Ah - yes, I remember now. Wouldn't it make more sense though if drivers only scored for the place that they finish in, including the non-team drivers? Giving a driver a stack of team points for finishing near the back just because those in front don't have a team seems a bit wrong.
Very old ground! Large teams would eat all the points and besides, unless you give points in proportion to how close to the leader each car finishes, how is this any different from awarding the 50 to the winner, 43 to second and so on, even if second finishes 12 laps down on the leader?
