A bit of a depleted field at Mondello, and although I can't say that I dislike it as much as some of you, I guess I don't love it either.
It was just typical of my luck lately. The innocent victim of Geoff's and Tony's "pas de deux" off the grid, where for the first time in a long time I managed to keep my car more or less straight. I caught Tony's car ( at least I think it was Tony ?) a solid blow to the midriff which would have folded any lesser mortal in half........ and he emerges unscathed!!
My Escort however fared less well and that became apparent at the first real braking zone where the car was happy to go in any direction other than straight ahead, or where the steering wheel was indicating that it should
I had to brake very early and very gently to maintain control and for a while I was just about maintaining the gap back to Tony. For a while after Daz's trip to the pits I was running in a podium position.
I think the rarified air got to me and after a couple of spins and engine stalls where I could not find a neutral for any amount of trying and discovered that the Clutch pedal was also awol, so that each time I started the engine it stalled again.
After giving Tony a 50 sec lead and allowing Daz to unlap himself to drop me to last place, I decided that I was done!
Grats to all finishers.............liked the cars, at least I did when they were shiny and new!
