Never enjoyed racing here and tonight just rammed that negative thought further home. I know everyone believes the Sypker is some super beast but I think I've proved that without decent setups and no talent it's not brilliant. I could keep up with the Z4 and Porkas on fresh tyres for about 5 laps before my setup went off and the car became almost undrivable I must apologise to all those I hit tonight and spun in front of. It won't happen again as I'll not race Dubai ever again unless I can ever get at least consistent and that's very unlikely to happen. Glad this was the end of the season as a performance like that certain blows away one's mojo for all this Fingers crossed the iR race Tuesday goes better or I'll probably be suicidal

Awful race for me. Struggled for pace, as I have at all the low downforce circuits, and it became obvious quite early in proceedings that I couldn't brake anywhere near as late into the corner at the end of the back straight as others. After getting past JPV towards the end of the first stint (think my tyres lasted much better - he was locking up a lot), he ended up boxed in behind me by a lapping car, and I could only watch in horror as the inevitable happened and he ran smack into the back of me there. I guess he quit - dead engine or just fed up? - and I pitted to repair the damage; only 8 seconds worth but the handling was off. In hindsight I think I should've hung on to half distance, as although the car was good for 35 minutes or so, once the rears went off it was a nightmare, and by the time we got down to the last 10 minutes it was desperately hard to hang on to the back in some places. Sadly I never had the pace to help the team and it's gutting to see we missed out on the team championship by just 2 points. :'( At least my 3rd in the drivers was already sewn up. EDIT: JPV, not Goldtop. All those Beetles look alike. I use the homeplug units David as i would love to run cat5 around the house but would look too unsightly and have always had issues whenever i ran wifi.
Yeah, I use the HomePlug things too (four Devolo units in my case), absolutely marvellous bits of kit. Anyway it seemd Bob was warping alot.
Yeah, sorry about that, Bob, but we really couldn't let you continue like that, you'd have had someone's eye out. It looked like the connection was in use by something else, pulsing every second or so for a while, then being smooth for a few seconds, then pulsing again. Might be something like Windows Update downloading patches?

I was no better than 4th fastest in GTC tonight but gained from late problems for Purdie and Jonzo to get second place. Thank you for the kind words SbG but I am still a class or two below you and not really competition. (I assume you meant consistently strong btw ) Well it's been a fun and challenging season with plenty of weather to contend with. Time to say a few 'well dones' and 'thank yous'. Well done to the two championship winners Gazza and Ginsters. SbG, it has been a pleasure watching you disappear into the distance this season and admiiring some of your stunning qually times and race pace. Well done to the other podium winners including my two Shark Gymer team-mates and Jay-Blue. Well done to the Supersonic team for your GT1 championship and to the Kerbcrawlers who beat us Sharks by a single point in GTC. Finally well done to all drivers on the quality of your racing and sportsmanship in some pretty grotty weather conditions at times. The standard of racing remains really high and is attracting a worrying number of aliens from other leagues (worrying in that this may be my only championship podium). Huge thanks to Gizmo and Pete for organising such great league seasons and providing servers to race on and all people who have helped in the unglamourous but necessary task of moderating the occasional incident. See you in S12 with a nicely painted Shark Z4!

gutted gutted gutted. :'( Had 2nd place totally in the bag, only 9 minutes remaining after a faultless strong drive and my poxy pc went t*ts up Ive obviously got an overheating cpu or gfx card. It did exactly what it does when my IR goes pear shaped, instant drop to about 20fps and judder city, i couldnt even see the track edges and just had to pull off and retire :'( Qually was tight and Purds just pipped me by a 100th of a second, so was 3rd on grid. Race start was nearly a disaster when i had a brain fade and put my lights on instead of the pit limiter off !! Prof and the train behind must have wondered what was happening, sorry about that Chased hard after Purds for 2nd and really put the pressure on him after several laps. Then on lap 10 he cracked and i shot off into the dusk for the next half hour on my tod with a clear 10sec gap back to purds and Prof, whilst 30 secs behind Ginsters rocket ship Pitted on 50mins, all straight forward except for the tardy pit crew and was shocked to then rejoin as Purds shot past so his stop must have been much healthier than mine. Chased him down hard again and with about 15mins left he ran wide again and i reclaimed my 2nd place. I then pulled a 5+ sec gap out on him and was just looking forward to finishing 2nd then the bastich pc let me down Such a shame as was a great race long duel on one of my fave tracks with Purds and the track looked superb in the lighting conditions.

Gazza gets the nod on the attendence rule. Extract from UKGTR rules: In the event of a tie on points, the following criteria will be applied in order: ◦Number of events entered within the championship ◦Best finish in class ◦Best finish overall ◦Best qualifying position in class ◦Best qualifying position overall ◦Most number of wins in class, or 2nd places if tied on wins, and so on down to 6th place. ◦Most number of wins overall, or 2nd places if tied on wins, and so on down to 6th place. ◦Most number of class poles in class, or 2nd place qualifying if tied on poles, and so on down to 6th place. ◦Most number of class poles overall, or 2nd place qualifying if tied on poles, and so on down to 6th place.

