Title: UKGTL Season 12 Real GTL - Oulton Park (Fosters) - Mar 12
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on November 20, 2011, 04:40:51 PM +0000
All members welcome.

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (32 laps)

Track: Oulton Park v1.0 Fosters Download this (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3358.msg128898#post_oultonpark)

Cars allowed: Any car, once only, from here The real mod 1.0:
http://downloads.gamers-crib.com/Sim%20Racing/GTL/Mods/RealMod/RealMod10.exe or here http://www.gamefront.com/files/21168781/RealMod10_exe

and last update (to ver 1.3):
http://downloads.gamers-crib.com/Sim%20Racing/GTL/Mods/RealMod/RealMod13update.exe or here http://www.gamefront.com/files/21168219/RealMod13update_exe

It's best if you create a standalone GTL install (copy your GTL to a temp folder, rename it e.g. REAL GTL, then copy back to your usual directory. Path the install to the new REAL GTL you have just created).  Install ver 1.0 first then update with the ver 1.3 install. Run the sim and purchase the cars.
We will not be able to use any skin packs with this mod.

Drivers are reminded that the maximum number of drives in any car is One. Check your status here (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuS59xI7-YTLdHhadk9PaFhDTHpUVjBDY2tXeTFnYUE)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk RGTL
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=334;theme=5)

Special Notes: None.

The 1960's version only contains one layout. We used it as the last race in last season's 1964 BTCC. You need the other one which contains three layouts one of which is Fosters. You should already have it as we have used it many times in the past. However I see that the filefront link has expired so I'll provide a new one asap.

Thanks Tony.  We've not used this track since I moved all my GTL onto Windows 7 - it wasn't in my "Track Arcive", I always try and down load from link as sometimes it can be an upgrade from existing track.  When I'm asked to overwrite I cancel and use that track.

Also Real GTL is a new installation and I only install tracks I'll need not the nausea of doing 101 installation with majority of tracks we'll never use in Real GTL.  I'm an idle bug***.

Completely with you on that Bill.
I've asked Dave to provide a working download link. I'll confirm once that's been attended to. If you need the track urgently I'm sure I can find it on Nogrip etc for you. Just say OK?

Probably many of you already know it, but have you ever tried to do only one installation for any, using a very simple and smart program called Jone Soft Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME)?

I strongly suggest it for the people tired to do every time a new installation for every new mod and track...
I never experienced any issues of any kind using it for GTR2/P&G2/GTL, so if you want to solve your troubles, it worth a try ;)

Here is the download link page: http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products-jsgme.html (http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products-jsgme.html)

That's the User guide, with all the steps to install it correctly, and the instructions to enable/disable every mod correctly: http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/documentation/JSGMEUG.pdf (http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/documentation/JSGMEUG.pdf)

If you think that it's too difficult to use it... than just ignore my post, but I'm not an expert of pc, and reading the guide, is all explained very easily, so once you're familiar with it, it's a very simple program to use.

If you think that it could be useful, I can open a topic, in which I can answer to some installiation or enabling/disabling mod issues.
You decide ;)

P.S. The only issue in the case you would like to install it, it's that you have to start by a "clean" installation without mods... but it would be the last time you should do it ;)

The Humyo link is good and downloaded track from there.  Don't remember driving "Fosters" before. Bye the way all my normal GTL setups still work with Real GTL including both Mini versions.

At 2030, half way through the scheduled "qualifying time" and me the only person logged in "live",  ??? gave up for something more productive and interesting.  >:(

Remembered that I left the track last year in the same corner and could not rejoin - and that's exactly what happened  ???
BTW - could by far not match my laptimes from quali  maybe the wrong car choice for this one.

CU next time

That's happened to me before Bill. Only person actually there. You should have jumped out of Multiplayer and rejoined.

First off thanks to Manteos for all that good info. I for one was not aware of the program and that looks like it will be a big time saver for all future installs ;) Cheers

I'd have to say Oulton Park is on my top ten list so this was another treat of a race. Anyone that wants a great look at some super close racing just ride along with me on a replay because for most of the race I had the best seat in the house watching Ade and Phil go at it!!! Just about epic ;D. I'd like to say I was just hanging on to them while saving my tires as they wore each other out but that was not the case. As it was I could barely hang on to their fight. Ade is so good in the Mini I kind of thought he might have an advantage towards the end of the race. Ade did eventually get bye just as I got back into the fight with Phil. We ran some very close laps and had some good side by side racing as well. I had one rather clumsy out braking maneuver at Fosters when I was more just trying to hang on to it as I got a little sideways under trail braking. Phil got back by I believe at the start finish line and I was back on the chase. Then we were slow again exiting Fosters and were side by side entering Knickerbrook. I think we might of touched just a bit and Phil did go off track for a moment so I figured fair play would have him get the position back ;) The hit was so light some might even call it just close racing but I couldn't in good conscious let that stick. I tried my best to get past again to no avail :P but was another fun fun race :D. Congrats to Ade and Phil for there great performances and to everyone that showed up ;D And as always thank Tony for all your work 8). Hope you had a nice little vacation by the seaside ;)

You are right Navin excellent 3 way battle. I will have to get Ade to give me that Mini set up his car handled great as far as I could see no under steer at all....I want one.  ;D
