Assuming this race will use the simbin lobby, announcement details need amending.

Hi Guys, Been doing most of my racing over at iracing, but subscription ended and I'm waiting to see if they do anything for Black Friday. Anyway I digress, downloaded V3 and decided to have a blast round Silverstone 88 in the Cortina.............................. simply amazing, loving it, especially using clutch and stick shift. Probably miles off the pace, but managing 1:54's 1:52's comfortably with no drama's, sure there's more to be had if I swapped over to the paddles, but its sooooo much fun with the stick shift ;D

Two questions Tony:

1) Is'nt this race going to be shorter than usual ? 16 laps will very far from 40 minutes. Don't know how that happened, good spot. Race announcement now updated.

2) It's a bit embarrasing to ask this, but I need to be reminded. We are only allowed to use the Gr. 2 Mustang BSCC right ? Right

Hi Jamera, welcome back ! Long time no see. Totally agree on the stick shift, i am loving it with p&G3 even if it is costing me a bit of time, it just makes it so much more immersive  :)

Ive probably lucked in as my car choice in this last group is the Bscc2 Mustang, which im guessing will have an edge here for pure power. Shame it still feels fairly dull to drive to me, like the earlier P&G version, but then there was nothing fancy about the real version of this car either, just brute power.
1:47's PB for me so far.

Just finished a praccy with the Mann Cortina. Default setup is fairly good. Don't know if it's the track or what but I just don't get a feeling of great speed. Driving down Hanger Straight at over 100mph should feel more invigorating than the pedestrian visual feedback I was experiencing. Most odd.

ive always found that with GTR2 though to be honest. It is often track dependant and proximity of stuff at the sides of the track though. The big open 'airfield' space of Silverstone in 88 exagerates it further. If you watch any onboard vids from a console racer like Forza4, there is a definite feeling of speed in it compared to these now 5yr old sims. Isnt there an option in the game for a feeling of world movement? Not sure if that tweaks it  :-\

When I go on an Italian highway at 160 km/h (100 mph), I feel almost stucked on the road with my Alfa 147 if I'm going in a straight line, and I don't feel the "thrill of speed", mainly cause the road is too wide. If I do the same with the Porsche at 270 km/h (approx 170 mph), my "back" feel not as safe as if I'm driving at 160 km/h, and the road shrinks a bit... like my "back" :).

Silverstone is an open field airport, so I guess that it's realistic that you don't feel the sensation of such "high" speed. If you drive a kart in a tighter track, I guess that even 120 km/h are enough to feel the speed sensation. It's a matter of road width. I tried this track with the F188 mod, and they give you a better sensation for sure... probably is not the "right" track to have fun with a Cortina this one. Maybe with the Mustang trans-AM should be a more rewarding experience of driving. It's just a suggestion ;)

Hello  :)

I would like to join you for this, if thats ok. I have been sim racing for quite a while now offline, and recently practicing a lot on PnG with my dad goldtop.

I was hoping to take the Alfa GTA as I've been practicing in it with lap times between 1:47 and 1:49.

Hope to see you all on track.

Which laptimes did you managed guys?

Tomorrow I will be at the Olimpic stadium in Rome to watch S.S. Lazio vs Tottenham Hotspurs. I will never forget this fool guy that played in both the teams. His first gol with S.S. Lazio was just against the A.S. Roma, in his first derby of Rome. I was at the stadium watching that match, and I'll never forget it. He should be at the stadium tomorrow. His name? Obviously... PAUL GASCOIGNE!

We have had to contend with fast drivers in fast cars "bobbing in" all through the season!

Don't see why they should be banned just because I now want one!

I hope to make this to contend for a potential 2nd in the season (If I can dispose of Clive :ninja: ), but fear I might be unable to race due to the utterly useless superhub Virgin have forced onto me. Don't think you lot will like 2 second+ pings if you're on track with me ;)

I noticed, that the server is set at max 16 drivers. Will that also be the setting for tomorrow's race ?

