1576  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 23 (2012) - Snetterton - Aug 3 on: August 02, 2012, 11:48:19 AM +0100
Hristo / Goran,
As the race is tomorrow evening I think it is too short notice to change the track. We did a couple of F2 races in pre-season at Snetterton & I'm not aware there were any problems. I think this is the best compromise in the time available.
There are a few 69X races planned during August, so you'll get a chance to run this mod.

1577  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 23 (2012) - Snetterton - Aug 3 on: August 01, 2012, 11:09:46 PM +0100
Bernie / Andreas,
Thanks for the feedback. It seems as though the combination of 69X & this track just don't mix very well.
The mod team is planning to run a few other 69X races in the season break. So we can still have a race I suggest we change the Mod to Formula 2 - everything else stays the same - Snetterton 67. Minimum of 15 minutes qualifying with Race proper at 9.15. 60 Laps on Pro settings. Free choice of chassis.
We did an F2 Race here pre-season so it should not cause any problems.
Main Race post will be changed!
1578  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 23 (2012) - Snetterton - Aug 3 on: July 31, 2012, 01:01:30 PM +0100
On second thoughts .... 80 laps could well extend the race beyond 1hr 45 mins. Using a scientifuic formula based on cups of tea & average bladder capacity of GPL drivers I think 60 laps is probably more appropriate. Should bring us in around the hour & a half mark.
Still less sweaty & more exciting than Greco-Roman wrestling!
I don't expect there will be many finishers - but hope there will be a few starters.

PLEASE NOTE THIS WILL BE AN F2 RACE. SHORT QUALIFYING SO DON'T BE LATE
On holiday – No?
Bored with the Olympics – A bit?
Need some spice for your Friday night? Here is something for the committed GPL racer – an [ALMOST] full length Grand Prix in the 1967 Formula 2 mod. Run on Pro settings, staying power & consistency may just count more than speed. Free choice of chassis.
Due to the extended race length qualifying will be a minimum of 15 minutes with race to start at 21.15 UK time.
Pleas take extra care in the first few turns – it’s a marathon not a sprint!

1580  SimRacing In General / Grand Prix Legends / Re: New Steering wheel on: July 30, 2012, 03:01:10 PM +0100
Al,
I bought a Logitech G25 when I started GPL & it performed well until it developed a failure after 2 years. I replaced it with a cheaper Thrustmaster - which fell to bits progressively over the course of about 12 months - upshift lever failed then a pedal just snapped in half. My current wheel is a G27 which I'm more than happy with. In my opinion a Logitech is a great piece of kit & well worth the extra money.
1581  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 23 (2012) - Riverside - Jul 29 on: July 30, 2012, 11:11:08 AM +0100
No issues with my connection or frame rates. Quite happy to use this track for the 67 Championship.
First half of the race was fine then my concentration slipped with a few unscheduled visits to the scenery. Really needed a little longer to learn the track.

Thanks Cookie.

Apologies I won't be able to make this one. Hopefully there will be a few fun race to get me through the summer break. With no football I will seriously be in danger of having to talk to the wife!
1583  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / UKGPL Season 23 (2012) Formula 2 Trophy - Porto - Jul 20 on: July 14, 2012, 12:01:17 AM +0100
THIS POST IS FOR THE LIGHT & HEAVY RACES

On to Round 3 of the Formula 2 European Tour takes us south to a Portuguese street circuit. The Portuguese Grand Prix was a motorsports event held for several years, mostly in the 1950s and then in the 1980s and 90s. It was a Formula One race between 1958 and 1960 and between 1984 and 1996.
The first event was held on the Boavista street course in Porto on 17 June 1951 as a sports car race. The Grand Prix was moved to Monsanto Park, Lisbon, in 1954 as a one-off. The first Formula One race was held in 14 August 1958 in Boavista, won by Stirling Moss in a Vanwall.

After two rounds with free choice of chassis, handicapping now applies to the top three drivers in each Division.
LIGHTS Mark Barresi – Ferrari or Brabham BT14. Evil Clive & Alex Barresi -  Ferrari, Brabham BT14 or Cooper.
HEAVY Rainier – Ferrari or Brabham BT14. Billy & Rog UK -  Ferrari, Brabham BT14 or Cooper.

The series will be run on two separate grids; The Lights (on T7) & the Heavys (on UKGPL 3). Please ensure you join the correct race. The Driver list is shown below & the Championship Table can be found here F2 European Tour

Unlimited resets are allowed but every Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane. If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded.
Incidents should be reported in the usual way.

In line with other divisions the races will be subject to full moderation  in the red zone which will be to the exit of the corner entering Avendia de Antunes Guimareras. The Moderator may chose to investigate any other incident, in addition to reported incidents & red zone incidents.

Please note that for Season 23 UKGPL has introduced a system of penalties within each series  for drivers accumulating yellow cards – see here
Penalty Points. Drivers incurring these penalties will receive a PM advising when a penalty has been applied & what race it should served.

A couple of points:
There has been a change to the modration report which may be a useful reminder to all drivers. If you blow an engine or otherwise damage the car near the pits the correct protociol is to Reset, drive into the pit then Reset. Whilst it might seem logical to coast into the pit then Reset it is contrary to UKGPL rules.
Second please note that hanicapping applies for Round III (Porto). The following drivers have a restricted chassis:
LIGHTS - Mark Baresi = Ferrari or BT14 / Evil Clive & Alex Barresi = Ferrari, BT14 or the Cooper
HEAVY - Rainier = Ferrari or BT14 / Billy & Rog = Ferrari, BT14 or the Cooper

Chassis restrictions apply to the top three drivers - so they may change from race to race.
1585  UKGPL / UKGPL Races / Re: UKGPL Season 23 (2012) Formula 2 Trophy - Zandvoort (1948-72) - Jul 6 on: July 09, 2012, 09:56:21 PM +0100
Not my series, if Billy wants to move you he can let me know. Your PP's are attached to your driver profile. You earned them, they are yours!  Wink
We don't normally make a habit of switching drivers between Divisions but in the case the driver has volunteered & the Moderators agree that Sky's performance is more suited to the Lights.
For the rest of the series Sky will drive in the Lights.
He did not enter Round 1 but finished 1st at Zandvoort in the Heavies. To try & be fair to all parties we will give Sky points in the Light brigade equivalent to 5th place finish - as his qualifying time was P5. All other drivers in the Lights at Zandvoort will keep exactly the same points.
Well done Sky!

Thanks for mentioning this Alex. I did check the Shift R's were followe by SnG's - but maybe not watching it carefully enough.
Will have a look at this soon - but it will have to be after the Zandvoort race.

Moderation report now published. There were penalties awarded in the Heavys but not enough to warrant any scanction in the next race.

Welcome back to GPL Marco. You can start in the Light Division for now.

I can't see that you have actually voted in the Poll. Fulvio would you mind directing Marco where to vote in the different series.
1589  UKGPL / UKGPL Announcements / Re: Season 23 1967 F2 Championship Registration on: July 03, 2012, 11:37:42 PM +0100
Hi Marco,
You are welcome to race with us but we need to put you in the right place. We have 2 x Grids for F2, 2 x grids for 67 F1 & 3 x grids for the 65 mod. It all depends on how fast you are. If you look at the top of the Post you will see this division is divided into the Heavy & Lights. If you know some of the drivers can you say which standard you think you are?
If you are in the same "Team 7" as Fulvio Policardi you can ask him - he knows UK GPL quite well.

How much is a weekend pass to Silverstone these days? Haven't been since '99 & it wasn't cheap then.
I was working on the basis it is out of the price range of most of the membership.
