Indeed, could be fun. Needs more testing yet, if the 275 is way too fast, then lightweight jags may be added.

We used to race in the ROTW P&G championship with the 275 GTB/C vs Jag Lightweight 5 spd 2 years ago... They're really close in laptimes ;)

This is the link to best laptimes in the 3 races we've used it (you have to click on the tracks of the Garage 2 (Bridgehampton/Brands Hatch/Enna Pergusa and then scroll down the page for every track):
http://www.racingontheweb.net/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=265 (http://www.racingontheweb.net/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=265)

I guess it would be better balanced the field if you add the Lightweight, but I didn't tried these 2 cars on Zandvoort yet.

I add that probably the 250 GT (not competizione), would be totally out of pace comparing it to the 275 GTB/C, and the same thing should be for the Jag 4 spd (both Coupè and Roadster). I will do some test soon anyway to see if there's too much gap between the 275 and the rest of the field.

Cu :)

F the faster drivers take the slower cars then perhaps it doesn't matter that the cars are not equivalent.

What about the 250GTO? Would be another nice addition.

I'm not at home at the moment and I don't have access to some simracing pages like
nogrip and others from the office, so I can't check this.
But as far as I know the 250GTO hasn't been released for P&G yet - only for GTL2GTR2.
That's a real shame.

Looking forward to this one.

Yes Special, 250 GTO is not part of the P&G 2.1, and it will be released with the v3.0.

In my first test, I tried in this order these cars to have an idea of their laptimes in race trim, and how they're close to each other:
275 GTB/C => 2.02.0
250 Berlinetta => 2.09.0
250 Competizione => 2.07.0
E-Type Coupè 4spd => 2.05.0
E-Type Lightweight => 2.02.0

I will have to try again both the 250 to go down a bit, but their respective pace is really far by the 275 GTB/C and Lightweight 5spd. My idea is that 275 and Jag 5spd have nothing to do in this group, cause it will be really difficult to compete agains these beast for a 250 or Jag Coupè 4 spd. Evenmore, I guess it would be better to introduce the 250 Competizione in this group of cars, cause it's surely more balanced with the Jag Coupè 4spd, than the 250 Berlinetta.

I believe that 2 better balanced groups of cars could be these:
1) Ferrari 250 Berlinetta/Competizione - Jag Coupè/Roadster 4 spd
2) Ferrari 275 GTB/C - Shelby GT 350 SCCA/CASC - Jag Lightweight 5 spd - and maybe Shelby 289 Roadster (even if it's slightly faster than the rest of the field).

5 or 7 seconds gap in race pace is too much to be replaced only with a good driving... do you agree with me Clive? :)

However, take it only as a suggestion, cause any decision you will take, it would be fine for me... I always based my choice on the other drivers which usually are on my pace, so...

Cu :)

My feeling from testing at other tracks is that the lightweight is more or less similar to the 275
so thanks for the testing guys. (and BILL)  250 is there for those who want to self handicap.

This is after all a democracy  ::)
I need to save some cars for the next race and the next and the next .....

I agree with you Matt, but I was just wondering if you could consider to save the 250 Berlinetta here, instead of the 250 Competizione, that is at least more matched with the others. Admitting I should go down a bit in my laptimes with Competizione, I see difficult to go under a 2.05 with it. I guess it would be a more suitable choice for those who want to self-handicap. At least it can compete with the other cars, especially the 275/Jag 5 spd. duet, if well driven.
In other words, if the faster drivers won't take the 275/Jag 5 spd, racing with the 250 Competizione could be a great challenge, but at least would be possible for it to compete agains that duet (pushing very hardly). At the opposite, I see difficult for everyone to have a chance to compete with the duet, driving the Berlinetta. That is my 2 cents ;)
However, any decision is up to you Matt, I promise I won't bother you anymore  ;D ;D

Cu :)

I meant no 275 competizione. I will look at the 250 options, I would like to keep it to
Ferri v Jags  but whatever works is what will be run.
Again thanks for the input Matteo.  :thumbup1:

I meant no 275 competizione.
I guess we had a small misunderstanding Matt. I thought you was referring at the 250 Competizione, but you was talking about 275 Speciale, that actually is called "275 (Competizione) Speciale" (so you're right :)). So, if I understand well now, the 250 Competizione was already available, before my useless observations  ::).