It seems there's a renewed interest for P@G now, and it would surely be a shame, if not everybody could get in  :'(

There's plenty of racing to be had here for us latecomers to the championship without taking the quickest cars and without getting caught up in the battle for the series (although I'm sure Clive, John and FMG if he could make it would welcome the challenge).

I'm looking forward to scrapping it out with Jules in the Alfas  :)

I believe 16 is just a low setting for practice servers and the race will allow 26 ish. I seem to remember we had them queuing at the door when 2.1 first came to town and it's good to see a resurgeance of interest now V3 is here.

We have had to contend with fast drivers in fast cars "bobbing in" all through the season!

i think maybe thats a rule that should get changed if we run any kind of similar format in future championships. Although great when the field increases, its quite frustrating for the front runners (or even top 10) when some fast pants comes in a superior car and nicks the lions share of points  :o
Its worked pretty well this format other than that anomaly.  :)  Maybe make it the ruling they can only run a midfield car or be hindered like the rest of the top group so that they have to earn the points  ;)

Low 1:47s in the Lotus Cortina so far, so I guess if the ‘Stangs don’t experience tire trouble in the later part of the race, it’s going to be a low-midfield place for me at best…  :o

But as Goldtop rightly mentions above: there's plenty of racing to be had without taking the quickest cars. I had lots of fun during the season and hope to join you in the next series with a massive turnout of new competitors!

Cheers,

In a larger league the impact won't be as pronounced, hence such a rule change IMO would be pointless.

it wasnt meant as a criticism Tony  :-*  ;)

But if you look at the BTC series alone there were 7 races where 'pop in drivers' (ie drivers who did only 1-4 events) got wins or podiums, thats quite a haul of available points and now we get Clive in a season finale hoping someone turns up in a faster car than the rest of us to win it and prevent his rivals getting the points !...that isnt quite cricket old chap!  ;D

Just finished 2 qualif sessions in quali 2 session on your server with BSCC Gr.2 and Trans-Am. they're separeted by 2 approximately 2 seconds in my test.

1.41.9 with the trans-Am

1.44.0 with the BSCC

I hope you will have a good race guys.

This is the link to the setup I used for both the cars with quali fuel => http://vda.forumfree.it/?act=Attach&type=post&id=519715798 (http://vda.forumfree.it/?act=Attach&type=post&id=519715798)

May the best win!

Now I'm going to see the "lap of honor" of Gazza ;)

Cu chaps :)

While practicing online Mike Lowry and I discovered what is probably a P&G V3 bug.

There seems to be a problem with the Alfa # 42 !

If two drivers try to use that car, it will cause a CTD for the one entering the game.
This problem apparently only concerns this particular car

My suggestion is, that NO ONE uses the Alfa #42 online.

Stig
But were not using the GTAm2000  ???

Hmm, I wonder if I could get Cap7 to turn up in a fast car and park himself between me and Clive...

What a despicable trick!

You should be ashamed of yourself!    ::)

Ooh I see if John wins and Clive is 2nd, they both finish on 356 points, nice. Johns had 5 straight wins on the trot though  :o. No wonder Clive wants pop in drivers to claim the whole podium  ;)

Shame it can't be a straight fight between them though...everybody take Alfas and Tina's  ;D

Nice to see the old faces return to the races  8)

Really enjoyed that. Sadly, I've not been able to race PnG here as much as I'd have liked....I need to sort that out :-) .

Having not raced, gave me a full car choice, so went for the Mustang Trans-Am.

Qual: Was P3 up until 0:00 on the clock, but luckily snuck in a sneaky quick time seconds before the server changed over.

Race:Having only raced 1 round of this champ, I went into the race a bit blind as to who was chasing what in the championship, so keeping out of trouble was key.  Got passed by John & Geoffers off the line in to T1, and followed for the next few laps as they diced for position.  A couple of times I could have maybe joined the party, but with cars only a few seconds behind us, my fear was that we'd all end up losing time.  Pace was pretty much equal, but once John got by into the lead, I was on Geoffer's boot for the rest of the race, but unable to pass.  Then with 2 laps to go his Mustang's rear left touched the grass on the exit of Copse, and it caused a spin, and I got by into P2.

