F10 arcade mode!!!  Are you just slightly insane!!! :o

The rest of us are fully sectioned and certified as we drive from "in car". Which is the only way to progress from a mild addiction to GPL, to a totally dependent and obsessed existence ;D :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :jumpjoy:

brrrrm, brrrrm beep beep

For me it's unthinkable to drive with a wheel and F10.... ::)

But is there a possibility to change the POV in F10 like it works with gplshift ?

Does anyone know how to reposition the virtual mirrors in GT's ???

I am struggling with the virtual mirror in my Mk2 Ford GT as it is too high on my monitor and I can only see the lower half of the "mirror". This means that to be safe in a race, I have to drive very fast to ensure that no-one is close behind me and that makes me sweat!!  ;) ;D

Have you tried adjusting the Field of View? A higher number makes the seat further back. You will have to delete the gplcgt file from the GPL folder. Then open GEM, adjust F.O.V. and close GEM so that it creates a new gplcgt file. Hope that helps, Walter

EDIT: Try setting the F.O.V. to 90.

Walter has made a typical and a topical comment.  There's some recent chat at SRMZ, in the 'Help' I'm having trouble with ,' section, about GT mirrors being off screen.  But, if you change the FOV to fix this, you change the perspective of everything around you.  And higher will make the road ahead seem smaller.  Default is designed to be realistic, and makes racing close to other cars easier.

Virtual mirrors do  not have to be in a certain spot.  Try a different download.  There's a set on the thread mentioned above.

The VM can be moved where you want indipendently from the FOV (at least in the GT's mod it is possible in CanAm's I still didn't find where any VM is placed inside the cockpit 3DO tree structure).

You have to use the TrackEditor to navigate down to the 3DO tree structure and when you've found the right branch of the Virtual Mirror then you can change the X,Y and Z coordinates of the square that represent the VM.

LOL - Advising Clive to use the Track Editor is like telling me to 'drive better'. It is possible, but like a two headed calf, highly unlikely.

My car might be easily indentified at Brands Hatch.

Attempts at moving the mirror have resulted in what appears to be a 48" plasma screen mounted on the roof. So maybe everyone will be able to see what I cannot?

I was a minute late to the first race. I would have really enjoyed driving the Porsche 910. The Can Am race was fun. I was happy with my set-up choices. I would have enjoyed having a 42" plasma rear view mirror though. I made a couple of mistakes. Each mistake came after looking up at the prib.  :-[ I can tell that I just need more track time. Thanks all for the race, see you next time. - Walt

Same here Walt. Brands is obviously not a good track to be looking at Prib. At least we know for next time!

GT race was very nice : after the first laps, I was chasing Axel during all the rest of the race. Sometimes I was very close to overtake him but it is always risky and difficult on such a track. Moreover with 2 liters car against a 4,7 liter.
I tried to take any opportunity but I couldn't pass Axel, by the way my first objective was to finish first of the Heavy and so to finish ahead Martin to be able to win the Heavy Championship.

Canam race was a disaster as I couldn't setup the car which was undriveable. I retired at the end of the 1st lap.

Now looking at the Heavy Championship, I finish with exactly the same total of points as Dave Curtis : 359 points and the same number of wins = 11.
But the final result  is 1 Dave C. and 2 David R., why ? How is determined this final rank ?

Something else, the rules indicates : The final championship positions will be determined from each drivers best thirty results.
My English speaking (and writing) is not brillant but I always (let's say since I am 12...) believed thirty = 30 and thirteen = 15.
But only the 15 best results are taken into account.
 ???   ???

It has not a great importance and Dave deserves to win as he made less races than me, but I just want to know.

Yeah David, a great little pain in the ass...
I tend to go the save way towards the end of the race and just control the distance, but after you got my slipstream I had to give a lot more.
The Porsche is one of the best cars around here ;)
The heavy Mirage has smooth handling and a good acceleration but is relative slow in the corners...

I hope to have fixed this!

The Pribluda "problem" can be reduced by editing the positions of the main informations.
I have the essentials placed in the center on top and bottom, e.g. the "player position" and "tire temps"

Unfortunately I missed the start of the GT race and all the fun.
I was in chat, trying to offer some ideas to Sergio, who for some reason was unable to join the race server. I confess that I am probably not the best qualified to offer ANY advice related to computers and the interweb, but I felt that I should at least try.
Anyhow, the race started without us and we sat and waited for the Can Am race before trying to get Sergio connected again. Still we had no joy and I only joined qually with about 4 mins to go.
It worked out that I did 2 warm up laps in the Can Am Porker and just crossed the line to get in a 3rd flying lap on full tanks before qually finished.
It was a good 1.5 secs off my PB but enough to get me 3rd on the grid....so not too bad I thought.

