Porsche ( most fun car to drive by far ) with race fuel and soft tires: 2:11,193 but rear tires are finished after 10 laps. With medium tires 2:11,287 but with that way of driving tires can not last the distance. Mediums and pace about 2:12 - 2:12,5 it is posible but boring because I can see only one overtaking spot so I`ll go with hards and have fun no matter where I`ll end up.

Well I know the weather is carp, but we are actually in BST since 2 weeks ago. I might not be in the right year, but I'm still sure about the time of day

This one looks a challenge for the curb police. Difficult to stay on the track, even when you are trying to!

i think this track encourages use of the kerbs really, considering they are the low white flat type. Theres no advantage to anyone cutting an apex across the grass from what i can see as it instantly slows you down or puts the car out of shape, so using a bit of kerb should be fine imo. These cars are a handful enough between the dipping esses ! Wasnt happy being a tad down on time...2:11's now race fuel & meds online

Hang on a minute, I (rightly) got DQed for using the kerbs at Hungaroring, now people are saying its OK to use the kerbs at this track. Make your mind up guys!

No doubt about it.
Need to keep two wheels on the track and the curb is not part of the track surface.
Thimple!

Nice track, love it 1 question for Matt: If the best driver will be at 2.10.xx per lap, shouldn't the race length be a bit shorter, say 19 laps ? Stig

As Clive says, still got to keep two wheels on the track, I didn't mean all 4 off! @stig...is someone doing 2:10's then?! Though guess it wouldn't surprise me if the fastest guys crept into it.

This was one of my favourite GPL tracks but I not sure I can make the race. I will certainly not have much time to practice before Thursday evening, maybe a few laps tonight to determine which car I want to drive.
So please don't mess with car choice too much!
Thanks to all those who have posted times, that will help me narrow down choices.

Goldtop has informed me that the race start is at 20:45 BST (not GMT), so I should be able to take part in the race on Thursday. I will have to work out how to drive one of those cars first though

Matt's probably in Rochdale at the minute. Think they stay on GMT all year. Certainly still use feet and inches.

A quick four lap test in the Alfa 1750 GTAm (50 per cent fuel load) netted a 2:13.37, so hopefully I should be reasonably competitive in the race. I don't particularly like the Porsches or Capris, and I can never seem to get any great pace out of the Escorts, so an Alfa will probably be my preferred drive. Keeping the car "within the rules" will probably be as tough a challenge as the race itself! There are so many blind crests with tight corners that we will need to know the track like the backs of our hands I am looking forward to racing you again, Clive. It's been over two years!

Hi, John. It will be nice to start competing in another P&G3 league. I may even get some tips for car/track combos for the WSL

I thought that this would be the mighty Clermont-Ferrand I knew from GPL - what a disappointment to see, having downloaded the track, that it's the modern Micky Mouse version! I could probably get the hang of this just as I did with Hungary and Sebring, two tracks I didn't really like before racing there, but this week I don't really have the time. For the real Clermont-Ferrand, my drive home over the Snake Pass tonight might have counted as unofficial practice but for this track it will not have yielded any useful lessons. This will certainly throw up some issues of cutting the track - it seems to be designed to be cut. As to cars, I was very slow in the Porsche, did a similar pace to what others achieved in the Alfas and Escorts (low 2.13s) and was much quicker in the Capri (a low 2.11 with a major mistake in it, I will easily do 2.10 and quick people will go at least 1.5 seconds faster). All of this was on race fuel, hard tyres and no setup work except checking the gearing.
