The Formula Two Trophy series is intended to provide straightforward head to head racing between drivers of all levels in these well matched cars. The final championship positions will be determined after each driver has discarded their worst result.
The 67F2 cars are suited to the smaller club circuits as opposed to the longer Grand Prix tracks. Most countries have a number of club circuits but only one or two Grand Prix standard venues. Consequently it is feasible to hold a F2 championship using club circuits based in one country. For this season we will be using club circuits in England.
Drivers will be allocated 10 tokens at the start of the season with a further 10 tokens for each race they start (including their first race). A driver who fails to start any of the first 4 races will only be eligible for an initial allocation of 5 tokens (rather than 10) but will still receive a further 10 tokens for each race they start (including their first race).
Drivers must pay the number of tokens for the chassis they use in accordance with the following table:
Chassis | Cost in Tokens |
Matra MS7 | 16 |
Lotus 48 | 14 |
Brabham BT23 | 14 |
Matra MS5 | 14 |
Lola T100 (FVA) | 14 |
Lotus 41B | 12 |
McLaren M4A | 12 |
Protos 16 | 10 |
Lola F100 (BMW) | 10 |
Cooper T84 | 6 |
Ferrari 166 | 3 |
Brabham BT14 | 0 |
For example a driver who chooses a Matra MS7 in round one will receive an initial allocation of 10 tokens and 10 tokens for starting the race. The MS7 costs 16 tokens so the driver will have 4 tokens left after the race. If he chooses a Lotus 41B for the second round, then after receiving 10 tokens for starting the race and paying 12 tokens to drive the Lotus 41B he will be left with 2 tokens. That means after receiving 10 tokens for starting round 3, he will have 12 tokens and will not be able to afford to drive a Matra MS7, Lotus 48, Brabham BT23, Matra MS5 or Lola T100 (FVA).