Again thanks for the input Matteo.  :thumbup1:

You're welcome :)

humyo doesn't seem to know what the hell it's supposed to be doing.

Is it Zandvoort 2007 GP?

I have that already but as for anything else who knows what might be required.

EDIT!!!

OK, so I have proven that it isn't Zandvoort 2007 GP by trying to join the server.

Can someone please point to where I can find the right track?

Bill, is it the three track version by Dutchdevil?

EDIT: Just tried it myself and it is the Dutchdevil version. Use the Gamefront link above if the Humyo link doesn't work for you.

When I click on the original link humyo just comes up with file not found.

Won't have time to try anything else until tomorrow.

Thanks for the other link Tony.  Is that a "could be this" from the bloke who set the server running or just a random guess?

Guys, I am not at home now until Thursday, but I can log on to my system there and the version I was using
is the one I already had which is the link Tony has given. It is the one with 3 layouts.

And there I was trying to make things easy by using tracks off our downloads page...... ::)

EDIT:
Both HUMYO and Gamefront are 404 at the time of writing.

Bored with variable service from Humyo and all the others, I will now be putting files up on my own server
I have changed the link on the page to be:

Tried a few laps last night in the Lwt E-Type, mid 2.03s best, still need to get rid of some understeer, so hopefully can get into the 2.02s. Might try the 4-speed one as the 5-speed doesn't seem to have suitable gearing, lowest ratio is a bit low & the next one up is far too high.

I don't mind if you are 5 seconds slower than me.   ;D

From memory, my times are a low 02 with the LW 4sp Jag, 03 something with the 275 and 05 with the standard Jag Roadster.

I'm quite looking forward to giving the Lightweight Jag an outing as I have never used it before but if someone wants to set a "Benchmark" of 2:05 then I am happy to thrash the Roadster if this will make for a bigger "Bunch" at the front of the field.(With or without me)

Hi guys :)

These are setup files of the cars I tried til now, but I guess they're pretty close to default setup... I tried each car only 10/15 mins, so I don't think I've made great changes by default...
As ever, remember to adjust the steer lock, cause it's set to drive with a rotation of 900° on the G25. If you use lower rotation degrees, you must lower the steer lock ;)

http://www.humyo.com/FCrSYMC/Zandvoort.zip?a=fpjHt-YNprg (http://www.humyo.com/FCrSYMC/Zandvoort.zip?a=fpjHt-YNprg)

Won't be able to do more laps before the race, so Clive, if you will drive the Jag LW 5 spd, be sure that I won't give you such an advantage  :P :P

In any case I will drive a car "Made in Italy"  ;)

Cheers guys :)

Manteos, the problem with Humyo is this.

If you were registered before they were taken over you can generaly use it fine. However users have been notified that there free status will change in the future and there will be a cost to using theore services (Boo).

After the take over new users had to pay so it's become less popular.

Sorry about that Stig :(

I've just tried to do some more laps, and I've done only a few tweaks more on the 275 GTB/C (I used the Paul Vestey skin... with the drive on the wrong side  ;D ;D). I set the power at 10%, and front fast/slow bump to 4, and the same value for rear fast/slow bump (4).
Leave the fast/slow rebound both front and rear at a value of 6. That's all :)
Best lap update in race setup: 2.01.386 (in quali 2 online on UKP&G server).
I uploaded my best lap. Hope it will be helpful :). Link =>  http://www.humyo.com/FCrSYMC/Zandvoort%20Grand%20Prix_111117_0117%20HOT%20LAP.Vcr?a=xgPaHWUfBm0 (http://www.humyo.com/FCrSYMC/Zandvoort%20Grand%20Prix_111117_0117%20HOT%20LAP.Vcr?a=xgPaHWUfBm0)

