Is there a way to save more than one setup at a track for a car? I have tried renaming setups, like one for race & one for qually, but it just seems to overwrite the existing one, even though I have given it a different name. Am I doing something wrong?

If there is I haven't found it. Seems to be a current limitation. A bit naff. So far, I have setups for some tracks, fast tracks/medium and slow At a new track, I load one of the others, and then rename it.
Not got to "qual" setups. The soft tyres are qual tyres. they will be no use for a race.

It works ok for me - see screenshot with race and qually setups saved for the same car/track. Geoff, are you sure you are changing the filename and not just renaming the description. The filename box at top left can be easily missed, but this is the important bit.

Yes Frex, I think you are right, I am just changing the description. Thanks.

Um.. me too
I've been doing some practice at Dubai. Not sure if there actually is less grip ? sand? But it's not fun in these cars. Or I least it isn't for me. So I am changing the last event to probably Zandvoort, as it was supposed to be in the season for 2020, and, it drives nicely in these. Other option was Indianapolis, Paul Ricard, or Russia. Haven't tried Russia yet, so not cast in stone.

Thx for the setups, Pffff no easy cars to drive, even more difficult than FRJ. Still learning to get easy on the throttle at corner exit. Question: I cant get a propper start, any tips. Now starting in second gear

Go to engine map 1 or 2 in the start.
EDIT: Also if you're having trouble finding the throttle sweet spot, upping throttle sensitivity (linearity) to 100% helps for me. Same trick that tames the DTM 2020.

Can you change maps while on track? missed that one, must set a key for that. I have been starting in 3rd.... not sure I like the idea of moving maps up and down at different parts of the track, but I guess it's how it is. I have been testing at the other tracks, and this one is maybe the hardest because of these tight corner exits. Silverstone is an absolute hoot Oddly, I found setting throttle sensitivity to "0%" made it easier to drive Still can't just stand on the pedal out of these awkward off camber slow corner exits and I still have to do a lot of short shifting. Seems that the tyre model is like the AC one where cold tyres have no grip, and the brakes are cardboard until you get them glowing I have fine tuned the V12 setup and uploaded the new version. name is the same as before.

You can indeed set buttons to switch engine maps on the fly. With engine map 3 and your V8 setup it seems perfectly fine, as long as the wheel is pointing straight and all tyres are on tarmac I can just floor it from the hairpins (in 2nd gear) and it goes straight, no problems.
First lap will require extra care. I assume there's no way to do a warm-up lap?

We could make it a rolling start. Though that's not realistic, it might be safer?

Its never the starts, more arriving at the first corner all at once which you get with a standing start

Either way, it could be an issue. The starts in these remind me of the GTL starts at Daytona, starting on the banking slope. People go sideways without care.

I wont be doing these races. They really don't appeal to be raced. The Merc showed me that with trying to race people where any difference in driving style, braking distances and now at a higher speed, with even less notice, will be a nightmare.

I found the best way to start is give it about half revs in first & let the clutch out slowly keeping the revs constant, when clutch is all the way out ease more throttle on or change to 2nd & give it some more revs.
Tried the V10 with engine map 3 & medium tyres, just got into the 1.16s with it. With soft tyres & map 5 I got to 1.14.8. Surprised how much difference map 5 makes to the straight line speed but its virtually undrivable on the medium tyres, well you need to be ultra careful anyway.
