Moderator's Report

PRibeiro joined in a scoring car despite being a Masters driver. The Masters should take non-scoring (G2 or GT3) cars so that they don't have any direct effect on the Clubmen championship.

As a one off, his car has been classified in G2. In future, we will probably exclude such drivers from the results.

A few reserve drivers joined before the start of Practice 2; all drivers are reminded that they should join in the correct session.

Server replay time: 1312s

Backo is challenging Kerr for the lead as they race down the Flight Straight. Popabawa and Munkez are ahead and about to be lapped, and Backo is on the left and about to suddenly run out of road as he uses the 550's huge straightline speed advantage to get alongside Kerr, who misinterprets Popabawa's slight course correction as he tucks back over to the left ready for T2, and Brian suddenly moves left as he thinks he is about to run into the back of the Vertigo.

Unfortunately, Backo is right there and has to run off the circuit to avoid a big accident, losing 7 spots in the process (and a further place waiting to rejoin safely).

I've no reason to believe that this was anything other than a racing incident, although Backo put himself into a position with no Plan B, and Kerr should really have been aware of which side Backo was coming down and gone right and not left.

  • BACKOadvice — always have a Plan B
  • Kerr (Brian Kerr)advice — maintain better situational awareness

Server replay time: 2239s

Jure is about to lap Anthony's M3 as they exit Startkurven. Ant hesitates for a moment about which way to go, then moves back to the left, but Jure has started to commit to the left also. Anthony then lifts off the throttle before Jure has a chance to duck right and the result is inevitably an accident.

Server replay time: 3126s

CE is chasing PaulW for 8th as he comes up to lap Popabawa. CE passes under braking for T2 but runs just a fraction too deep into the corner and drops a wheel off onto the dirt, sliding back on and collecting Pops. CE then does a good job rejoining safely on the inside of Laktar without impeding Pops any further.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 4075s

Jure, who is being chased by Picnic and is chasing Dirk, catches Eddie Meyer and Anthony Humphreys as they arrive at T4. The faster car passes Eddie on the brakes but catches Anthony unawares and there is some relatively mild side contact mid-corner.

Hopefully I got all the cars types identified correctly, however I couldn't identify the forum ID for Mark McClean our race winner! Can you let us know please Mark Wink

What a frustrating end to the race. After the sprint on Tuesday I knew 83ltr was enough for 40 mins but tonight my first session I was using no where near that. Pitted with 41 mins to go having only used 60 ltrs. Didn't think to check and with 3 mins to go the pit crew came on to tell me to pit for fuel! WTF. Used 30% more fuel per lap in the 2nd half of the race  Undecided

Had to pit at the start of the last lap with 2ltr in the tank, not enough for another lap in the MC12.

Also never bothered to attempt to qualify in Q1, know better now!

I hope the NGT/GTC gang found my driving acceptable, it's definitely an art to pass the slower cars. Several times I got caught at the long right hander at the end of the lap and found it cost me over a second to the car in front. Much easier being in the slower class  Tongue

Are you saying that you decided to join tonight to test your connection? Not to chuffed if thats the case, cause I whacked your ghost car and lost any chance of catching pops. If it was unforeseen then no worries.

No, we ordered it and it should have started the 5th of april. But for some reason the provider did some tests to see if we all had it hooked up yet Undecided. Great thing if they don't warn you, or else I wouldn't have joined.

Really had problems finding my pace, probably because I a Corvette stuck to my bumper for the most part of the 1st stint  Grin  Dave managed to pass me in the pitstops though, which was fair enough as I was way to slow to keep him behind me anyway.

After a stupid mistake when I ran off I was out of position and struggling to actually get past people without mistakes. I decided to switch pit strategy and go early to get past you which worked out pretty well. Cool

I was very lucky both in setting a reasonable time in Q1 - was on for a better one at the end of Q2 but was unlucky enough to lose it over the curbs in front and it was session over. Sad

Also got lucky with the fuel - meant to fill to about 90 in my stop but filled to 100 in the end - would've been sailing close to the wind had the race gone for one more lap on 90, as it was finished with about 19 left but consumption was higher than I expected.

I believe that's 'stnasky' - I think I will have to do some fiddling of the results because some Masters joined in scoring cars (PRibeiro for example). I also noticed that at least two reserves joined before the end of practice 1. Angry

Dave, I just checked the replay and it shows me vanish just before the last corner before the finish line. I was in 19th at that point with over 30 secs on 20th. I finished the race and got the pit message on my PC and then lost connection on the turn after the finish line !?!!. Server results also say 49 laps. Hope I can get 19th awarded otherwise it is really frustrating to be classed as DNF.

I cant believe GTR is that flaky with the connections.

Hi well done all what was it with the damp praccy then dry race. Luckily I had some sort of slick on but a wet set up.that caught me out well and truly. I do not like the track anyway but at least I seem to have more control with my new equipment.cheers gerald

I didn't really have the kind of race I was hoping for.
Couldn't get a decent lap in the damp Quali conditions and started near the back.
Managed to hold on at the end of the tail till the GT's cars came round and then found myself being knocked off the track. Tight circuit and I know it's not easy to pass, but I was bumped off on 3 separate occasions! I Just hope things settle down in the next race.
Most of the GT's were understanding and patient and I can understand it's a difficult circuit to pass on.

Sorry to Pribero and PW must have scared you on the start of the last lap, I thought the race had finished (looking at the timer) and threw it off the track round turn 1!
and also sorry to Ruf, contact into the last turn, I was unsighted and thought you had already powered through.
Grats to the early championship leaders.

That's a shame; sorry, as a matter of policy we always take the result as it appears on the server. You've been awarded 21st instead of 19th which is 2 points different but you still get 2 points and a classified finish.

For once I had a properly stable connection, and I must say "thank you" to all the slower class cars who were all very easy to pass (I think I had just one confusing moment coming out of turn 1 when I tried to pass to the left and the lapped car wanted to move left to let me by) even when I had to do so under braking whilst trying in vain to put some pressure on Picnic ahead.

I hope it rains for the Masters event next week... I'd like to see my one and only lap record last longer than a week! Tongue

I didn't realise that PRibiero was in a scoring car but officially in the Masters, will that mean his result doesn't count?

Sadly I think not. Which remarkably means that a Vertigo won in GT2/GTC!

Yes, I have been using ISDN before anyone asks. Tongue

That way it stresses the server less, and it will cause less problems (lag etc) IIRC.
