A comparatively lonely race for me once we had got into it by a few laps. I had assumed most would choose the bigger class here and had hoped that there might be a few more Camaro's although I knew they were the slowest of the fast group. But there was just Eiflblitz and myself. Had I known there would be a few more of the slower classes I would probably had opted for one of those myself.
Qualified back in 7th but got a blistering start due to the Camaro's ease off the line and actually managed to mix it for a few laps with the Capri's and I think the odd Stang but I knew once I lost the tow down Hangar Straight I was heading for a very lonely race which is how it worked out in the end. I did try to prolong my involvement and thought I saw a slim chance of a move on Tony into T1 early on but ambition far outweighed talent and although I did stuff it up the inside of his Capri my approach speed meant Tony Probably thought "WTF" followed by "Ah ok Bye" as I sailed past onto the grass on the outside of the turn. From then on having lost the connection with the front group I slowly slipped behind a second or so each lap.
Came across Huggy and Steve having their own private battle and lapped them (Twice) shortly after the 1st pass I made a right Horlicks of one of the corners and ended up on the grass so had to do it all over again.
Came across Bill in the Escort with a few to go. Was disappointed Eiflblitz's race was ended so quickly.
Once I had lost touch with the front pack he was next behind me and I had expected us to have quite a battle. Unfortunately the end of his race signified a very lonely 15 laps or so for me also.