Most odd, although this is the first race I've done on my new Core i5 rig.

One of the more enjoyable GTR2 races for me, I'm not fond of this track, so did 5 mins testing in Ferri 430 and 5 mins in Viper. VIper felt better. Spent all of prac and qual adjustin my race setup, should have set a bit more front grip, as the front left wore faster than the rears (med fronts/hard rears) still got 2nd fastest lap in class I think, so was not too bad Had great fun 1st half passing a couple of people, then spent most of the race chasing Spanner, I caught up a couple of times, once got alongside, a bit of robust defense on the straight made me scowl, otherwise a good chase Oh BTW, you were warping quite a bit a couple of times, I had to lift once as you zoomed up to and then away. only happened briefly, after that looked solid. Perhaps someone turned the kettle on.. TCP/IP over mains....? get some cat6 strung around the house

That was such a tense race for me. With all the effort the team has put in over the last few weeks, it all came down to the last couple of laps for the championship. I had a race long battle with Peter, with both of us making mistakes and swapping places until he spun and I was through, for what turned out to be crucial points. Bad luck there Peter, the Spyker certainly looked very difficult to drive from where I was sitting. After getting past Goldtop towards the end of the first stint (think my tyres lasted much better - he was locking up a lot), he ended up boxed in behind me by a lapping car, and I could only watch in horror as the inevitable happened and he ran smack into the back of me there.
I guess he quit - dead engine or just fed up?
I think you're confusing me with someone else there Dave. I was ahead of you all night Big congrats to all the race/championship winners, but especially (of course) to the Kerbies and in particular the mighty SBG for a great season .

I had this a bit in practice offline earlier in the week - never seen it before at any other track. I defragged my hard drives earlier today (even though all said 0%) and this seemed to stop it. Mine is a relatively new install of Windows 7 too.

Earlier in the day everytime spanner left the server my game would ctd.

Gazza gets the nod on the attendence rule. I still think it should be decided on results rather than attendance. Me and Simon have been saying that for a while. In any case, congrats to Gazza and Jayblue for a close finish and some serious pace from the top 2 here. It's gonna be tough for me in S12 to keep up with you

I wanted to say thank you for letting me jump in these last two races with your series. Even though I crashed out on Mosport and I was distinctly off the pace at Dubai (never been fast there), I had alot of fun and coming back from a year off from racing, overall I was pleased with things. I still remember the very first race I ever ran - it was with UKGTR at Monza about 4 years ago I think and succumbed to the 1 fps bug. Hope I can continue to run with you guys next season.
Cheers,
Steve

After practicing for this race by watching some TV before hand I was as well prepared as always. Picked my Barcelona setup and made some tweaks through qualifying and just before the race. Considering how far ahead JB and Berger were on the grid I was suprised there was nobody inbetween me and them which saw me start an amazing 3rd. Unlike a few of you other drivers I actually quite like Dubai. It has all sorts of different corners, down hill, up hill, long straights, hairpins, fast corners, double apex corners. With the track being so wide it's ideal for racing these big cars and also gives you the opportunity to make mistakes and get away with them, or even just try different lines. Anyway, from 3rd on the grid I saw Berger let Jayblue through for the lead and then watched them both dissappear into the distance. I gained an early lead on the cars behind but when Gazza got through to 4th he started closing me down. Nearing the pit stops and I ran wide somewhere and he took the position. Up to that point I'd just been in cruise mode and it woke me up and I chased hiim very hard up the pit stops where I was a car length behind going into the pits. As expected my pit stop was shorter and rather than the bottom wiggle I give Truetom when I pass him I flashed my lights a lot as I passed Gazza in the pits with my tongue sticking out. Sorry, couldn't resist. This gave me a 4-5 second lead which I extended to 7-8 seconds. I really put the hammer down after the pit stops (although I'm sure my lap times weren't much better) and with only 5 minutes to go 3rd was in the bag. Unfortunately Picnic thought he would impress me with his drifting skills and span right in front of me and Ginsters as we were lapping him. Luckily we both had our eyes on stalks by that point and our lightning fast reactions amazingly avoided any contact between any of us. After that it was a bit more tense to the finish, but I gathered myself together and came home third still for an unexpected podium position in the race. Well done to all championship winners and losers and to the team behind the scenes that make this stuff happen. I still think it should be decided on results rather than attendance. Me and Simon have been saying that for a while.
I still agree with that. I don't think it's fair that a driver with 4 wins should be 2nd to a driver that didn't win a race should they tie on points. Encouraging attendance is one thing, but I don't see why you need to be at every race to be the worthy winner. We all have holidays (well apart from Gizmo!) or races for one reason or another we simply can't attend or races where we have a power cut or disconnection or where the server is full so we're all gonna miss races from time to time. I don't think we need dropped scores but I do think ties should be settled on performance not attendance as that just seems plainly fair to me. I don't see what we're acheiving by deciding ties on attendance. If you are in a position to win the championship you are clearly not someone that just turns up from time-to-time anyway so how is it helping anyone?
