the correct entry for this variant of the track.
Can any Ring specialist tell use which is the correct race entrance used in the 24 hr race here?
Finally, with all this confusion, I guess we could have been DQed for leaving the track contrary to the Race Director's instructions.
I accept the result Tony.
Bill
you were one of the guys who did the correct pit entrance during the race.
the shortcut, which we are talking about is on the start-finish straight. before you pass the finish/start line there are some cones on the right hand side. there you can leave the track in the pitlane;)
if we come to the nordschleife in the le mans series, you will see, that this shortcut doesn't work on this version. if you still use it, you your lap doesn't count and you have to do one more lap.
