Moderator's Report

PRibeiro joined in a scoring car despite being a Masters driver. The Masters should take non-scoring (G2 or GT3) cars so that they don't have any direct effect on the Clubmen championship.

As a one off, his car has been classified in G2. In future, we will probably exclude such drivers from the results.

A few reserve drivers joined before the start of Practice 2; all drivers are reminded that they should join in the correct session.

Server replay time: 1312s

Backo is challenging Kerr for the lead as they race down the Flight Straight. Popabawa and Munkez are ahead and about to be lapped, and Backo is on the left and about to suddenly run out of road as he uses the 550's huge straightline speed advantage to get alongside Kerr, who misinterprets Popabawa's slight course correction as he tucks back over to the left ready for T2, and Brian suddenly moves left as he thinks he is about to run into the back of the Vertigo.

Unfortunately, Backo is right there and has to run off the circuit to avoid a big accident, losing 7 spots in the process (and a further place waiting to rejoin safely).

I've no reason to believe that this was anything other than a racing incident, although Backo put himself into a position with no Plan B, and Kerr should really have been aware of which side Backo was coming down and gone right and not left.

  • BACKOadvice — always have a Plan B
  • Kerr (Brian Kerr)advice — maintain better situational awareness

Server replay time: 2239s

Jure is about to lap Anthony's M3 as they exit Startkurven. Ant hesitates for a moment about which way to go, then moves back to the left, but Jure has started to commit to the left also. Anthony then lifts off the throttle before Jure has a chance to duck right and the result is inevitably an accident.

Server replay time: 3126s

CE is chasing PaulW for 8th as he comes up to lap Popabawa. CE passes under braking for T2 but runs just a fraction too deep into the corner and drops a wheel off onto the dirt, sliding back on and collecting Pops. CE then does a good job rejoining safely on the inside of Laktar without impeding Pops any further.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 4075s

Jure, who is being chased by Picnic and is chasing Dirk, catches Eddie Meyer and Anthony Humphreys as they arrive at T4. The faster car passes Eddie on the brakes but catches Anthony unawares and there is some relatively mild side contact mid-corner.

Congratulations to GT1 podium Wink
Didnt do any lap at qual 1, qual 2 was under wet track, so i managed
qual in 21th. As i did 6-7 laps at dry tarmac practice, i used that setup
for race, wich worked quite well.
hard tires for 50 mnts first race session and soft tires for last 30 mnts,
air and track temps should help me on this strategy, as they did. Grin
I had lots of fairplay fights with Popabawa, Munkez , SBGinsters, and more 1 or 2 fair guys
(sorry, dont remember the names) thanks all for the excelent driving Wink
well done to the others also Smiley

Cheers

Man I'm angry with myself. Sold that one.

My car was nowhere near as quick as practice sessions or as it has been every other day mid to low 1.25.. I did notice after the race the temperature was lower than practice sever and my tyres were not at correct temperature's, so must be that.

Had a few battles throughout the race and some a bit dirty at times, a guess racing so close it's going to happen sometimes.

Lost a little time in the pits getting damage repaired after a rear shunt and was amazed to come back out in first.

I had plenty to spare so just saving the car as felt good after repair. Gap came down to 5-6sec with 8Min's or so to go and I was maintaining it. Stupidly lining up a move on back marker between last two bends I put wheel on grass and lost it, how stupid of me!!!

That was the viper right on my tail and that thing had way too much pace and nailed me on the straight.

Thought I had a chance to nick it back when Mark was help up by back maker. Accelerated too early out of bend and ended up on grass and lost another place.

Other than that it was very fast and furious, great fun

What a plum!!!
Fueled myself short by 5 or so laps!! cant get the hang of this pit board? when it comes up and lists fuel with tyres and so on, what are the Numbers next to it?

Congrats to podium and thanks to the GT1 cars for not barging their way through on such a twisty circuit  Kiss

definately not my race  Embarrassed Qualified a bit down the grid as usual, lost a couple of places in the beginning. Usually I gain again by being stable, but not today Undecided

Really had problems finding my pace, probably because I a Corvette stuck to my bumper for the most part of the 1st stint  Grin  Dave managed to pass me in the pitstops though, which was fair enough as I was way to slow to keep him behind me anyway.

Apologies to Popobawa for pushing you, I was to focused on cathing the GT car in front of me and made a hazardous overtaking  Roll Eyes

Finished off my race with a spin and on the last lap I ran out of fuel  Roll Eyes

Oh well, back to the drawing board  Wink

Naff first GT1 outing for me in endurance.

Qualied well in 5th despite the damp 2nd sesh meaning i couldnt get near my PB.

