Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

This series looks interesting, will have to try to re-arrange my diary to try to fit it in!

Hey! I would like to join this series. Do I need to do something for that?

Welcome HeMuLiZ

You need to register for this series. Then you race with us.
I need to add you to the list of drivers for our R3E series.
But I can do that at your first event, no problem  8)

hmm...

You dont need to register.... but i guess it would be good to tie the forum name to the in game name?

I can't do the results with all names if people don't register for the game, not this series in particular
and they don't score points.

Yes... but theres nothing he needs to do before turning up? Him.. not you!

Not sure what people need to do other than register for the forum. I add people to the list for R3E when they do their first event with us
Tony was very insistent that people register for GTL (or that's what I thought he meant) Anyone can turn up and race, at worst they
are "unknown" or "guest" in the results.

GTL had the problem of new drivers joining races before they had registered to SROUK.

Is it ok if I run with my real name (Henri Miettinen), because some leagues require it to be used, so i wouldn't need to change it all the time?

Do I need to pick one car and stay in it or can I change it to different races?

Your name in results is whatever name you have registered with us.
Sometimes people's lobby name is not the same as the driver name in the game.
I have to enter whatever the name is when I do the results for your 1st race.

It's no problem for us whatever you call yourself  8)

You can use any car in the class for that event that you want, and change as many times as you like
for these series. Some of our series (GTL for example) you have a limit on drives sometimes
but not for these R3E ones.

Hi Henri and welcome to SROUK  :punk:

In your profile, remember to go to Drivers Details and enter a Country. Then you will get a little flag next to your name in the results  :thumbup1:

Thank you Tony! I'm not very familiar with Raceroom so how much setups make difference? I don't like to practice much, but if the setup makes a big difference I think I have to  ;D

The default setups for the P1 cars are easy to drive, some adjustment might make the car faster.
The GTO cars may need some adjustments if you will run those with us as well
and the NSU are easy to drive with default setups.

I hope you will enjoy your time here

Okay thanks! But the setups don't make you 5 seconds faster I guess? I have to try those other cars to see if they are fun to drive.

Welcome Henri, hope you enjoy racing with us.

These setup guides may help, if you are struggling with the car handling.

The GTO are the most difficult, but are really good in a race.
The NSU are slow, but we get some great very close racing with them

I'M BACK  ;D ;D ;D :P

after 2 months holiday in Iceland  8)

Did yesterday a RRE test, luckily because a lot of updates (nice to see the new PIT interface, more data available if you are now in the pits).

Did have some strange hick-ups with my VR headset yesterday (maybe still in holiday modus :D), hopefully not today.

Yesterday it was really rusty, luckily the P1 cars are easy to drive. Nice there is now a P1 series, just after seeing Le mans this weekend.

see ya, this evening

Thanks for the race guys! That was fun. Mistral was a bit slow in straights. The DMD drivers ran away even though I was in their slipstream. I think I need to make some adjustments to the default setup. I'm starting to like Raceroom, but is there any way to get better performance with VR?

Not enjoying these at all, maybe it's just because I have no time to practice and, at the speeds these things travel at, knowing your braking and turn in points is even more important as there is no room for error. Also the view in the Mistral is shocking. I couldn't ever see the sausage kerb in T4, the really tight left, and it was totally random how near the apex I got. Most of the time I was way outside but in the race I cut in too tight and beached the car on it. Game over.

I had reduced the power of the DMD, looks like I need to reduce it some more, or add to it's weight
to get a more even lap time.

Birgir went past me on a straight like I was in a milk float  :o so I know what you mean.
Perhaps we should run it as a spec diesel series  ::)

Good to see you Henri  :thumbup1:

And welcome back Birgir, I see you haven't got any slower  ;D

We discussed the viewpoint earlier. I was ignorant (well perhaps I just am) to it as I use nose view, and can see everything I need.
If you run in the cockpit view, which I guess you would in VR then you can move the view around, but as someone said
you end up moving it more forward than you might want. Also move the view up can help.

I love these things almost as much as the FR90, but these are much more drivable, I thought I'd cracked it with
something that everyone would like, perhaps I need to try VR mode when testing  ::) I keep having a go a it
but it makes me feel funny, and I am even slower with it as I can't sense speed or when to turn as well
I mean in anything, not these in particular.

Yeah that T4 was a bit problem even with VR, but most of the time I got it to hit pretty well when I looked at the braking marks. The bigger problem for me was the understeer in slow corners.

Dont think it was specific to VR people... I only got that corner right once.....Some of us want to run in cockpit....

Just cant seem to unlock this track! always been the same for me here, love the track but slow. I also am using VR which there is a view issue as its mostly guess work to find the apex at turn 4.
Geoff was on another level again great win dude! and i had a decent fight with Mark who was a lot faster than me but struggled to get his nose in front right to the end as i squeaked 2nd place.
I too also struggled with understeer in the slower corners and the speed through maggots becketts and chapel, maybe i could borrow Geoff's setup to see where i might be going wrong? :)

i really do enjoy raceroom and i would put it as my number one sim with ACC my second sim. I know there has been some discussion about numbers and maybe someone taking over one of the days for setting up of these races, i would like to throw my hat into the ring for this if that's OK? not sure who i should talk to about it?

What I have read so openComposite can get a reasonable performance but for those of us who use steamvr there is no help until they change their engine to dx11 or dx12.

Well what can I say, I appear to have got on quite well with the DMD here

I think the key to a fast lap was getting through Abbey & the Becketts complex without losing too much speed. Like most of you I was in the mid 1.45s until I found it was quicker through those corners by taking them in a higher gear. At Abbey I was changing back down to 5th initially, but taking it in 6th was faster & if I got it right I could take it without a lift. Similarly at Becketts it was faster to take the first right in 6th rather than changing down, then take the next two turns in 5th & 4th respectively. Those two sections gained around 0.7s

I agree about T4, almost impossible to see the apex & get it spot on correct, it was a case of estimating where to brake & turn & hope for the best. I got it seriously wrong twice in the race, on lap 1 I ran far too deep into it & nearly let John past & later in the race I bounced over the inside kerb.

Congrats to John & Mark on the podium   , welcome back Birger, & I hope Henri enjoyed his first race with us & will be back.

The current layout of Silverstone is a great drive with a variety of corners but they have turned it into the worst spectator experience in the country, truly terrible.

My setup if anyone wants to try it.
