1) Standing starts will be used for both races.

3) * The 'qual' session prior to race 02 is for the purpose of setting the grid in reverse order from finishing positions in race 01. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE AND REJOIN THE EVENT DURING THIS SESSION as this would disrupt the starting order.
4) Please stay within the game (if possible) even if you fail to finish in race 01. The grid order for race 02 will be decided from finishing positions in race 01. Drivers that leave before the end of race 01 will be placed at the back of grid for race 02.
5) Drivers suffering unforeseen 'disco's' in qual will be assigned their 'proper' starting position ONLY IF TIME ALLOWS. However this cannot be guaranteed and it may only be possible to start them from the back.

This event will be run slightly differently. The second race will only see the top half of grid (exact number will depend on attendance) plus/or minus 1 driver (decided on the spin of wheel, and I've already bagged that ace job :) ) reversed. The drivers below that threshold will be placed randomly on the grid.

We feel this change is necessary for two reasons. One was the unacceptable number of incidents occurring at start of R2, we are all a little reponsible for that, and the fact that the slower drivers, at least those that have let their feelings known, do not want added pressure of heading the field. They would rather have the chance to settle in and enjoy the fun. Hopefully this will mean a few of the newer members will join us and they will be more than welcome.

Hopefully this slight change will help improve things for all concerned. It will also mean, without a "demolition derby", that my chances of winning have prolly gone  :). Please let us know if you foresee any problems with these changes.

Sounds good, but keep in mind, Donnington is just as bad as Adria in terms  of overtakingabilities. Most corners are very fast and not possible to overtake. Only place is at the Esses, but even there it's very tricky as the entry is quite fast for that chicane.

Yep, I know what you mean Ruskus. That really is the reason for the changes though...so the faster drivers don't have to worry too much about trying to pass the slower ones early on in race 2, they will just be racing each other and it should make it more down to driver skills rather than who evades (or doesn't cause even ;)) any early mayhem. The slower drivers will be in a 'seperate' race between themselves and will not have to worry about causing mayhem (or getting caught out by others even ;)).

We think it is worth a try to see if it can lessen the causes of the first lap incidents we seem to be getting at the moment.

Probably the UKGTR version of Donnington National?

Certainly :).

Can I be cheeky and ask for a setup from someone. Is the bimmer still the little horror it was in GTR1?

Expect to lap me 3-4 times in the first 5 laps!

First race I had a great fight with Jon. Good to see him back, even if it might be once in a while.

2nd Race was very rough, I got pushed off a few times, but even worst, I punted TinMan off while he was in 2nd  :'(. Missed my brake point and when I slammed the brakes the rear locked up and I just hit his rear right, sending him in the tires :(. Concentration was shot as I was disgusted with myself and didn't feel like continueing. I did continue and went off few more times after, as I couldn;t forget the incident.

Sorry Tinman :'(

I hated the bimmer in GTR1 and can now confirm I ain't too keen on the GTR2 version :). Although I struggled with it, I sure did have some fun.

Both races had plenty of paint rubbing but all fair and above board. Thx Jan and Madd-Ripp for much fun. Stupid black flag on last chicane of final lap in R1, avoiding jan, could prove costly. Just disappointing to see so many incidents again, it really does put people off :'(. Real shame. Still, keep the faith and together we might get there  :)

Congrats to JR and TT. Gotta say the ballast thing does make a big difference, to us mortals at least, and now gets a thumbs up from this sceptic. Welcome to lard arse land TT :)

First race was bad for me. Tapped Madd-Rip in lap 1, making him spin.  :(  Waited for him but the race was ruined. Might be due to my driving the whole time with race setup, so I was used to it more and was braking later than most, even in the beginning with cold tyres. Sorry again, Madd.  :(

2nd race was won for me by Tinman. After I got by in T1 I was able to make and extend a gap which was 15 seconds in the end. There must have been carnage behind, as Tinman left the race after he lost 2nd place. He deserved that 2nd place, I bet he was working his a$$ off to stay there.  :(

Thanks again, Tom and sorry you didn't make 2nd.  :)

TT

P.S. You mean my ... will get bigger, SBG?  :P

A pb in quali was a nice start but then those dastardly legends got me again!  :P
np TT you waited and put paid to your race too, it was like Snetterton all over again, from the back! Then made a massive boo boo and tried to make a hole in SBG's car at chicane by braking too late, locking up and then waiting for the impact, thankfully I got me face slapped big time and lost a few positions, but got hit with a  cut track, and then I added another couple later and had a s/g, typical!  ::)

2nd race saw me spin my car all on my own and guess what....start chasing people down again! I was very lucky to finish where I did because of people coming off but tbh this series, even with the contact is just brilliant, everyobe is constantly going as fast as they can and trying different lines to get that small edge. Proper racing.

Is it correct that there were no ballasts in use for the second event?

Post by: JonM_uk on October 08, 2007, 10:29:43 PM +0100
I had great fun in the 1st race racing Jeff and also Dan for a few laps. Had a great side by side dual at the start with Jeff and I crept over a bit too far going down craner curves and made contact, I backed off a little but it made no difference to the corner as Jeff had the inside line to the old hairpin. After that I don't think I ever really got close to overtaking other than hassling Jeff a bit. He's just too smooth under pressure to make a mistake for me to get past. It's always nice to drive behind Jeff anyway with his sideways style 8) Really enjoyed the race, great stuff 8) 8) 8)
Big thanks to TT on letting me have his setup. It made such a big difference to the way I could attack the corners. About 0.8-1.0s a lap better off. Thx TT 8) 8) 8)
Grats to Jeff in the 1st and TT in the 2nd
Cya soon boys ;D

No..the ballasts were actually there but myself and SBG must have done something wrong in the import ::)

The only thing I can think is that SBG managed to get race 2 results up before I had time to do race 1 so that would probably effect them showing.

That was great fun again....Good racing and I was on the pace (with some :o) I made a couple of errors, one in each race that left me on my own for the second 10 mins but alot of late stop n goes etc lifted me up a bit ;D

Well done winners and pods.

oh, and by the way,

No - it's just that you didn't generate the ballasts file for the second event so the system simply doesn't know that there were any ballasts in that event. Now fixed.

Just thought I should apologise to whoever it was I hit going back onto the track at turn 1. It was a complete SMIDSY. (Sorry Mate I Didn't See You)

Also thought I should mention that I hadn't driven that track before, or that car. And I didn't have any setups. And it was my first race online.

Still a good race though, and I'll definitely be racing again if I get chance.

Lol, Tib, I was throwing my setup all around so if you didn't use it it's your fault.  :-*
Don't worry about other things, we were all there once. Just drive on and it'll get better. Drive some time-trial off-line, use your ghost and line, improve. That'll get you on pace in no time.  :)

P.S. Is there a replay available? I'd like to see race 2.  :)

Great fun these races.5th in the first race after beeing in the gravel as an innocent bystander in the TT/Mad collision .In the second race i got second place after people taking each other or themselves out in front of me.Then a few laps be4 end Dan was much faster then me up the hill into Starkeys we touched( no big deal),i ended up in the grass and got a stop and go!!
That was strange because i was traveling through the grass for quite a bit,i mean i see no gain from such a cut.Anyway LOTS OF FUN,so for Spa i hope the grid is bigger ,this format deserves that.TT thanks for the setup ;)
