An impromptu race at short notice at a track which most people should be familiar with.
I have selected the Monza from the track pack as I have not tested the 1988 version
and many people will already have it with luck.
Gulf is likely quickest, but the MKII will be fast on the straights.
I will do some testing tonight for the race lenght. 20 laps is just a place holder.

And thanks to Tony for sorting my mess of the post  ::)

Where can I find the UKGTR track pack?

Find only the update 1.2.0.1 with 2.6 MB.

Thanks for a short reply.

Click on the red download this link in the race announcement. Then look at the bottom of the page where you will see a big picture.

EDIT: I'm just testing the content now. Will report back ASAP

I had been testing with 1.2, but as the link has 1.2.0.1 we will use that. It will show as UKGTR_Monza 2004
It looks the same but probably has harsher cut tracks.

Thanks for your answers - it lasted a long time til I understood.

UKGTRMonza2004 is a modified and additional version of the original GTR2 track Monza2004
(which wasn't included in my personal P&G install)  ::)

Works now.

Sorry for inconveniences caused.

See you on Thursday.

No!

But I'll send you what I do have and the TT lap to go with it.

If we are going to have a quiet spell between seasons could I suggest that a Mini PnG School Series be tried, whereby the leader of the pack is obliged to post a "Good" TT lap at least by the Sunday before the next race, to help everyone to improve?  Penalty for not providing the lap, say 20pts?

Within SBRC we swapped a lot of laps and setups for each race and having John's lap to chase was a great benefit to the rest of us.  Also, he often found that he went still quicker with Stig's setup than his own.

Unlike GPL where, although the cars are more difficult to keep on the track, there is a wealth of tools to help the learner, PnG has nothing and trying to improve is hard going.

Many give up because they get fed up with arriving at an event and learning for the first time that they are five seconds off what they thought was a good time!

P.S. Good proposal Clive ;)

Did a few laps and 20 is about right at my pace for ~40 mins so I will leave it at that.

Monza is not my fave track, but I needed to put on a race at very short notice with
no testing time at all so this is an "easy" and well known track with "easyish" cars.

The GT40s are a bit clumsy through the chicanes, but are quite fun in the lesmos
or at least they are the way I drive them  :o

I'm not convinced that folk "give up".

It's obvious to me that if you can afford the time to practise you will improve. Unfortunately a lot of folk simply don't have the time.

I second that, what with gardening and preparing "estate" for winter + probems etc  ???, I'm finding it difficult to practice, particularly with an understeering car and tight corner cutting rules.  :cursing: :censored:  My timed laps have been minimal.  Not withstanding that I'll have a bash tonight but don't feel hopeful.  ::)

I will be home for this... I have done 3 laps in the Gulf and 3 in the MKII
Gulf times are around 2:05 ish and MKII 2:08 ish minimal setup so both could
go faster. Gulf is the obvious choice, MKII is there for any masochists/self handicappers
who want more of a challenge. I will try to post some "easy listening " setups later if I get
home soon enough. If anyone wants to PM me their email I will mail you whatever I have.

Stig nearly caught me near the end, but went off one too many times.
GOod fun, thanks to all who came out to play, and grats to Pods

Yup, I'm the Disco Duck :( Not sure what happened as it wasn't a connection issue. My computer just decided that now would be a good time to restart ??? A shame as it would of been fun to see how the MKII would of held up. It was great to see Henry again this week but I would guess that means you are still sick heh? :P Get better soon ;) Nice turn out all around and I was very happy to see this fun race as earlier this week I was thinking only one race this week? What to do? So thank you Matt for putting this together 8) Congrats to Ade for the solid win. As well to JVP and Clive for their respective podys. Cheers fellas

Smooth race for me at the back of the field until I got my first Stop & Go penalty.
After the second Stop & Go I lost concentration and destroyed the car irretrievable.

At least I was able to improve my best lap to 2.04.874.

Thank you guys for organizing this event.

thx now back at work and on monday starts my vacation - yeehaw

@special
great first part of the race.

at least 2x SnG for me and at the first time i was surprised by the pit screen. guess it was the first time that i got a SnG in GTR2/PnG.
and thx god there were no aussies in the grid. last time we drove the GT40 in their league they demoralised me by a few sec per lap in the same car. :'(
seems aussies and yankees have the muscle car/GT$0 gene
