What a great race, close battles all the way. Just need larger grids These cars are quite good fun - just can't handle the breaking reliably.

excellent race apart for hitting a wall and losing my front wing on lap 3, came in for a new one and got back on the case chasing down Don, got back on his tail a lap down but who cares, spun again and lost sight of him, finally got him on the last lap when he kindly drove off track at the chicane.. great fun thanks Don, and well done all , see you at the next one

Great fun out there, good clean racing from everyone , I look forward to Istanbul. The Results might not be in till tomorrow, some technical problem with the import and new patch (again!)

Enjoyed my first event in these cars. I missed all of the practice when I couldn't prise my youngest daughter off the PC (she was doing homework though!!). About time I bought her a lap top? Managed a mid grid position after the qually and enjoyed a great battle with Mike for the first half of the race. He seemed to drop away suddenly at one point and gave me some breathing space. I nearly cocked it up when I miss read the lap board and slowed up crossing the line with one lap still to run (well it was my very first Race07 race, I didn't know you where ungraciously removed from your car as soon as the race ended). Thankfully I realised my error and got back up to speed without dropping a position.

Results now up - I assumed that "Matt Smith" is new forum member "smithy".

It's not a technical problem - the imported is specifically built to reject input from versions of each game which haven't been seen before. This is protection against any unexpected changes in the format.

Where do I find the missing 2 secs guys? I was just running a default setup with tweaked steering ratio and BB to my taste. The last time I locked horns with Simon was UKGPL S9, when he pipped me by 1 point to take 3rd in the Championship. I see you've done a lot of driving since then Simon (the stats function here at Srou is fabulous) but I thought I should be closer since we used to be fairly evenly matched in GPL. I was struggling to get the car to turn on initial corner entry. I was having to take an angled line on the brakes so that when I let them off and turned the wheel there was enough room to wash out a little before starting the mid corner phase. Watching the replay most people seemed to be able to take a nice wide sweeping line going in. If I tried that I was generally sliding off on to the grass.

Picnic and I were using a setup made by someone else in Team Shark. It was quite lively at the rear (quite a feat for these F-BMWs), so turn in was not bad either. The fast sweeping corners was all about getting the line right and lifting a very small amount on the first left hander (thanks to Pete for that tip!) and then full throttle for the rest of it.
I do find the brakes very hard to set up on all the RACE 07 cars and this one was no different. There is so much time to be had once you have a setup you are comfortable with on the brakes. Everything goes pear shaped unless you can brake effectively.

I suffered big time toward the end of the race with tyre wear, I'm guessing now a lot of that might have been something to do with my brakes locking up far too easily and thus forcing me to be a little too tentative on them. I'll have to try and get that sorted for the next race and hopefully be able to put up a better show.

Pretty sure tyre wear isn't really an issue on these cars on that length of race. I do however get the feeling that the car goes off every other lap and that it must be the tyres, which actually most likely means it's me and nothing to do with the machinery that I'm blaming it on . I had PD monitor running and tyre wear really wasn't particulary high.

Yes, I sussed that one. You can tell when you get it right by how quickly you get 6th, ocasionally while still exiting the right. And if you get it totally wrong not even getting 6th before the last turn! Yes, the brakes do tend to lock easily, I think I had the pressure backed off a bit, but maybe need to move the BB a bit more. What is PD monitor Simon?

I think you're right Simon, because it did seem to come back again from time to time. Could it of been that the tyres were melting and then cooling down again? I'll have to try and get the PD monitor set up again.

I can only comment by the FBMW mod for rFactor. But in that casem tyres stayed very cool normally (low 80), and got up quite a lot through corner (105 or something). So the temps are fluctuating a lot, and I think that might have been what you've felt. The brakes are very tricky, but the key is...don't brake too much . These cars lack power and you need to keep revs, so slamming the brakes will kill laptimes . Brake very slightly and let it roll through the corners.

Well I reckon Sharky was sandbagging last night. I can't usually get to within a second of his lap times

I just used the default setup with full steering lock and full front and rear wing, just a bit to daft with the big right foot and spun. still the lap times look OK for me

Ade mentions using full wings front and back. I didn't touch them but I can't remember what the default settings are.
