Gutted I missed this one - settled down early in the evening to watch a film with the missus, looked at the clock at 9.10 and thought "arse, the race has just started"....bit annoyed as I was looking forward to this one, and I always try and get in nice and early for the practice etc... Still, I WILL be there for the next one.

...no I won't - playing badminton this evening .... and it's not looking too hopefull for round 3 (my birthday so going out for a meal - but I'll see what I can do!).  I have however set a reminder for Thursday - so I'll see you all at Magny-Cours if not before!

About cutting track: I also got two warnings, one was a bit justified, I did turn a bit sooner, but the other was totaly off. I couldn't make the curve and was driving on the grass a bit on the OUTSIDE of the turn, not on the inside, lost a bit of time, too. So, wtf with a warning?!  Huh

What is the rule, you get a stop/go on the third warning, or what?

You get a stop and go penalty when you cut track a certain number of times (3 I think) within a certain amount of laps . But I really don't know what the numbers are anymore  Smiley I think you should look in the FIA rulebook for that  Smiley

On the subject of being lapped, as a lappee Undecided

I don't see how markers help, you can't see them in the mirror so you can't know if you're being lapped. This is especially so when you've been dicing with several Alfas, three of which are similar colour so on.

Also the Mini does not have even remotely the same racing line sometimes and I'm sure I got in the way sometimes last night. so I think the responsibility must be with the faster driver to pick a straight and go for it.

I only saw people flashing me when I watched the replay, and anyway what's to stop someone flashing on the offchance they'll confuse you Grin not that anyone in this company would dream of it Wink

You can see the vehicle labels in the "glance behind" view though - when I see a car coming up in my mirrors, before they get too close I have a look to see if I'm being lapped or being caught for position, and adjust my driving accordingly.

Great racing last night guys! I think I got a slight tap on the first couple of laps, then spent a lot of laps chasing Truetom. I could only just keep with him - no chance of overtaking unless he made a mistake!

Sadly, it was me who made the mistake, I lost concentration after about 12 laps (I was really tired last night), and slipped off on one of the corners where you have to brake and turn at the same time. Got back on a few places down, and had a dice with BigG for a few laps.

I think 25 laps around the full Mondello was just too long, but then again it could have been because I was tired anyway. I just went into 'zombie' mode, or perhaps my tyres went off. Yeah, it was my tyres Cheesy

Talking of being lapped did anyone see any sign of a blue flag or other indication that you were being lapped?.

There is a blue light that flashes on the overlay dials. Don't forget a load of people have also "disable all character anims" in their plr file (d'oh!) so you wont get little marshals waving flags either! And I think I remember saying that would happen neee naah nee nee nah... https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=844.msg10437#msg10437

Angry  Soundcard died at start of race so I couldn't hear a damn thing! tried for a few laps but it was no good, so I decided to leave.  Sounds as though you all had a blast.
Going to try and use onboard sound tonight, so will try and be there.

Mon dieu! I've just seen the results. Alfa city last night!

Could I request that we get more different cars please in the next races. This is a test season so not the be all and end all of MUST WIN mentality. Especially the fast guys, we need to see what the comparitive performance is of the other cars so that we learn as much as possible from Season 0.

Thanks.

Its not going to make for great racing if the Alfas enjoy that performance advantage everywhere. I hope the mini can be more competitive on the shorter tracks.

At least I was first non-Alfa driver home, surely deserves some points     Smiley.

I'm not sure it's anything to do with the 'must win' mentality, I think it's just a case of the Alfa being a very nice car to drive. Ok, it's fast at the same time, which helps, but even with the defalut settings it has no vices and never really bites you in the ass if you make a slight mistake.

I usually go with the Alfa, for the above reasons (I was also one of the first to register with the AlfaCup), but tonight perhaps I'll be Mighty in a Mini Smiley

I was in the Cortina, and didn't feel disadvantaged by my car choice. Possibly the Alfa was a touch faster, but there wasn't much in it.

If you look at GTL Rank, you'll see that the Cortina is better than the Alfa, and it is in real life as well. I'm no good in it, so I picked the Alfa. And again, I don't see the problem. If there is a open race with all the cars in a class, surely you are able to pick your favourite. And if you want close competitive racing, go for a cuprace, like with the Escorts.

Must say the variety of cars on track made it extra special, it was great having dices with cortinas, minis and sliding Falcons about. Alfa was the car of choice but there were a fair few others.
I think the aliens should be forced to drive mustangs and falcons for the whole series ! Grin
