Title: UT2004 Session Post by: picnic on January 17, 2006, 07:20:50 PM +0000 Date: Sunday 22nd January Start Time: 8:30pm Server: SimRacing.co.uk Password: utprac Ok for a bit of a diversion who's up for some SimRacing.org.uk UT2004? It's been on the server for awhile and Shark/Aagramn and co kick my butt at this too There are quite a few maps installed so I've tried to reduce the list a bit. The server runs Map Mixer so will be random selection of all game types. I've no idea how many players the server can support so we will have to suck it and see. The game is patched to 3369 from using the megapack from here (http://download.beyondunreal.com/fileworks.php/official/ut2004/ut2004megapack.exe) Word of warning I lost my player profile installing this so I suggest you back up first. We will also be using ONS Bonus Maps ONS-Ascendency and ONS-Aridoom from here (http://download.beyondunreal.com/fileworks.php/official/ut2004/UT2004-ONSBonusMapPack.zip). There has been an ECE update for ONS-Ascendency which can be found here (http://download.beyondunreal.com/fileworks.php/geeks/ut2004/maps/original/onslaught/ons-ascendancy_ece.zip) This update has been installed on the server. To further expand things the two Community Bonus Packs will be used. This includes CBP1 and CBP2-Volume1 and CBP2-Volume2 along with an update for ONS-Valarna that includes the ECE vehicles. Bonus Packs can be downloaded from planetunreal (http://www.planetunreal.com/cbp/) and the ONS-Valarna update from here (http://download.beyondunreal.com/fileworks.php/nalicity/ut2k4ons/ons-cbp2-valarna-ce.zip) There are quite a few more maps on the server but to save everyone too much grief I'll try and limit the maps to those included in the above. Looks great on my pj so I'm prepared to get seriously arse kicked again. The only mode I was half decent in was Instagib, hope that turns up on the server.

There's a mod called TAM out which is NW, but with full armour and all weapons right from the start, it's pretty active and good I heard. I'll certainly try to be there Picnic, nice one! T P.S. What other games are installed? Quake4 is on it's way over here (hopefully) for instance?! He beat Lauke in a 1v1 once (2k4 DM) and was well known in 2k3 instagib .Thought it was too easy, so he moved over to normal weapons, haha! Just for the record, hehe, my claim to fame is... I beat him once in a 1v1 instagib DM out of about a 100+ games we played, rofl! A bit like me driving against JonM ;) :D T P.S. Lauke is world champ UT2k4 now. And the score is 2-1 to Lauke I was just informed ;) Title: Re: UT2004 Session Post by: fozzmeister on January 17, 2006, 11:21:16 PM +0000 Painkiller is a game and a half, dunno about multiplayer, but single player is a one man gorefest, does without practically an story progression, objectives or anything, and is just old school thousands of bad guys and you with a big gun.

I don't want to clutter the server up with too much stuff, nor spend my life configuring the games, but if there is enough interest in a game I would consider it. Probably more as a between season distraction than during a season. Any server must be free of needing DX graphics and a CD or DVD drive. Preferably a freely downloadable dedicated server would be available too. Didn't think about the impact on you Picnic :-[ LOL I don'd if I get enjoyment out of it :) I suspect tonight's UT may be a little troublesome. I've just spent 45 mins editing the maplists, trying to find where 130 maps came from so I know if they are in the packs we are using tonight is a real mare (and that was just one game type). Hopefully I got rid of all the ones we're not using but I suspect not >:( If you find yourself downloading a map, please make a note of it so I can remove it from the list I have now.
