I seem to have missed the first round, can I join one of the teams (don't mind which)?

Hi Baab. I have a cunning plan to fit you in whatever happens. :shifty:

We currently have 3 teams of 5 drivers listed, which gives a level playing field. However, there is always a chance that someone will not show up this evening, in which case you can be the "supersub". If we get all 15 drivers on the server, then in the true spirit of Christmas I will invoke the "Grinch" option.

The Grinch can drive ANY 2 litre car. i.e. NO car with an engine capacity of more than 2000cc. So this excludes all 2.3ltr, 2.4ltr and 2.7ltr engines.

If we have 1 extra driver he forms the Grinch faction which will score double points and get a bonus of 15 points if he finishes.
If we have 2 extra drivers they both score double points plus 10 point bonus if they both finish
If we have 3 extra drivers the first 2 Grinch cars across the line score double points and the 3rd normal points.

The Grinch could still spoil Christmas  ;)

Update on the 1st race at SnowGlen.

The Santas have been deducted 13 points. Tristan took 2 resets ( only one was allowed for PRO level drivers ) and he failed to make a Stop n Go for either.  :nono:

So going in to tonight's race the current points standings are :-

Santas -      29
Elves   -      64
Snowmen - 57
Grinch     -  0

Because points are awarded right down to last place, every finisher scores and just a few points can make the difference. So fighting for the minor places should be intense  Plus, watch out for the Grinch !!

I hate to disappoint my fellow snowmen, but I'm unavailable tonight. PC is getting a new processor installed at a workshop.

OK, as I suspected there are a few casualties/no shows.

So Baab joins the SNOWMEN
and
Pete Joins the SANTAS

There is still a vacancy for The Grinch  ;D

Hmm...sorry for the crashes guys, Tris into the 1st hairpin then Dave and someone else (maybe Billy) who was a team mate   No excuses, on two of these occasions I was in trouble on the brakes, the other I misjudged the person in-front's pace through the final corner.

Apart from that I had a couple of other offs, a shift R & stop n go then was in no man's land for the rest!!  Cheers for the racin anyways.

Bob

If we did touch Baab I don't remember. I had enough incidents of my own anyway.

I also wasn't paying attention to who my team mates were. Sorry for my comment in chat Andreas - I could see you were in the Ferrari but totally forgot you were driving for the Snowmen. Well done on scoring team points! Good drives by Phil & David R. Be interesting to see the final results. Baab - your sub appearance might count!

Hi :) I download the track here and it's nice track with the snow folling and the fog ....nice one !
...after have been hit at " nouveau monde " by Bob (thx Bob ! ) I restart nearly last and have to fight hard to recover ...sorry Doni , I break as I can but not enought !apologies man !...fortunatly there was a good end for me...as the guys in front fight together and loose time doing some mistakes...then I can take the lead at 2 laps from the end .
Please guys , for the next race , if it's possible to don't hit me on the first lap it will be cool ...;)

Clive , I slowed to let you through on the pits straight  ( didn't see the point in racing the team leader when you were obviously quicker ) too bad went wrong !

I got taken out 3 times in total by "Pro" drivers who dont seem to care about others and think they own the track  :-\

My apologies Bernie. I was not expecting you to lift as your car was obviously much quicker in a straight line ( you had proved that on previous laps!!) and although I was probably too close and beginning to ease to the right, I was just waiting for you to accelerate away and open the gap.  Maybe we should arrange some semaphore messaging system for future races??  :-\. You were very quick and I was enjoying  the racing with you and I felt very guilty and foolish after the contact.
I can only say that during last night's race I had gearbox dyslexia. I lost count of the number of times I plain forgot what gear I was in and which gear I wanted next !!! I was hitting 2nd instead of 6th and it was almost a deliberate selection, as if I actually wanted 2nd???  It must be old age or total lack of concentration. Sorry to anyone who came across a Lotus with smoking tyres spinning along the tarmac half way down a straight. Eventually the engine protested that it had suffered enough abuse and went on a go slow for the last laps. I struggled to the finish just to collect a couple of points for the team.

I am a big fan of Max but I would love to have seen him racing in the 70's alongside Senna Schumakker etc  .

I just finished a bio of Jochen Rindt who I watched racing through his Brabham F2 days and into F1 with the Cooper team , believe me he was a country mile better than any of todays lot !

I was at Monaco when he won on the last corner of the last lap , Silverstone when he went head to head with Stewart swapping places 3-4 times per lap and almost every one a new lap record .

Rindt replaced Clark in my hero's book who I also saw race at Oulton Park in F1 F2 Sports racing and saloons .

Them was the days  ;)

Schumacher was only 10 years old in 1979 (and Senna was 19) so you mean in the 80's for Senna and the 90's for Schumy (and after 2000, too).
Jochen Rindt also won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1965 with Masten Gregory (it was the last win for Ferrari).

Elves   -      64 + 39 =97

Grinch     -  31

So the newcomer team of Snowmen take the win  ;D

All in all, we got a good result.
