Unfortunately I will not be around for this one because I will be sitting in the dark without electricity staring at a candle.

Fortunately there will be someone around to start the server and drive my car...........oops got carried away there but at least the server business will be taken care of so enjoy.

NOT HAPPY.

Was super careful into the hairpin and then got totalled by a car that had spun. Wasn't expecting to win or anything like it. Perfectly happy to roll around in the 2:13's and see if I could get some points.

Always next time.

Please don't move if you have spun though... wait until the field has passed please.

poor show from me , arrived home late after a bad day which got worse  :-[

loaded up the wrong car , no set up at all so juggled me way through practise to get something I could drive , took a dive on about lap 3 and found I had a sick engine from then on , decided to carry on at reduced pace to at least 1/2 distance hoping to get a finish and my name up in lights at last , however events turned out a bit different to what I planned in fine style by vertue of becoming the mobile chicane of rouen which caused a bit of a traffic jam and ruined a couple of others races , sorry guys  :-[ :-[ :-[

Well, yeah... Luckuly I had pribluda off, so i couldnt see who exacly were all these brainless morons on the track...

Lap one: a ferari tried to overtake me over the grass at noveau monde hairpin... And crashed in the car infront of me. Miracously I avoided collision, but I think a nice traffic jam formed behind me...

Lap two: some car parked at noveau monde again... I had enough space to pass from inside...Or I would have... But the other driver obviously needed the whole hairpin for his parking practice, involving complex three-fold turns... I am eventually allowed to continue, 4 places down.

Lap four: Three drivers seem to have fun battle way ahead of me... unfortunately one of them, with green car, is warping badly. At the end of the long straight, there is a huge crash... The warping driver seems to be unharmed, and gives me quite a scare when rejoining the track...

Lap six: Someone with green car (the same warping driver I suspect) is wery eager to overtake me...definetly not a laper, i dont see blue flags...Gets dangeriously close at some braking zones... Rearends me at noveau monde... no harm done, I go on... then he gets the inside at turn 6... I leave him enough space... he is not exacly where i think he is tho, or where he thinks he is, or where the server thinks he is... the straight was better place for overtaking, but oh well... 3 places down...

Lap 11: Im getting close to three drivers, running in dangerious proximity... at noveau monde, there are already 4 drivers 15 meters infront, I dont dare get any closer...  at turn 6 everyone is spining... at turn 7 i have only 3 wheels... guess 15 meters was way too close.

Oh well, another awful race. Awful is not the word I have in mind actually...

It was indeed the road to ruin tonight, for those who wrecked at the hairpin.

My secret weapon was a setup, which allowed me negotiate that hairpin faster than usual.  My less secret weapon was my car.  Everyone from 10th back was made aware of this, when I tried to pass the mobile roadblock there, on lap 1.  After somehow surviving, a lap later, I noticed some bad warping in my mirrors, and so as not to add insult to injury, I parked my battered machine.

A big apology to those affected.  I'll let another reserve take to the 66 grid, until this driver and connection are better behaved. :(

My little journey/story on Rouen-les-Essarts ,

Qualified 6 place , in front of me where at 5 place Dave Rainier and at 4 place Fulvio Policardi , third second and first place was at that moment not important for me because there was a start to do and yes ..... of we where , a little bit afraid i took the start relative slow in that way that Ivan Djjodjjo66 could pas me .
After three laps i passed Ivan Djjodjjo and was back in 6 position chasing Dave Rainier , two or three laps further in the race he did a mistake in the turn " sanson " he ended in the straw bales i passed him and took the fifth place .
At that moment King Hiro  and Fulvio Policardi where battling for fourth and third place , Fulvio Policardi did a mistake in turn " with no name " :P  and king Hiro took the third place and me fourth from that moment i wanted to try to get closer to King but we stayed for many laps 3/4 seconds away from each other until i came at lap 22 and saw that i had almost no full anymore :o to end the race so i had to slow down and Fulvio Policardi was coming closer at me lap by lap .
Those last three laps i want easily forget thinking ..... will i make it or not ?
Lap 25 was there and i  said oooo man oooo man please lets me end this race , at last i saw the white line and i could smile with 0.1 gallon over phoewieieieie that was close :scared:
End of the race with a fourth place , never thought i would make it through this track .
Congrats for the winner Al Heller in second place for evilclive and third place for King Hiro bravo .
Big thanks for the server and race guy's see you all on Halle-Salle-Schleife with the 3liters .
greets svenvangent

This was a disaster of higher order. Had about 15 offs in the race, don't think i was warping but it's possible that i clobbered someone somewhere. Apologies if i did.