Looked like some great dices through the field as I watched the cars over the line on the monitor.

Great stuff. Well done all.

Well that was an action packed race  :) great turn out made the track action excellent, especially in the early laps when sometimes 4 or 5 abreast! :o but all kept clean.

Qualied 8th with a new 1:45 pb  :) but at race start I got caught out as just as I glanced down at my shifter the lights changed and I got left standing, and a heap of wheel spin didn't help! But had good fun fighting my way back through.
Had a long chase with prib and got close once or twice but he then seemed to find an extra sec or two per lap and pulled away from me. Also had a good battle with super swift in his feisty cortina.

Had a bad spell between laps 13/14 to 17 when the tyres seemed to go off and lost heaps of time including my only visit to the grass, but then they came back to me, very odd. ???

Alas with only 3 laps to go I stupidly tried to put the car in 5th down the hanger straight (it's got 4 gears)  ::) out of pure habit! And the engine instantly detonated into flame  :'( I was a clear 8th or 9th at the time behind Clive  :(

What a wonderful event that was and great to see so many new and returning faces turning out for this. A sign of good things to come methinks  :)

Fantastic racing from all those around me and I know I'm a bit biased here, but what a great first outing for my little 'un  :) My heart was in my mouth most of the time as I had a great view of him battling it out just up ahead of me......and he didn't put a wheel wrong all race. Well done Jules  8)

Congrats to John on the win and the championship. Can't wait till the new season, whatever form it takes  :)

Great race. _Very_ clean first lap.
Totally outclassed by the old and new faces in the beginning but hold on.
Could gain some places and had a nice fight with Jamera. Cool stuff  8)
Congrats to John for the champ and to jules for a good, mature drive  :thumbup1:

Thanks all. Very enjoyable.

Great turnout for this, good to see a few old faces back as well as some newcomers. Hope you all enjoyed it & will be back for some more.

Race started well but ended a bit disappointingly. Didn't think I got too good a start but it must have been OK because I grabbed the lead. Soon had John & Ross (sounds like something out of 'Dallas' ;D) homing in & looking for a way past. Held on for 5 laps until I was a bit slow out of the chicane & John got ahead into Copse. Remained close for many laps with John eeking out a small lead & Ross staying close behind. All went wrong at the end though, got a wheel on the grass at Copse & spun & a couple of laps later was a bit to eager on the gas at Becketts & spun again. So eventually finished 4th  ::)

Congrats to John, Ross & API

And congrats to John, Clive & FMG on the championship podium.

Hope to see a big grid again next week.

First of all, thank you all for letting me join for this last round.

I've been away from PC racing since FORZA4 came out. More than 1 year.  ::)
Yep, I was addicted to paint and make liveries. Made almost 500. Real, fictional and a mix
of real and fictional. I just love it.
Back on topic now.

Tried to not cause any arm at the start and lost 2 places.
When things went more stable, I was chasing Clive.
When we're braking for the chicane a few laps later, I lost my braking point and the only way
to avoid contact was crossing over the grass, ended up in front of Clive and ofcourse,
gave him back the position on the S/F straight. Sorry for the scare Clive.  :)
With that in mind, I quit of giving fight to Clive to not disturb his championship fight.

A bit later I was in battle with Mark. For a few laps I had fun and remembered all the fun
I had with SROUK gentlemen for more than 5 years (maybe more).

During the last third of the race, I saw Clive on the grass (problably a spin), and then I managed
to overtake Simon. Last 5 laps were a nightmare with my RL tire with 30% wear and all red.  :whistling:

All in all, after one year without racing on PC, I'm happy with the race. But even more happy for
racing again at SROUK and with the lads. TBH, I really missed you.  ;)
Fortunately P&G3 came out and the will to PC racing reborned.

Congrats to the champ winner and thank you all.

