I'll be wallpaper stripping tonight I suspect, but I'll give it a go if I can get out of it.

Hmmm, wall paper stripping or iRacing..........tough call  Wink

This is the beauty of the t'interweb, one day WT i'll be able to copy and paste that post to you when you've cast aside your joypad/ wiimote and you're setting a new lap record in a Lotus 79 around Oulton, barely able to hold back the tears of joy...

I Am Not Worthy

Merry Christmas btw bud - keep threatening to pop back and have a blast but the Le Mans event's beyond me at the moment - too used to my 30 min sprints!

I concur, if I ever said anything bad about the Skippy and the NTM, I take it all back!! Smiley

Great to run a few laps with you last night Ken - most amusing. I don't know if you were still there but some Nicklas chap came on and put in a 1:52.7!! Obviously cheating in some way.

I'm going to try and run this combo as much as possible while it's on this week so hope to catch you on a praccy server again soon!

Hahaha yes, or the only Skippy with KERS - either way it's quite depressing. Good thread in the Skippy section of the iR forums about technique and setups etc btw so I'm going to study that before Monday!

Was that my move you mean Brendan? Sad Hope you don't feel agrieved with that one - saw it on the replay and thought for once it was all above board even if there was a little tap. Did it damage your car??

Yup, no hard feelings though.  iR's damage model still needs some work methinks.  I didn't actually feel any contact but when I went straight on into the gravel and couldn't turn right at all, I thought I'd been hit by a truck Shocked

Still, I made it back from 17th to 6th and made only one competitive pass along the way, it's amazing how many folks drop out of the Club England races.  Huh

It's like that in 95% of iRacing races, it's why I'm iRated above 2000 and not below.  Smiley

Just managed a 54 dead, with splits showing an optimal 53.5. I have found using a bit of the old GPL style throttle on braking helps. I have rear ARB at 4. Could possibly drop to 3 but any lower and it starts to hop on the springs if you don't catch the slide soon enough.

Any other nuggets you've picked up would be most welcome.

In to the 53's using the 'quickshift' technique I have read about.

What's that then Ken?

BTW, what fuel are you using to get the 53s?

Only minimum fuel for that Paul. The 'quickshift' thing is holding the paddle back ready for the next gear and waiting to hit the limiter. Then it just slips in semi-auto style. Then release and hold again for the next upshift. It does give a slight advantage and seemingly it is a technique that is used in the real world, allegedly!!

Thx :-) I thought though that it was better to avoid the limiter as you were out of the peak power band. Maybe the change is quicker?

Cheers for the tip Ken - how much time has that shaved off for you then?? Not a massive fan of it tbh - was the same in the Late Model and just feels so unnatural. Still, if it's quicker!!

54.1 for me on 3.1 gals - did a race on Sunday and pace was more like mid to high 54's. Sodding compression at T2 caught me out too - got a love/  hate thing going on with that turn. I love it, it hates me!.

Biggest gain was coming in to the first chicane slower, getting as close to the first tyres as I dared so I could get on the power earlier and carry more speed all the way to Knickerbrook. Worth sacrificing a demon entry speed for the gain up the hill.

Can't wait for tonight's race - going to jump in the 6.45 (?) one too to get my eye in Smiley.

Yes T2 is a sod, I use a lot of trail brake with throttle on to try to prevent it snatching in the compression. The chicane is hard too and I am trying to do the same as you. It's difficult getting the balance right to avoid loosing too much by braking early.

6.45 is a bit quick for me, but see you later!
