Title: UKGPL Season 22 (2011-2012) Pro (65) - Bathurst - Oct 28
Post by: Cookie on October 20, 2011, 02:34:00 PM +0100
To celebrate the end of this season break!
We will do a last Friday fun race with the 65s before the S22 season starts, Funrace open to all drivers.

The race will be run Down Under at Bathurst, Mount Panorama.
One of the more challenging circuits I choose for the pros!

This will be my first UKGPL race to organize...

- to check how my server performs under full race conditions.
- to test the wonderful Mt.Panorama-Bathurst track.

This will be an intermediate race of 50min -> 23 laps.
Unlimited Shift R is permitted but each must be followed by a Stop & Go of a minimum 0,001sec.;)
There will be a conventional start with no loose grid!

You have a free choice of chassis.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP address = TBA
Race date = 28-10-2011
Track = Bathurst, Mount Panorama
Time = 21:00 UK time
Variant = 65 F1
Chassis - free choice.
Damage Model = Intermediate
Qually time = 30-45 minutes (server will start at 20:45 UK time)
Race length = 23 laps
Password = None
Chatroom = UKGPL
The track can be downloaded from here (http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=180)

Here you get the replay (ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Replays/Archive/Season22/FunRaces/)

Best to use the latest one when available as it starts to push out the old S21 series links (above right).

hallo guy's ,
have a question for the race this evening hopefully someone read this be for the race start  :P

Because this is may first race online (by the way my name on line is t.Sven) i would like to know what " conventional " means , is this than a standing start or a rolling start ?
I read also that there is no limit regards shift/r but we have to do a stop and go , no problem with that but do we have a speed limit in the pitstop ?
And now the last question , what about the Gallons yes yes ..... perhaps a strange question but how much will we put in the care because if we fill the care full and we do a little crass ( lets say after 15 laps ) we do a shift/r but the care is than again full with gallons knowing that there is still 8 laps to do from the 23 laps so this would be a disadventage .
Now ,  may we also put for example gallons for of half a race do a pitstop and than continue complete the rest of the race .
You know there i have not so much experience so a little help would be nice .
thanks for reading this svenvangent (t.Sven online name race )

 Yes this is the risk and penalty in this GPL, you have to live with! A stop at your pit costs you way more than you loose from the weight  ;)

In Formal Championship races there is no shift+r allowed for refueling and tire temps!!! More info : https://www.ukgpl.com/index.php/rules/sporting

Hi.

The start is standing.

There is no pit lane speed limit, but make it controlled!

As this is effectively a fun race it doesn't really matter if you reset for fuel, however in normal season races the race announcement routinely includes "A Shift-R for tyres/fuel is not allowed", so I would suggest you plan to fuel for the finish.

Hope that helps :)

Edit: Axel 'speedypants' Cookie beat me to it!  ;)

Really great race, and the track is awesome too... I had the stock one btw. The first laps were abit messy, lots of crashes around, and I had some touches and spins here and there, fortunately with no fatal results as i can remember... after that it was pure fun, probaly one of the first races where I didnt have to drive alone for most of the race... Have been chasing cookie for a while, then he made mistake and i overtook him, then steve bird (i think...) chased me for the last laps, but wasn't fast enough to catch me... Quite fun all around.

Not a track I go well at, but the race was fun and had company for the most part.

As Sky has said already the first laps were quite messy, but it settled and I was chasing but couldn't get on terms fully.  Half the race I drove ok but the remainder was full of unforced errors which didn't help my cause.

A fun race to warm up a bit for the season.

Cheers.

I have added the replay to the announcing first post, the import of the result is yet a little tricky for me...

Yes it was a great fun race  ;D
Had battles with Steve and Sky on very good level :fencing:
Phantastic track!

Hope the server was good for all of you!?

And the start of the race was also good .
After 16 lap Raoni past me and than it was a little bit lonly to race .

It's often prudent to race with just the stock track, as updates are likely to be authored by a 3rd party, and no guarantee can be given that there won't be problems.

There are many addons which run fine, so you don't have to do that. You'd miss a lot of great tracks if you confine yourself only to Papy tracks.

Yes folks, there was plenty of drama at Panorama!  Mine started when my car failed scrutineering - my economy wheels dead zone progressed from 5cm, to 6 or 7 during practice, which meant I had to drive carefully.  So while carefully challenging the leaders, on the first lap, my engine had an argument with it's innards.  After that, I failed to avoid all the corners, which made overtaking the entire field, a bit too difficult!

The Server looked good - I jumped out to watch a couple of great scraps, towards the finish.  I think I may need to use more Araldite, if the bubblegum and string doesn't work. :(

Sorry for my bad english, Hristo, i intend that i go with tracks without modifications in graphic, not only Papy circuits.

Ah, they rarely make low-quality tracks now, graphics wise, so it's as if you already drive some of them with an add-on. Personally I don't think that's what causes issues.

Thanks for Cookie to host these races, all was fine on the race and i didnt have big problems, not even screen freeze i use original track with no any grafical updates.

Race itself was exciting, trying to follow duo Mark Jones and Göran Jonsson, Göran's Brabham was more powerful on straights but i was able to catch him on the slower track sections, i was even able to catch slipstream sometimes on backstraight and got the amazing 265km/h on the straight with Bt7  :laugh: .
Raoni with Ferrari was closing fast behind and actually passed me on the end of the race but did mistake with Göran , so i got 2nd place on the finish.  Good track !!! :laugh:
