I might join you for this one. I'll dig out my copy of GTL at the weekend and see if I can get around the track reliably. Hockenheim is a track I like, and I used to get on OK with the 911.

It will be cool to have you with us for the first race of the season. Perhaps we can twist your arm to join in a few more also? But please, please, read the race announcement, particularly the top bit about lobby connection, and try to get online to test your ok at the earliest opportunity. I'm away this weekend so will not be able to help you. But others should be able to guide you through it. It's not at all complicated but it has to be done.

Yep, I've got a list of things to sort out. Lobby patch, skins and add-on car to install, and copying of my old .plr file. I'll try and connect to the server tomorrow.

Been having fun pootling around Hockenheim. Lapping in the 1:57s in the 911, probably not competitive, but hopefully fast enough to stay with some of the slower cars.
With the X2 tyre wear will a trye change be neccessary? I have no idea how long the rubber lasts, I've only ever raced sprints in GTL.

Connected to the server OK. Don't suppose anyone has a stable 911 setup I could use? I'm using the default atm.

I'm afraid that I cannot advise you with regard to tyre wear and the Porsche 911 RSR. Not my favourite car you see. However you will need to do a pitstop for fuel at least. As you haven't performed a pit stop (I assume) please read the post here https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=7388.msg131348#msg131348 which I wrote for another driver in your position last season. As usual, any questions please ask. EDIT: Your XD will give you a good idea of how long your tyres will last if you do some laps online (fuel also)

Was going to try a slow car now it looks like I can make it. 914 is fine but possibly a bit too slow, 59s (guess 55s are fast?), tried the slow CSL and hideous, won't turn and can't beat 2:01, and can't find any useful setups online. Anyone willing to share a CSL setup that actually turns into corners and doesn't steamroller straight on? Don't really fancy any of the other cars here at the moment although a 911 might be a possibility.

Thanks for that, I'd missed that I needed to turn off the AI in my plr file for pitting. I'll test the pitting procedure tonight. I've found myself a decent setup on NoGrip: http://www.nogripracing.com/files.php?subcat=36 - the animalaz one near the bottom if anyone is interested. It's a bit more stable over curbs and under braking. EDIT: Your XD will give you a good idea of how long your tyres will last if you do some laps online (fuel also) Using GTLPD, I'm getting tyre wear of 1.7 after 6 laps. With the X2 wear rate, that should give me about 17 by the end, sounds like 1 set of tyres will be enough. What is XD? Is it a 3rd party util?
