Title: UKGPL Season 22 (2011-2012) Pro (65) - Preluk - Nov 8
Post by: Cookie on October 28, 2011, 03:02:20 PM +0100
WELCOME TO THE UKGPL Season 22 - Pro Trophy

For the first round we go to Opatija, locally known as Preluk, this was a 6.000 km track in Croatia, used between the 1930s and 1977.

Driver lists can be found on the Pro Trophy (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=341&theme=6) championship standings page.
As long as there is an Intermediate division possible, Pro Trophy will have a free car choice.
Drivers will have to remain in that chassis for the rest of the season, they will only be allowed to swap chassis in exceptional circumstances and only with the approval of the moderator.

There will be full moderation of lap one Red Zone and reported incidents for the rest of the race, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident.
Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

Please restrict chat to an absolute minimum!

Retired after losing a wheel against a tree.

4secs off pole in qually, but in the race i realised i could keep  pace with some people so enjoyable whilst it lasted.

I struggle to think of a bigger risk / reward track than this. every corner encourages you to carry more speed than last lap or to brake later. In the end, thats what did me in, chasing a little too hard, when i suspect i should have hung steady and waited for others to crash out.

I looked with envy at the packed out servers in the Nov's and Inter's on my way back to the pits as i suspect i'll be plodding round at the back most of this season in Pro but thought i'd give it one last shot.  :(

Yes yes yes , three laps and i'm out :) .
damn al this practice for just a little race snif snif snif .
Ok what happen ....... starting grid first place for NR22 T.Bot second place NR12 M.Barresi and
third place me , start was good race whent on without any crass/accident until we arrived at the Bivio turn there T.bot missing his turn and M.barresi follow him in strow bales , because of that i could pass M.Baressi but T.Bot could continue his race befor i also could pass him , from that moment it was a close race between T.Bot and me ( must say it was fun ... yes man :)) .
At one moment in the third round between Crnikovica and Ljubljanska cesta (PFFFFF ...  what a crazy names to write :))  T.BOT lose control over his car in one of those crazy turns and i was not far away from him so i could not avoid him because of the close battle we had , at this point there was not much damage for bothe of us if it was not that NR7 G.Jonssons came kissed my car slightly with a explotion following for me and my car and we
flew me and my car  high in the sky .. he he i even took a picture of it when i saw the replay .
SO my first shortes race ..damn it was good but  regrettable that it was so short .
Alleeee hup to the next race .
Thanks for the server and race guy's

Apologies to the Pros that it took me three goes to get the server going... I was rather busy and my mouse was not working well. Hope it left you enough time.

Free car choice!  :o

I had just ranted on about MagicArsouille having been given a Lotus when I noticed that, lol.  :D

TBH, it's not a good decision IMO. With an Intermediate division you could've had a much more precise handicap in Pro and thus create a very close championship which does not turn into spec racing.

A big compliment to the pro drivers!
I can't see the signs of a spec racing, with 6 different cars driven  ::)
There will be a bigger problem of spec racing at the ints!
The pros had free car choice, but have to keep it now.

Well I really did not have a free choice did I?  SHE was watching  ::), so it had to be the Honda.  ;D

With Tristan, Mark and ( I'm not very fast) Sven in the fast seats, plus Al and Goran also ahead of me, this race looked like it was going to be hard work!!

I jumped Al off the grid and gained a place when the starter dropped his flag. Everyone behaved themselves for the first lap and I found myself behind Goran who seemed to be taking things carefully as his tyres warmed up.
After a couple of laps we came across Mark recovering from an incident and we moved up to 3rd and 4th spots. I started to close on Goran and was beginning to think where I might pass him, not an easy thing to do on this track against quick opposition.
Just as I was getting really close to Goran, we came across the leaders spinning across the track. Goran could not avoid them and I thought that I might just squeeze through....but I was wrong and found myself spun around and clipping a lamp post. That did not do the steering alignment any favours!!!
When I recovered I found myself in 3rd place ( I think???) and still going reasonably well.
Then I passed the car in 2nd spot when it tested the scenery and I was some 400mtrs behind Tristan who was still running in 1st spot. For lap after lap the gap stayed more or less the same, but a small mistake by either of us would make the gap open or close. I was lapping comfortably in the 2:06'sand felt confident of at least 2nd place with a chance of 1st if Tristan made a mistake. But..............
Through the whole race I was getting frame rate issues going up through the Esses and eventually that caught me out. I think everyone knew that there is only a single fast line from the hairpin up to the top of the hill and if you get off line then you are in trouble.  One particularly bad frame stutter sent me towards the rock face when I should have been turning right  :-\  I rode the wall of death and thought that I might just recover, but a strategically placed lamp post and straw bale made sure that I did not, by flipping the car over and parking it on my helmet!!!
Grats to all those who survived and to Tristan for some very quick times. Looking forward to the next races already

