Championship standings HERE RACE TWOGrid/server capacity: 22 Track: Norisring Download thisCars allowed: Ford Capri RS 2600. Skin pack Download this. All drivers need to download these skins and add them to your Ford Capri folder. Practice: ~20:50 (10 mins) Qualifying: 21:00 (10 mins) Race 2: 21:10 (21 laps) Time of Day Setting: 14:00 Start: STANDING Tyre wear: Normal Fuel consumption: Normal Server: simracing.org.uk Monday Password: see aboveNotes: (1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage. (2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules. (3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read Autopit="0" Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable. Special Notes: None

New car, looks nice, need decent new setup! Well actually Bill, it's an original car that just doesn't get much attention as it's usually overshadowed by it's big brother. Along with the skin pack I'm hoping it helps create a neat little racing series.

Well, Hadn't driven this 1 at all leading up to the race and I'm afraid it showed. No idea what was the fastest line through any of the turns but it obviously wasn't the line I used. Held onto a few positions higher than where I finished for a good portion of the race before losing it in the final hairpin and several pirouettes later had been passed by everyone so was last of the runners. Let the leader through to put me a lap down with about 4 to go and though still trying very hard was completely adrift of the rest of the pack by the end.
Would make a nice series and I think I could really enjoy it with a bit more time to develop some sort of set up.
TTFN John.

Aha, I didn't notice Hockenheim and the ring.
I may be back in Belgium with my job on those dates but hopefully not.
Looking forwards to them if I'm here.

It looks like John and myself use the same training regime.......don't read the posts properly and arrive on the server with only the basic information. We might know which car we are supposed to drive but have no setup prepared and require a visitor's guide so that we can find our way around the circuit!! I was fully expecting the second race to be a re-run of Avus, so it was quite a shock to have to find myself transported to Norisring. I guess it was fortunate that I did recognise the track, although I had not driven here for about 2 years and that was in GPL. I copied the Avus setup across and shot out of the pits to discover that I needed to learn some new braking markers for T1. Several attempts later and more trips into the barriers I was beginning to find my way around. The race started OK, until I collected a few places as others tangled or had issues and finding myself chasing Erling for 3rd place. Ambition then exceeded ability as I tried to push for more pace, and I proceeded to spin up the rear wheels out of consecutive corners and get the car completely screwed around dropping towards the back of the field as others streamed past. Apologies to Rog who I passed several times during this phase until I got my composure back and modulated my right foot again. Once I started concentrating I was able to string some consistent lasp together and climb back up through the field and gain an undeserved finishing place. Like John, with a little more understanding and a more forgiving setup I might find these cars more fun to drive....if only we could swap those grippy slicks for some vintage crossply tires Tony ? Grats to the podium for some very impressive lap times. I have a long way to go with these cars!!

Whereas I quite liked Berlin-Avus, I can find no redeeming features about Norisring whatsoever. For someone who loves fast, flowing curves, two 1-gear hairpins & two nondescript 90º turns, are about as enjoyable as a round of waterboarding... Regrettably was ½ a sec off my offline pb at qual. Again found myself in an unlikely 3rd place early on, with Franky behind and looking for a way past. About 6 laps in, the tyres were nicely unevenly warmed, and the car got unstable under braking for both hairpins. Barely avoided spinning several times, first letting Franky through, and then losing more time afterwards. Hung onto 4th till the end, although I got close to Phil in the final laps, after he had a moment, but couldn't challenge him for 3rd. Grats to the podium and thanks to Tony for the organising. Cheers, Erling
