Tried the various cars I had not used yet for this race. When I got to the Rover SD1, I remembered Clive mentioning that Hristo had uploaded his setup in the previous race. Decided to try it, as I've been far off the pace with that car before. Setup turned out to be brilliant, making the car both the most enjoyable and the fastest among my options. Now I must try to reverse engineer it, to see if I can figure out what makes it so good
Didn't expect much from the start, as the Rover won't spin its wheels, even with revs at the limiter, so tends to bog down. Alfa must be worse though, as I ended up stealing the lead from the two new aliens. No too happy about the restart, as it dumped me from leading the race, to 14th on the grid!
When the restart went, it seemed like most other cars were moving backwards - I went from 14th to 2nd. That qualifies as my best GTL start ever, with some margin!! May have to reevaluate my perception about the SD1 and getting it off the line..
Now I was behind Manfred however, but very unlikely that I could have kept him behind me the entire race, had we not had the restart, so in the end, I probably didn't lose out as a result. On L1, I momentarily slipped into a ditch, letting Manfred stretch the gap and Micha close up behind me. He was right on my tail at the start of lap 2, but then vanished. With the unbeatable Manfred already gone, the rest of the race was completely lonely and uneventful.
Grats to Manfred on the win, and Hristo for filling the podium. Commiserations to those with problems.
Misnoimis, when using a sequential shifter and wanting reverse, you must first put the car in neutral, and then downshift. To go forward again, you again put it in neutral and then upshift. I have a button assigned for neutral on my wheel - can't remember what the default key for it is, but it's in the setup options.
