GTR2 Fun Race at Anderstorp

Date: Wednesday 27th September

Practice 1: 8:15pm (30 mins)
Qual 2: 8:45pm (15 mins)
Warmup: 9:00pm (2 mins)
Race: 9:02pm (20 mins)

Cars allowed: TVR, 350Z, Morgan or Mosler
Weather: Rain
Track: Anderstorp

Server: Simracing.org.uk
Password: see this post

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the UKGTR Rules - especially the new speed limiter starting procedure.
(3) You may need to turn down the detail levels to ensure good frame rates in the wet.

You may need to turn down the detail levels to ensure good frame rates in the wet.

I was actually struggling last night in the dry; coming round the Adelaide hairpin, behind the garages there was a dramatic drop each lap during practice & qualifying from over 50 to the mid-20s. Worrying. Undecided

Not sure if I'll make it tomorrow, depends what time I get back from the cinema.

This is 2 days before official release. Isn't it wiser to schedule it a few days later and hope for a bigger turn-up? Or are you gonna plan many more fun races with GTR2?

Don't worry, there will be more fun races Ruskus. We had 13 last night, which is pretty good considering the game isn't officially out yet.

I can make this one!!  Shame I'm really not that much of a fan of the circuit (and in the wet .... ), but I will definately be there for this one, my first proper outing in multiplayer in GTR 2.

Haven't had a play in the Morgan or the Mosler in GTR 2 yet, might take the TVR for the sake of it (even if the view is awful) - but I'll have a play in all 4 and see what happens.

Chose Anderstorp as it's an easy track to learn in the wet.

Suprised you're getting slow frame rates in the dry Dave. What spec is your system?

Athlon 64 4000+
2GB of mammories
Radeon X1900 on PCI-X
SoundBlaster Xi-Fi SomeBigNumber

I was running it on slightly more aggressive in-game settings than GTL on the basis that most people seem to think it's slightly faster but mine seems to disagree. Undecided

At a guess I'd say that the CPU is the bottleneck, I'm getting good frame rates with my Athlon 65 3500 + and X800 card. I have most things turned up high, but I have shadows on medium (supposedly they are a big CPU drain) and trackside animations off.
