Title: UKGTL Season 10 Great German Touring Challenge - Oschersleben (GP) - Nov 1
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on May 03, 2010, 05:16:21 PM +0100
In case you have been away from GTL, there have been GTL lobby problems. But.... it's all fixed now!

This is what you do to connect to the server:

1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg54518#post_hostshack)
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

:euro:

If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

But most importantly, do not suffer in silence (also, don't leave it till the Monday night ;)).

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: 2x
Fuel consumption: 2x

Server: UKGTL GGTC
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=257;theme=5)
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: The start lights are a long way ahead of the start line. Drivers may wish to activate their in-game countdown.

If you intend to race please download both skinpacks and install the BMW 320i even if you don't intend to drive it.

Pitted at the end of lap 25, pit crew were being a bit touchy about refilling... so with 82 laps to go (according to XD) I decided I'd call it a night.
Had some good racing with Matt (again) for about 5 mins near the start & then no other action seen after 40mins racing.

Power slid into the wall at T1 1st lap, had some fun with Legzy  then the fronts wore away like paper
managed to limp round to lap 19 very slowly, changed tyres, said no to 44 sec suspension replace amd 30 sec
damage repair, tyres were going again towards the end and got bored of falling off, so waved at Phil as he lapped
me and left. I am looking forward to next series, I am fed up with this capri.

A big congrats to Henry for his incredible pace and a great win even with him loosing his chin spoiler ;). Also congrats to Matt for a solid 3rd place finish ;D. Always like running this neat little track and this time was no different even if the 320 is not a great fit for this tricky slow track.  Many thanks to Tony for putting the season together 8) Supercool!!

I faced this race as a big challenge as well as a test session. I always drive with keyboard, but this time I had the chance to take the wheel out of the box (logistics issue hehe). I had done a first test on Sunday with no good sensations, found the car very unstable while braking and weird ffb response. At Oscherleben my cornering speed was clearly low, maybe because of the setup, and lost traction easily. After being lapped twice I felt very tired, my back was claiming for a rest (need to find another position or chair) so I decided to enter the pits for a while. Went to the kitchen to start preparing dinner and... forgot completely the race!!!  :o  later on I noticed that I was the only one in the server... ehem...  :-[

I apologized if caused some kind of trouble to other drivers while pitting or whatever...

Grats to Henry, Navin and Phil  :)

And the Team trophy winners are the GTLDK boys as well. Thanks for coming over to our place, wrecking it, kissing our women then winning the trophy.

Only remains for me to thanks everyone who turned out week after week.

Thanks Tony enjoyed the Great German Touring Challenge - chance to race my lovely M3, I've enjoyed the Series.  Congrats to GTLKD and Navin for winning the Series.

Back to last night, it was another mixed bag.  Really pleased with practice and qualifying, set new PBs eventually about 4 secs faster on the night.  First lap went OK but got tapped into the corner where the pit exit emerges and spun finishing at the back of the field.  Gained some places due to other drivers errors and then, having committed full speed into the chicane, saw a spoiler on the apex of the second part and hit it.  I went off and found the handing was carp so I crept around to the pits and had the "works", over 2 minutes during which time I was lapped twice by the leaders.

After that I went well for a few laps chasing Tony, one or two laps down before he quit.  I was starting to feel more relaxed and confident when I went into the chicane too fast and slide off sideways and stopped gently with the nose just nestlling up to the tyre wall.  Thinking how lucky that was, I selected reverse to find I'd only got a few inches movement - I'd slid sideways into a slot I was unable, despite trying all I could, to get out of.  Race over, pity there's no more races to look forward to.