HI :D
....WELL i'm happy of this victory .....I make the pole in the my last lap , 'cause with the trafic and my FPS and multi-lags problems it was not easy to get a clear lap ...but I got it in my last attempt ;D.....it was very important to be in front of the pack , because of the difficulty to overpass here and to avoid a incident in front ......
....well , I take a good start ....but I miss the braking point at the end of the long strait line and finish in the straw but I cant go on with no damage .....2 laps later I spinn in the  "S" after the first right corner .....and some pilots can't avoid some others ( sorry guys :(  ........but you know ...." this is the looooooow of the west " ..... ;)
...after this 2 incidents , I try to keep my concentration on top and continu to attack  ...Ithink I make the BL in the last lap ...
Grats to everybody ...sorry for the short fight ....special thanks to my team , mecanics and Lotus who give me a perfect car .....
............ " rendez-vous " under the sun of Mexicooooooooooooooooooo ! ( where it will be more difficult for my Lotus  .....)
     .........ciao tutti la tribue  ;D

Pretty track but not one I relished racing on - so I didn't put in much practice as I suspected it might get very messy. Like Clutch (who I'm expecting to see a lot of this season ;)), I was way off the pole times so decided my best race strategy would be to go for a safe "cruise" to the finish but sadly I didn't even get to complete one lap. An incident between Mark & Natan after the 2nd hairpin allowed the 2 cars ahead of me to nip by Natan as he tried to recover back to racing speed - I followed Evil through & had got my nose ahead as we neared the RH bend but then Natan suddenly shot ahead up the inside & speared into Mark in front, with all 3 of us wiped out in the resulting melee. There is no contact visible between me & Natan on either my replay or the server replay, so I'm assuming it has got to be a warp incident ??? - if not, one for the mods perhaps.

Congrats to Magic A, Goran & all the finishers.

If free choice remains, I can guarantee you would have much less than 6 different cars on some tracks.  ;)

Read the rules Hristo ;) Drivers can't change their cars unless they will get permission from a moderator ;)

Sorry Hristo, but maybe its my bad english...

"Drivers will have to remain in that chassis for the rest of the season, they will only be allowed to swap chassis in exceptional circumstances and only with the approval of the moderator."

This sentence in the race post says, the free car choice is for this S22 and not for each race!

The active drivers seem to have understood ;)
See Juha!

Had a good result last night - I chose to start at the back (Honest - it wasn't a complete and utter lack of preperation!  :ninja:) and as a result managed to avoid the Carnage with Natan, Al, and Mark.
I then settled into trying to get a rythem going while I learnt the track better - at the same time dealing with interest from Clutch (Who I passed off the line) and Juha who both clearly wanted to be infront of me  ;D

After I got my head down I started to pull away over the next 2-3 laps, only to clip the outside haybales at the top of the hill near the hospital. The resulting spin carried me nearly halfway down the hill before I came to rest and allowed most of the field to re-pass me, I think only Fulvio missed out on the free positions as I rejoined..

A lap or two later Clutch span in the esses climbing up the hill and I passed him again only to find that Juha was peddling his BT7 ( Brave choice! :o ) as fast as he could so I wasn't really gaining on him very much.
A few more laps passed as I improved my lines and slowly started to reel him in, when I eventually did so he suprised me totally by moving over and lifting to allow me through - I expected a fight!  :D
At this point I was maybe 4 seconds behind Alex but gaining fairly rapidly with lots of laps remaining so I continued pushing as hard as I felt was safe and eventually caught him just intime for the long run down the hill.
I moved across to the inside in order to outbrake Alex (I'd noticed he braked earlier than me here anyway while catching him) and he made it easy for me by slowing slightly earlier than normal - probably so I didn't collect him if I out braked myself  ;D

Due to numerous retirements and the shinanigans of the start I was upto 3rd, qiute a way back from Goran but also gaining on him at a steady rate. No hope of catching him though as only 3 laps remained.

All in all I'm chuffed with 3rd given my starting position and dodgy setup (Direct copy from a Schotten setup with modified 5th gear!)

Pleased to see all the new talent in the Pro's this season - hope you all stick around as it looks set to be an interesting fight  :thumbup1:

Well done Tristan and Goran, and of course our other finishers  :)

yes i thought this was the track where close racing were impossible and maybe cause an accident when watching 0,001 seconds too long on mirrors cause car hitting one of those light poles.

good race for me too , i did practise under 10laps maybe?  for a race i was setting up a "cruise" mod for BT7 and it worked quite well  ;D , not singe error and i learned the track during the race distance. Fighting with Tim and A.Barresi with Ferrari  who i tried to catch but never succeeded as Tim was closing behind 1 sec faster per/lap.

BT7 worked fine but will lack speed on fast circuits.

good start for 65 season !