Did you tried it in practice 1 session Stig? The grip is really different, and it could be the cause of all this gap, maybe the other cause could be different settings on the wheel. I can suggest you to try my G25 profile and see if it works for you:
Global effect strenght 100%
Spring effect strenght 100%
Damper effect strenght 100%
Spring centering effect 100&

Rotation degress 900°

In game I set in controls menu (advanced): Speed sensitive steering 20%
The rest is all at 50% clutch excluded (100%)

I Hope to be able to race tomorrow...
Cu folks :)

Fantastic race guys!

I promised to drive a "Made in Italy"... but who doesn't tell some lies sometimes  ;D ;D

This time, I changed my car at the last minute, and I went for the Jag Coupè 4 spd... not that I like it so much, but it was surely an interesting challenge to drive it around Zandvoort and have a chance to compete with the 275 GTB, that was my favourite for this track.

At the start, me and ade were immediately side by side, but at the third corner, a couple of cars spun in front of us, and this time I was the lucky man  ;D. I avoided the 2 cars, and I gained the 4th position, starting my chase on Clive. Ade was not so lucky, unfortunately  :-\

After 2 or 3 laps I was glued to Clive's exhaust pipes, and the fight begun. He was defending his position with great tenacity, and I studied a lot his lines before to be able to pass him. Finally I had a chance on the main straight, and I pulled the brake at the first corner, but Clive had a better acceleration on the inside line. The subsequent corner I had the advantage of the best line to set the corner, and he decided to pull the brake going slightly wide, so I was able to cross the line and passed him.
The second "round" of my race started when Mark slowly replaced the gap by me, and it was another good fight ;). Was really difficult to keep him behind me, but I was successfull for at least 8-9 laps before Mark was able to pass me. We passed each other a couple of times, and I have not spared to him even a couple of "knocks"  ;D ;D to re-gain my position. However they were only a couple of slight contacts, and I guess Mark shouldn't be angry about this ;), cause I was really on the edge defending myself with my nails and teeth giving 200% of my capabilities trying to catch the podium.
With only 2 laps to go I was really unnerved by his pressing, and he passed me at the first corner pulling a great brake. Fortunately Mark has made a mistake going wide at the long right corner of the second sector, and I passed him again with the chance to put 1.5 second gap between us, that lasted until the end. I guess both the drivers deserved the podium, but racing are strange, and you must stay focused until the end.

Thank you for this great race and especially to Clive and Mark for the duels. Grats to Matt and Geoffers!

Cu for the next :)

That was a great race ! Really enjoyed it  8) Shame the turnout was pretty duff for such a great combo  :-\

Qualied well, getting 3rd on the grid with a 2:03 and feeling in good shape for a battle at the front...for once!

Got a good start off the line and got myself in 2nd/3rd place but alas that only lasted until the 4th corner when i was punted off from behind into a spin in that tight left hander up the hill :'(
Thought that it was going to be it for my race knowing how quick the front 4 would be but set off like a man possessed and with the car handling well in race trim.
Soon formed a 10 sec gap to Ade behind me, which surprised me knowing Ades pace in these historic racers and started to close on Matteo and Clive ahead. They were having a fantastic battle for lap after lap and this allowed me to catch them after about 10 laps of trying! Matteo got ahead and pulled a gap and i began attacking Clive. He got a bad exit off one turn in the infield, allowing me up the inside but alas as we turned into the following tight right hander side by side, my car washed out a tad to give him a slight side nudge which unsettled his car mid apex. I thought he would come straight back at me in attack but he seemed to give up and dropped back 10 secs within a few laps  ???
Next target was Matteo for 3rd and we then had a titanic battle for the last half of the race. 8) I was constantly trying different lines and braking points to get past but he raced superbly as ever, and we had plenty of side by side and close clean racing. :thumbup1: With about 3 or 4 laps to go, i finally got past and managed a 1.5-2 sec lead for 2 more laps. But!!...with 2 laps to go, my concentration slipped and with worn tyres, i ran wide at the fast right hander, just enough to allow Matteo to scamper back through and grab my very hard earned 3rd place  :'( Could have kicked myself as not had a podium finish for ages !