Race start wasnt so great, think i got a tap out of T2 that sent me spinning off a long way on the grass, dropping me from 4th to 13th :'(
Fought my way back up the grid by a few places but then had no fewer than 3 seperate off's on my own whilst looking at my bloody GTRPD on the 2nd monitor, what a stupid clown cursing  In all they cost me something like 45 seconds so had no hope of ever catching the fast moving front pack. Only myself to blame and brought the car home a rubbish 9th place, 20 odd seconds behind 8th despite a stronger showing in the second half of the race.
Need to find more pace here as people were leaving me for dead on the runway straight. Sad

Congrats to Mark Mc for his great win, you were flying in that viper ! thumbup1 and thanks to the GT2/GTC guys for driving well. thumbup2

i had a fun race, was driving om 9th place, when suddenly a Porker GT2 appeared froozen in a corner, couldn't go around anymore, so lost my 9th place, after that somebody hit me in the rear on the straight at start/finish, so i went into the wall.

Whooo! A GTC win! First blood to the Legends in the 1st round of Grand Prix de Vertigo Smiley

I was well chuffed to get GT2/GTC pole but I was incredibly lucky to put in a really good lap in Q1 when the downpour before Q2 slowed everyone down.

The race started well when I manged to create a small gap to the rest of the pack but eventually PRibiero and Munkez ran me down before my dastardly quick pit-stop put me back in the lead. Unfortunately, some contact with an overtaking GT put me off the track and my nice cushion to PRibiero evaporated and there wasn't anything I could do to avoid getting eaten up on the straight. Good job by Pribiero though with a quick and consistent drive to take GT2.

I have to say there was faily 'optimistic' overtaking on a few occasions with the GT's but they were the exception Smiley

My race went pretty well, the change in conditions between the qualifying periods caught me out - I was about a second off my PB.  Quiet few laps, avoiding what trouble did occur.  Sat behind Pops in the tasty Legends Vertigo, and it remained that way until PRibeiro and Munkez got close enough to gt by on the straight.  After that the gap was steady, just waiting for the pit-stop for a new lease of life.

Came into the pits after getting a worn tyre message .... only to find Martin in my pit-slot.  Gutted.  Apologies for the little nudges Martin - I was trying every which way to get the stop started.

After finally pitting I was way behind Pops, as I was only a few seconds down before the pit.  Caught up with Don in the TVR, only managing to get by at Karusell after a mistake by Don.  After that I put the hammer down to try and make some sort of dent in the lead whoever it was in front of me had......put some fast laps in but still the gap only got down to 14.5secs I think.  After a few little mistakes to run wide onto the gravel and a spin, any hope of catching up was gone.  To be fair, I was only pushing so hard as I was really annoyed after the pit, had things gone to plan I would have played it a bit safer in a bid to catch Pops.

Still, a Legends 1 & 3 in the GTC for a solid start, and an added bonus in it being a 2 & 4 in the GT2 class.  We'd best make the most of it as I think we're going to get murdered by just about every other car at Silverstone.....

Nice solid performance, from me and my computer/internet connection, shame that the same old GTR2 bugs fecked it up for me and cost me a place.

I'll give you the bad news first,

1st quali hit a spinner, but hea ho no panic always q2 I thought. Buggger. The rain really put a spanner in the works. Not sure this a great innovation, as it almost turns quali into a lottery. Feel it would be fairer to make quali's equal length, or same weather
We ordered calling via internet, which should start the 5th of april, but the provider just had to test things tonight Undecided.

Are you saying that you decided to join tonight to test your connection? Not to chuffed if thats the case, cause I whacked your ghost car and lost any chance of catching pops. If it was unforeseen then no worries.

Plenty more good new though,
standards were excellent from everyone, especially the gt boys. Made it a real blast racing.

Sorry don't know everyones names yet but enjoyed a few battles with faces new to me that were great fun. A few bumps and bruise given/received just added to the fun Smiley.

I was enjoying so much I even let Paul 956 through to make his day. I did ok boss? Wink

First blood to pops and leg-ends. But its a marathon not a sprint Tongue

I had the same, for what it's worth. Practising beforehand I'd spent ages balancing the pressure and camber and got the fronts, for example, at a nice regular 78/82/85 ish temperature. In the sessions prior to the wet one the front were down in the 69-74 range. I think the time of day was teh same so that's a bit odd. Same for everyone though I guess.

If people were wise enough to notice the drop in temperature, I'm sure it was always 30 on practice server and 20 tonight, I'm sure they would have acted accordingly. I had too much understeer tonight

I think I can be quite happy with my 4th place (and only 7 secs behind the winner[grats Mark]). This was my 2nd GTR2 racing ever (first was here a while ago with the Gillet Vertigo at Spa) and my first race with the Lambo and my longest race ever. Grin Maybe I was a bit too conservative (did not want to make a displeasing first appearance on my first league night here)and a bit unlucky at the end with passing backmarkers so that I lost 2 places but that's racing. Wink Grats to podium and thanks all for good racing! Cheesy
