Sometimes knowing a track "really well" on line is not a great advantage. Was the same at Croft and Castle Coomb (Evil CLive was good enough to come
and watch me being pathetic there  ;D ) Even if the track shape is close you don't get the gradient changes like the real track
E.g there is a serious dip out of St Mary's that I wasn't expecting on my first practice lap  :o
It is a great track, and I was really pleased to have driven round a few times at any pace :thumbup2:

One of my fellow competitors with a supercharged S2000 had brake failure (he said) at 145 mph at the end of Lavant straight and
rearranged the tyre wall so badly they ended the meeting early as it would take ages to make it safe again.
His car was a write off, and he broke a bone in his foot.  :'(

Nicely done Matt, have you tried the new AC track. From watching your vid, its very close (maybe spot on) and it ain't even finished yet. http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/goodwood-circuit.141009/

His final reaction must have been to his own health, don't think is reaction to the car would have been quite so circumspect.

the car is probably a write off. some of the brake disks were smashed, someone said there were
no wheels on it, one of the marshalls took some pics, but haven't seen them yet.
Damm scary experience in any case....

looks like fun Matt, are you on cold tyres for that hotlap straight out of the pits?

Be there myself in two weeks in ye olde 911, hope its as dry and bright as you had it  :o

MSA rules - no tyre warming allowed.
They are R888R so 100 wear rate, and suit a long track quite well, much softer
and they would melt. Was a glorious day, take out a mortgage for the butty wagon!

Surprised they do it on cold tyres even from a safety angle   :o though triple 8's are pretty sticky. Like the idea of a bit of competition with the sprint though. Always fancied hill climbing but they are always too far away and too short a run to make it worth the trip.

That was definitely the wrong place to have a brake problem............assuming that there is actually a good place to have one!!

I am guessing that was your colleague that I briefly met at Castle Coombe, who had the turbo Honda? Please pass on my wishes for a speedy recovery from his injuries (and rapid amnesia about the crash and the damage to the car!!).

Fortunately no, the supercharged one was Tim, I think Tim was at Coomb
Roger was my pal you met, and he had an off as well, but not so bad:

Its one fo the reasons why having laser scanned tacks really pays off.

I have done about 1000+ laps at the ring, never been there in real life until a couple months ago, did 2 pax laps and then had a go myslef. Managed a 8:30 in a megane rs (big booty style one) first ever driven lap.

I will go back in my car and i expect to be hitting sub 8min laps.

It felt exactly the same as in ac, i was even expecting bumps and when i got there, there the bumps were.