Very refreshing to have great close racing, makes it all the more rewarding at the end. If not for the early contact it could have been a fight for the top 2 places but ney matter as it was great race for me.  :)

Congrats to Matt and Geoffers on the top 2 steps and Matteo for a hard earned 3rd  :thumbup2:

Qualifying went well new PB,  fluffed start by allowing engine to fall off the cam and got away slowly in last place.  Gained a few places thanks to contact ahead and was OK until 2nd lap when I too the exit to that sort of chicane after turn 1  took fast got 2 wheels onto grass and spun across track into barrier.  Continued in last place again but the suspension was slightly out of square and had difficulty staying on line in corners.  Had a few more offs with the situation getting steadily worse, pulled over into kitty litter and quit when the leaders appeared to lap me.

Ah well, move on to next weeks GTL dreckly - proper job.

I did practice in the 4sp Lightweight Jag and was in the 2:02s but some distance from Manteos.

Since Ade has a habit of keeping his powder dry until the last moment I thought that this was going to give me a very lonely drive in a solid 3rd place.  So at the end of practice I left the game and switched to the standard Roadster, one of my favourites, although I must admit that the Lightweight was growing on me.  I thought that this would put me in the middle of things.

I managed a 2:04 in qually, after a Lightweight Jag had finished beating me up.

At the start I gained a few places and slotted into 2nd but at the start of lap two, with Matt sat on the dirty marks on the road in front of me, I missed my braking point at T1 and allowed Geoffers through.   :taz:

I hung on for a while but made some mistakes which let them get away.  Then I had Manteos to cope with.  We had a good tussel and he gave the back of my Roadster a few gentlemanly taps when I got things wrong right in front of him.

I can't remember exactly where he passed me initially but it wasn't on the straight.  That was my attempt at getting back in front.  I slipstreamed him down the straight and took the inside at T1, from which we exited side-by-side.  At the next left/right wiggle I was on the right and I tried to get through there side-by-side as well.  Manteos was more sensible and unknown to me had backed off a bit so that when I got the righthander wrong and slithered across the track he was able to cut across behind me and pass me on the way to the hairpin.  Sorry about using your bit of the track but I think that in the heat of battle I forgot to change down.    Mark tried to grab some of it as well but an exchange of hub caps and door handles fended him off at the hairpin.

Not for long though, as I fell foul of the roo-bars that he had fitted to his 275 later in the lap.

All was still to play for until the following lap when I went off into the sand at Scheivlak.

As Mark has said, that dropped me to about 10 seconds behind him and whilst I was hanging in there, I couldn't close the gap.

It was good fun and much better than stooging about in third all on my own.

Grats to Matt and Geoffers and also to Manteos in the first of the slow cars.

I probably won't bother with the wet oval race in the dark so will see you all again after that.

Wasn't sure wether to use the 4-spd or 5-spd Jag, I was a bit quicker in the 4-spd but for some reason the 5-spd seemed easier to drive so went with that. Got pole after Manteos & Clive changed cars but threw it away at the start. Got away well, then everyone just drove away from me, then realised I hadn't changed into 2nd gear!

Managed recover 3rd place at T1 & got 2nd on lap 2 when Clive ran wide at Tarzan. Spent the rest of the race chasing Matt, got close a couple of times but not close enough to attempt a pass, & eventually had to settle for 2nd when I made a couple of mistakes around lap 16 & lost 2-3s.

Congrats to Matt & also Manteos in 3rd.  :thumbup1: :thumbup1:

Previous and separate experience of wet, dark and ovals suggests not.  ;D
