Got a few laps in last night. First try in the Lotus 49, tricky car, more setup work needed to get the best out of it I think. Best lap was 1.12.2. Then tried the Brabham with my setup from Donington & equalled my Lotus time. Brabham seems to handle better & I was able to brake much later at the end of the main straight than with the Lotus. Hopefully get to try a few other cars before Monday.

Forgive them Clive, they are not steeped in the history of 67 Grand Prix cars. Plus, old habits die hard and GTL'ers are accustomed to having a choice of tyres. On the up side, it does add an extra tactical dimension regarding tyre wear if we do longer races. I am going to have to find some practice time for these cars, other then the Donington race, I have had very little track time.

Having checked out my 1967 copy of Autocourse, I could not find too much info on the tyres they used, but can confirm that there were indeed a limited number of different compounds available to choose from. Long before the days of 'qualifiers' though.

Thanks for the vid and the setup! Good! Yup thanks - nice setup Ati. Can't match your lap time of course, but have done my fastest lap with it; at 1:11.9. Cheers, Erling

Yes they go for huge money these days. I have 6 of them from between 1965 & 1974, although some are not in too good a condition as I had them when is was quite young, didn't look after them & I think 3 or 4 of them have been written in!

Looks that F1 1967 GTL ist faster than F1 1967 GPL and both are way faster than in real history: Race fastest lap 1967 by Dennis Hulme was 1:29.9, pole position by Jack Brabham 1:28.3. http://www.motorsport-magazin.com/formel1/ergebnisse/1967/suedafrika-gp-645.htmlLotus 49 doesn't look like an option for me - handles too nervous. Maybe I'll stay with the M5A but First I'll try other options.

I had also wondered about this. Let's see how this pans out over the remainder of the series. I'm also pondering if in future series we might apply tyre wear
