Had my first run in this car & pretty much matched Riccardo's times from when we raced the GpCs here before with nearly default setup, just changed gearing & put engine map on 4. Tried map 5 but it will take a brave man to keep it on track for 30mins with that much power. Best leaderboard times are under 2mins so clearly a lot more time to be found.

Hehe. Some of the cars - the F1 90s, and a few others have a choice of engine mapping map 1 is low power, up to map 5 that is max power. Some (these are too old I think) also have push to pass like DRS. I don't like those as there is too much to think about.
I have a left button on the wheel for reduce map, and one on the right for increase mapping Or, you can just set it in the setup if you are never going to change it on track Some cars have an option to reduce engine braking if it wants to swap ends on corner entry.
I tend to just set it up in setup screen and leave it

Thanks for this info. Just went in and tried it. There is also an explanation of how engine mapping works. Seems that the higher the map #, the more fuel you burn. Probably a consideration for endurance events but not for a 30min sprint. If I get these cars (waiting for a sale to happen) I'll turn mine up to 11.

Did also a first AI race with these cars. Pffffffff no easy car`s to drive. I find these car`s way more difficult than the Salleen. Currently only using engine map 2 and 3 (4 is to difficult for me ). Doing no a sporadic 2:13.5 and steady 2:15.

We have used these before with mixed success. Amazing cars if you learn them, but not an easy drive. After an hour or so trying to get an easier drive, if slower setup, I gave up and went with a slightly modified default which is actually well balanced. And with map 4 I managed a 2:11. If you are not then you may need to do a lot of short shifting they understeer a lot, and the back end wants to be the front end out of slow corners, and reduce wing at you peril Patience is a virtue with these, but worth the effort. If I get a setup that tames them without being dog slow, I will post it.

today I tried and I did not remember that these cars were so difficult, with mapping 3 you can drive, with mapping 4 it is already difficult to stay on the track, with 5 it is impossible, the power comes suddenly and without realizing you are already on the wall . I don't understand how they do those times in lederbord.

I'd better have Map 0.5 then Other question, normally you can change the engine mapping while driving. But in these cars it seems that that is impossible (seems logical because the age of these car's). With the FR90 i did engine map 1 for the start, when tires where cold for the first laps engine map 3, and then swithing to 5. Here you need to decide before race start.

Worth waiting for Black Friday in case there is a sale though as most individual cars and tracks get discounted by 50%. If there isn't a Black Friday sale there will almost certainly be a Winter/Christmas sale at some point.
That's a good point. Fingers crossed. Black Friday sale on Steam will start tomorrow, not sure about the discount. Previous year it was 50% for cars/tracks and 25% for a pack.

Having tried a lap or two(literally) on sunday, not particularly looking forward to this. Very little braking and oversteer!

How do I find out how much fuel to have for a 30min race or is it done automatically?
