This race will be a rolling start following a formation lap and the procedure is as follows: *It will be the pole sitter's responsibility to complete the first lap at a pace that allows the rest of the grid to follow comfortably *There should be no overtaking or hard accelerating/braking *Drivers should avoid getting too far behind or too close to the driver in front *Approximately 20 seconds before crossing the start line the pole sitter should slow down to a speed of no more than 50mph (80km/h) *Each following driver shall close up directly behind the driver in front also maintaining a speed of no more than 50mph (80km/h) *The pole sitter should maintain that speed until they cross the start line and then accelerate away to start the race (lap2) *Each following driver should only accelerate when the driver directly ahead does (they do not have to wait until crossing the start line) *No overtaking is allowed before crossing the start line at the completion of the formation lap Practice: 20:00 GMT (30 mins) Qual 2: 20:30 (15 mins) Race: 20:45 ~ 60 Minutes Cars allowed: Aquila CR1 Track: Hungaroring Time of Day Setting: Afternoon Weather: Dry Start: Manual rolling start with formation lap Tyre wear: Normal Fuel consumption: Normal Pit-stops: None required Server: Simracing.org.uk Password: see above (#post_event_password) (2) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=532) Notes: (1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage. (3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another non pack track occasionally) (4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit. From the endurance test race, I doubt there'll be any significant tyre wear for this unless we run with a higher multiplier - might be worth considering? I got 80 minutes of abuse with no noticeable wear at Spa

I wanted to keep this series as a nice and simple sprint format without having to worry about strategy or pitstops as we have that element in both the GTM and IEC events. I have the feeling the Aquila is going to be very popular as it is such a good drive so next season maybe we can mix things up a bit. It's a stonking car, hope we get lots of competition :)

The Aquila is one of the easier cars to drive in Raceroom and with it being free content I'm hoping this will mean big grids and close racing for this series. If you haven't tried it yet give it a go :) And please remember this race is a manual rolling start following a formation lap...details are in the race announcement ;) Title: Re: RRE Season 3 (2016) Race Room Aquila Sports Cup - Hungaroring - Jan 24 Post by: mr_belowski on January 23, 2016, 07:46:56 AM +0000 Real life permitting, I'll be there. Brilliant car, and we'll suited to the track

Regardless, had a great race with Rowe till he had a spin right in front of me so i couldn't avoid him, sorry. Then around half distance I decided to quit since I was racing in the middle of nowhere with no chance catching up. After a decent qually I leapt off the line from second like a scaled cat, congratulating myself on an awesome start. Then I started to wonder why the rest of the field had started so badly. At no point did it actually occur to me that I'm really not that awesome and something was amiss. Tudor gently reminded me of the rolling start arrangement and I felt like a bit of a tit :) After the 'proper' start, me and Tudor had a bit of a scrap for a couple of laps but I never had the pace to properly challenge and then started dropping back. I'd settled for 2nd by half distance (Tudor wasn't going to bin it), and just started grinding out the laps till I screwed up the esses and hit the wall. Not particularly hard (in R3E terms...) but it was enough to kill the engine, and that was my evening over. Sorry for the silliness at the start chaps, I clean forgot. Title: Re: RRE Season 3 (2016) Race Room Aquila Sports Cup - Hungaroring - Jan 24 Post by: phspok on January 25, 2016, 11:25:14 AM +0000 Was going quite well, as Giannis said we were having some fun, but I really struggle with rear engine cars
always have, I go into corners way too fast and eventually get frustrating spins. I spun in front of Giannis as he said, and we had unavoidable contact. Having been struggling to not spin on every lap, and having a PC on the floor rebuilding itself I went off to finish that. I have redone the results to what I think is correct any errors shout up. Surprised at my pace compared to others in qually. Race was going ok in the first half until i realised my pedals werent staying put on the carpet :( Had to slow down and try and pull them back, allowing Picnic through but then felt the tyres were alot less grippy and struggled to be as consistent.

Those that have stuck with us together with all the new drivers that have joined us show me that SROUK is still the place to race if you want fair and competitive racing and I'm sure numbers will grow because of that.
Was expecting some tough competition so had put in a lot of practice for this one and had a decent feeling setup. After pulling a small gap I was able to manage the gap back to Jim but after he'd left I started pushing for laptimes and eventually put it in the barrier with a couple of laps remaining. Fortunately for me the damage wasn't race ending or I'd have felt a bit of a wally ::) |