Cheers

P.S. I will be not able to attend to all races, but I hope to participate in the next serie. ASAP.  :D

Went with the Alfa and didn't regret it... a real gem of a car!

Finished 2nd in race 'B' (behind the stangs  ;)) after spending the race closing the gap to Swift. Caught him and MJ while they battled and then I had a 5-odd second CTD and kept the wheel straight just in case it came back, and luckily it did. Dan had closed up behind me and so began the long slog again to catch Swift! Finished a second or so behind him after Dan and I got a bit racey in the last few laps!!!

Agree with Paulo..... been a long time since I had a SRou race and it was like days of old. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Great Race, :)

I actually can't believe that I got 11 because I thought I would crash out quite early on. I messed up on chapel on the last lap and Goldtop was about 0.3 seconds behind me. Then it was just a battle to the finish.

I beat my dad in the first race! He must of nodded off  :)

Great race and thank you to everyone for letting me join  :)

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for a great race last night, really, really enjoyed it and it was sooo nice to be able to push the car without worrying about "SR" & "off track x 1" (Clearly I've been spending too much time with iracing )

Joined the server about 5-10 mins before qually 2 and have to say I probably should have given this one a miss as I'd only just finished mounting my new wheel and hadn't even tested it. That having been said, I felt I was doing quite well until I manged to spin out and fell almost to the back of the field, battled to catch up again and then span out and damaged the car. I limped into the pits for repair and got out just in time to land right in the middle of the battle of the white & red alfas.

Anyway, had some REALLY good battles along the way, thanks to all

Good to see you again after some time, chaps ;)

Decided to give it a shot in PnG (especially Png 3 :P) after a long time.

Qualy went pretty well. I didn't really had a chance to get any qual laps before the session so I really didn't know what to expect. So I was very satisfied with the p4 in the grid. The race itself then didn't start that well. I didn't remember that there wasn't any virtual starting lights in GTR2/PnG. Because of that, I failed miserably in the start as I actually found the lights about 0.3 secs before them turning to green. :D Lost a place, or two, or three, as I dumped the car in the start. After that, I had a great fight with Simon. Good stuff, mate. 8) However, I eventually managed to pass him as he made a litte mistake in the exit of a turn. After that it was just about me driving by myself and keeping the Stang on the gray stuff. However, about 2 laps before the finish, Geoffers apparently had some sort of incidents so I eventually got an undeserved 3rd spot. Bad luck there, Geoffers. :( Good win John and well done Ross, too. :)

All in all, I had loads of fun and I hope to do more of these races in the future. Huge thanks for the organizers, as always!

Finally I have time to write something about Thursday.

Firstly congratulations to John and many thanks to Tony for running the series.

Obviosly the fastest bloke won but then when was that ever a requirement?    It would have been a bit of a travesty if I were to have won and I was only in the contention due to John having made some generous car selections during the season.

Fantastic drive from Geoffers too!  Don't tell me that you are a v3 beta tester as well!

I just couldn't find any pace at all on the night and being blind at Copse didn't help much.

I was behind API on the grid and got in a right state trying to go around him.  He saw me off coming out of Becketts and I settled to try to catch him and Simon.

Never made much impression until Simon dropped it and API had managed to pass him by then.

Pribero gave me a fright but then backed off so that he didn't get “involved”.

Simon was catching me and suddenly vanished.  As a result I was gazing at the list of runners and riders as I hammered through Chapel.  The next thing that I knew, I was on the grass and heading for the solid looking parapet of the bridge.  I managed to get back on the grey bit for long enough to pass under the bridge but then wiped both my headlights off on the Armco.

That let Pribero, Simon and MJ through.  I managed to pass MJ and Simon very kindly drove off the circuit at Becketts whilst looking at the fuel gauge.

Pribero was too far away and getting the hang of the TransAm despite his tyre troubles so that was it.

Good field and hopefully that will continue so that I sometimes get a decent car to fight the aliens with!

Grats to Ross and API on their podium finishes.
