1561  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: F2 Fun Race - Friday 24th August - Tulln Langenlebarn on: August 24, 2012, 09:38:33 AM +0100
Joseph,
If original F1 works but F2 is crashing it might be a problem with the Rasteriser (check box option in GEM). If I remember correctly F2 won't work with Open GL but is fine with Open GLv2. If you don't have an option for Open GLv2 then you'll have to download it.

Joseph,
Wouldn't worry about VROC - all UKGPL races are run through IGOR.
1563  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: F2 Fun Race - Friday 24th August - Tulln Langenlebarn on: August 23, 2012, 02:59:35 PM +0100
Cookie,
Are you sure the update makes such a difference on lap times? The graphics are better & the main straight is very bumpy with the update.
I installed the original version a couple of weeks ago. I’m guessing my times are quite slow – mainly because I can’t carry any speed through the last hair-pin. PB was 1.09.
After installing the update last night the best I could do was a 1.10, with the same set up. So there might be a 1 second difference. The obvious factor would be the bumps on the main straight – but the split times in Prib indicate this is making very little difference.
My guess is that it would not be a good idea to run a championship race here if drivers can get an advantage by using the original version of the track.
Friday is a fun race. I suggest we all use the update – WITH THE BUMPS.
Comments welcome …

Joseph - have a look here

Hope to see you Friday, either on track or the UKGPL chatroom in IGOR.

Fulvo - thanks for setting the server.

Martin - the track update certainly enhances the visual effects - but the the main straight is a like riding a pogo stick.

... spare a thought for Axel, the unluckiest competitor who did not complete a single lap at Snetteron or Monza 10K (although probably with some unwanted help).
This can be very frustrating - particularly when you have prepared yourself for a long race.
1567  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 23 (2012) - Monza (Full 10km) - Aug 19 on: August 20, 2012, 12:19:42 AM +0100
I'm not entirely sure why I organise these (almost) full length races - as I have a habit of not finishing any of them. A bit too hot to race tonight - well that's my excuse!
As ever congratualtions to the finishers - Hristo, Andreas & Phil.
I am declaring Andreas as the unofficial endurance champion - as the only driver to finish both the long distance races at Snetterton & Monza.
1568  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / F2 Fun Race - Friday 24th August - Tulln Langenlebarn on: August 20, 2012, 12:11:12 AM +0100
One more fun race for this Friday.
This is a trial for a possible substitution of track in the Formula 2 series. Tulln Langenlebarn – try saying that after six pints. Seems to have been neglected by UKGPL over the years.
It is, however, on the F2 Rank – quite a short track but a couple of challenging corners to master.
Free choice of chassis.
Advanced damage model – no Stop & Gos but you are only permitted a maximum of 2 x Resets.

1569  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: Season 23 Novices Trophy Registration on: August 16, 2012, 10:32:25 PM +0100
Boggy,
The 1965 mod is the most popular. We run 3 different leagues Novices, Intermediate & Pro. We will start you off in the Novices - if you are too quick you may get promoted.
It  is a free choice of chassis.
First Novice race is on 11 Sept at Spa then every other Tuesday.
At the moment its mid-season. We have a few fun races before the championships restart in September.
Let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi Boggy & welcome to GPL. We'll get your registration sorted out.
Are you "new" to GPL or do you have some experience - maybe a GPL rank?

Frame rate was dreadful - max. 22fps.
Clutch failed to engage - so I jump started.
Retired with a DQ - but have the football on record.

Gareth (& others),
It's the track with NOchicanes. Apologies if the link caused confusion - I copied this from somewhere else. Now corrected!

Bernie,
It's a fun race - appreciate 37 laps round the banking is not everyones idea of fun. For those who prefer something else you could try "www.nippleclamps.com".

Just for fun … on Sunday19 August
Another [almost] full length Grand Prix race. This time using the Monza 10km track with the original 1967 cars. Something that should require almost zero practice but maximum staying power. Not quite a free choice of chassis – anything apart from a Lotus or an Eagle. A tactical choice – will you take the Ferrari or the Brabham with their superior handling or go for the engine power of a BRM or Honda?
Due to the extended race length qualifying will be a minimum of 15 minutes with race to start at 21.15 UK time.

Well done to Andreas & Bernie for going the distance.
I paid the price for not practicing on race fuel, overran a & got stranded on the banking. No way back on Pro settings!
Any one have problems with screen freezes etc?
