Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=330;theme=5)

No way  ::)

34 x 90sec laps is nearer to 50mins

In my hands the Porsche is smooth and fastest, definately the easiest drive, The Boss is 2nd fastest but I need more muscles to drive her. Then the Escort which is a joy but hits the limiter on that long downhill section and finally the Beemer that scare the life out of me at every turn.

Hmmmm It'll have to be the Beemer then  :D

Just checking, its the 79 Kyalami that we are using, isn't it?

Judging by Tony's description and the 34 lap approx 50 minute race length, it must be the '79 track (and as that's the one running on our server  ;)).

Looks like those times at the top of the page in the lap records are from the modern track, so could that be a potential issue with LM2 settings?

I might be tempted out of the porka for this one  :)

Edit: Just checked and neither the 911 or the Escort are showing up on the server.

34 x 90sec laps is nearer to 50mins

Then it's not Kyalami as stated in the race announcement, it's Kyalami 79.

Kyalami 79, with it's chicken wire catch fencing is appropriate for this car group.  Remember one infamous race where all the leaders finished up surrounded by posts and lengths of chicken wire at Woodcote when they found the track in the rain with standing water - not bone dry as on the previous lap.  ??? :'( :'( :'(

My bad, I'll modify the announcement. But the download link points to the correct track. The lap record times are for the 2005 version of this track. I'll have to check LM2 to see if I've chosen a wrong track in error.

Yeah ;D back up and running 8) couldn't find my 19" monitor base after having it mounted on the wall for years, was looking for something else and found it stashed away under the stairs
Had a few laps and I'm fastest in the 911 1:27.9   1:28.4 in the Boss and 1:29 in the Escort.
@ Tony you can increase 5th gear in the Escort independently and it doesn't run out of revs, I'm running out of revs in the Boss and BMW though.

Ti's good to be back behind the wheel
                                                          Cheers Ade

Excellent!!  And isn't that always the way things go. Can look all day for something and then usually a couple of weeks later it will just pop up out of nowhere. Plus, just as you see it you will remember why or whatever reason you put it there in the first place and you start thinking "am I getting alzheimer's?" :P  Hopefully it's just old age ;D

Chat said "You have been kicked"

I was alone on the grid - so I went back to pit and that was it.

"Merde"  ;D

Choose the Boss cause it was really fun to ride the horse although it
seemed to be the slowest car with a very weak left front tyre.
But I was unable to find any suitable setups for the Porsche (no pressure
on the front axle) BMW and Escort simply undriveable for me.

Could it be that the addon cars have a stronger ffb feeling?

See you next time guys.

Same here, but this is a known bug. If you + or - to another car then go back to your own, you should now be able to see the other cars. Worked for me.

You appeared to be "stuck" mid track with engine running.

Yes I think the FFB varies from mod to mod. I'm sure your teamie Navin can help out with that hot tyre problem.

Damn, I had looked forward to Kyalami (one of my favorites from the GPL) but the day did not go quite as planned. Should in MRI scans again, was totally destroyed afterwards & fell asleep.  :(

Hope you all like a little Destruction Derby today (Tuesday).

If ever there was a night that looked like being a cracker of a race this was it, yet sadly it all went Pete Tong.

A circuit that is always popular and a record turnout should have meant that everyone was going to get an exciting race but it was not to be.

Even before the lights went green we had lost several drivers due to internet witchcraft and one booting (which incidental was not done by me). Then as we set off and hit the first turn we had the usual mayhem. Messages started to appear saying that drivers couldn't see other cars so I red flagged the race. Unfortunately we did not get our lost drivers back for the 2nd start so with a reduced field we set off again.

Now maybe I shouldn't off stopped this 2nd race but it was the call I made, rightly or wrongly. Mark had forgotten his setup and there had been a couple of big crashes at and after turn one.

So the 2nd race was red flagged too.

With a further decreasing number of drivers the third race was started and this time I had to let it carry on as it was getting quite late by now.

Not the event I had hoped for.

Take heart those that missed out, you do get a free car choice now if nothing else. Hope you all come and try again when we visit Navin's home track next time.

Cheers

WT

Thanks Navin - I'll look into it.

Thanks also to Tony for giving me a surprising 2nd (and 3rd  ;) ) chance to make this race.
When posting my comments here I saw that there would be a restart so I rejoined the game.
Unfortunately I was involved in the starting issue between Geoffers and Goldtop so I was
already back about 20 or 30 seconds after the first lap. I continued because riding the Stang
is real fun. After about 15 laps or so Tony lapped me and I lost control when leaving the "good line"
and crashed in a barrier destroying my left suspension but was able to go on with lower pace.
Intended to see the finish line but made another fault and burned the car right in the pits  ;D

Was suprised about the speed of Tony and Bill in the 02 during practice - well done!
I think I need to have a more intense look into the "76" cars.

See you on Thursday over at P&G  :)

:( What do they say "When it rains it pours". Sorry about the set up problem guys. I had some close racing with Hristo in this event but new I had no real hope of beating him. The Beamer handles really nice so nice that you can over drive it and have such great fun but ultimately lose time. I eventually lost it into P1 mid race trying to close on Hristow I think we were about a second apart at the time. Then at the end of the race he says he was saving his tyres so my efforts were all in folly so very happy with P3 and not looking forward to driving the Porsche in later events.  ::)

I said I was saving them, but not too much. When you were out in front or were close to attack, it was impossible to keep you behind because you could brake so late with your BMW compared to my Porsche, so if you hadn't made a mistake I think it would've been a fight until the finish. I had a nice battle with BR in the final couple of laps and was lucky to recover from 2 offs that dropped me to 2nd, but I suppose BR had his tires in much worse condition by then after having to come back through the field due to his spin on the start.