Martin had his Lola on pole ( that was gonna be a challenge to pass around here!) Mark ( I think?) was 2nd on the inside line for Paddock Hill bend. So the plan was ...get a flying start in the Porker and nail Paddock bend around the outside. So that if all worked out I should be into 2nd spot and on Martin's tail into Druids. That should put me in a good place to sneak past somewhere if Martin left an opening ::) ::)

You have to admit, it was a good plan, Maybe I should have shared it with other drivers so that they all knew what to do?? :-\

The flag dropped, I got a good launch in the Porker and as we got rolling and the wheelspin was brought under control I had just about given it 100% gas to rocket past Mark's Fezza when he got his diff and tyres all crossed up. At first I thought "great he will lose traction and have to back off. I'll be in 2nd before Paddock Hill". That moment of euphoria lasted about 0.8secs!! as  a big Red Thing slewed across the track and formed an immediate road block 10 mtrs in front of me just as I hit the afterburners!!!
Having watched the replay I can see that it was ( probably  ::) )not intentional, but either way I think Mark owes me half of his points for the race win because the impact from my Porker prevented his trip into the barriers, knocked him back to his own side of the track AND facing in the correct direction so that he could continue. Whereas your poor innocent victim ( pause for violins and "AAhhh's" ) was left on the grass and joining in last place!!!
The red mist did not help after that and although I picked up a couple of places negotiating a 3 car melee exiting Druids, I proceeded to over drive Surtees and spun out onto the grass dropping me waaay behind the fast guys.
The rest of the race was really a battle between Dean and his Fezza and me in my little Porker for the minor places. I caught Dean a couple of times only to make a small error and drop back again, until he went wide and I scurried through to pick up a few more points.
Grats to the podium places and to all finishers.

The final rounds of the Friday challenge will be absolutely Out of This World, and hopefully a great finale to the season.  ;)

Totally bad for me this weekend. After having wasted hours in practice to make the cars at least drivable...I've been the only one driver that was not able to join the server also if I could join to the other servers very well and at first shot, there has been not a single possibility to join the official server because of the 10054 error that I could not fix (and probably there was not anything I could make to fix it).

Due to the forthcoming holidays I take the opportunity for wishing you all a merry xmass and a happy new year and...last but not least...congrats to Axel and the guys on the podium for this last race and for all the championship.  ;)

P.S.: A special thanks to Clive who wasted his time and has lost his GT's race trying to fix my connection problems, I'm in debt with you mate so next race...when I'll be alongside you I'll try to respect you  :D ...oops...I think it could be very difficult to stay beside you as well.

For a change, I arrived at the track with 2 cars, which were both working as well online as offline.  Gt's are a challenge to haul around at Brands, but mine was semi-tamed and raceworthy, so I was hopeful.

May have traded a spot of paint with Ronnie, into Paddock Bend on lap 1, as 3rd place was grabbed.  The tight grid made our getaway precarious, but just enough racing room was given.  It's been great to race amongst the best of the UKGPL fleet, where such close action is possible, without causing constant tragedy. Umm . . . a lap later tragedy struck at Paddock Hill Bend.  I left my mark on the barrier, and Dean left his mark on me, as I bounced into his path.  No serious damage done. ::)

In real life, Paddock was one of the most challenging corners anywhere.  A blind ridge, and increasing positive camber, had cars bouncing off the barriers at every meeting.  It's a bit less daunting these days - the corner was shaved 20 years later, to provide some runoff for potential bouncers, and the camber is less.  The greater challenge is ours.

Meanwhile, my deranged Chap was still in 3rd, and trying to cling onto David's tail, when the motor up and expired!  Thereafter, it was a slippery slope to the tail end, as I tried one or two experimental lines, within sight of the track. >:(

Race 2 was looking good.  Easily fastest in practice, the Lola was phenominal. umm . . . phinomenal, or fenomi . . . . perfection!  Leaving the grid, I noticed I'd gained a benefactor, as someone kindly threw an extravagant roadblock, of breathtaking scope and scape. It looked as though I'd finally get to win one of these races!  But then, a fiendish red blob appeared in my mirror, and it's growth rate told me, my win had been slightly premature.

There was no holding Mark, unless I'd decided to leave my mark on him.  And with a trip over the grass at South Bank bend, (original name) he was gone.  Hung on for a gratifying podium, in a racing series I've much enjoyed.  Thanks guys!

Well. two problems with racing CanAm cars at Brands.  1, It's too narrow to pass, 2, the start line grid is bumpy, uneven and off-camber - which leads to these cars slipping and sliding when they try to get going.  Also, it seems pole position got swapped from the right to the left in between races, so I was back on the more bumpy side again for race 2!  While I can't dispute that there does seem to have been a minor collision of some nature, it seems that the Porker actually hit the back of the Fezza rather than the side of it (and while I was scuttling back to my side of the grid anyway).  After that I found myself stuck behind The Big Show - Martin's Lola had way too much power to pass until he made an error in South Bank and I was through.

The GT Mirage decided to blow it's engine on the first lap thanks to one slightly sub-standard gear change.  Talk about touchy.