In qualy everything clicked, got targeted 2.04 early, even up to P5 on lap 1. But very soon i began to have small offs and it possibly damaged the car, as i couldn't string a normal lap together any more. Or maybe i just lost the plot plain and simple. So that pileup with Bernie didn't change things very much. Finally finished a lap down on people i was racing with in the first laps.

Just lately I seem to be having races that are either a lonely run, or some epic battles. Last nights 66 race was definitely one of the latter!!

Al and Tom were setting some cracking times in qually and I needed  a good tow in my baby Brab/BRM if I hoped to get pole. Sadly no-one was kind enough to give me a lump of slipstream and I struggled to get within a second of my PB. In fact my best time was with race fuel on board!!!
So, 2nd spot on the grid and a clear run to T1 and ( hopefully down to Nouveau Monde). Rouen is one of those tracks where survival on the 1st lap, is very much influenced by where you have qualified. As some of the other drivers discovered, one persons mistake at Nouveau Monde inevitably becomes a problem to share. Off the line I tucked as close as I dared to Al's gearbox in the hope that we would get a small safety gap on the run down the hill.
Fortunately I braked about 75mtrs earlier than I normally would at Nouveau Monde, otherwise Al and I might have been sharing our misfortune with everyone else!! ::), because Al was playing VERY safe on cold tyres  :o.

It soon became apparent that Al's BRM had a definite top speed advantage over my little Brabham up the long back straight, but there were places where I could gain time through bends and under braking. So began a game of Cat and Mouse that was to last the whole race. I made a pass in the early laps and tried to break away, but Al was having none of it and was easily able to reel in any advantage up the straight in my slipstream no matter how much I gained through the twisty sections.
After about 7 or 8 laps I did my customary check on fuel consumption and was a little perturbed to discover that I did not have enough juice to finish the race!! :o
Although I was still leading, AL was close behind and threatening a pass at the end of the straight on each lap. But more worrying was the occasional flash of red in my mirrors as Fulvio's Ferrari was catching both of us!!! Unfortunately Fulvio went wide, and up the bank, at T1 a lap or so later and that left Al and myself well clear of the field. I was relieved when Al passed me later on the same lap and I was able to tuck into his slipstream and short shift whilst we edged away from the chasing pack.  Thanks to Al's tow truck I was able to save enough fuel over the following laps to get myself to the end of the race. I thought to myself that I would wait another 5 laps in his slipstream, just to make sure I had enough "go-juice"  and to allow our pace to pull us away.

I think that thought must have un-nerved psychic Al, because he lost it at Scierie and I had to perform a sudden mid corner correction to dodge his tail pipes!! Well. with about 12 laps left I suddenly had an unexpected lead over Al so I pushed as hard as I could to try and keep him out of my slipstream.
The next few laps were unfortunate for both of us as that was when we started to lap the backmarkers. I got caught behind one car through Sansom and Beauval that lost me almost half my lead ( no-one to blame, just bad luck ) and then I made a small mistake out of Scierie with a stupid tank slapper which allowed Al to close right up...........5 laps to go and the race was well and truly ON.
Al blasted past up the straight and I tucked into his slipstream again. starting the last lap Al was a bit wobbly out of Paradis and I stuck my car alongside across the line. It was plain that any attempt to take him through T1 would probably finish both our races, so I backed off but was still in Al's blind spot. He held a very wide line and was slow down to Six Freres where I had always been quicker. I could not make my advantage into a pass and was stuck on Al's gearbox out of Nouveau Monde and up through Sansom and Beauval.
maybe I could outbrake him into Scierie with some slipstream...not quite.
It was all on Paradis and the run to the line, but Al's BRM just had too much top end and he took a deserved win after a race long battle.

Grats to all finishers and especially to Al who drove a great race.

My name has been mentioned by an agrieved party in an incedent report ,  Unfortunately It does not state the time of said incedent .
In order to protect my good name and reputation I am unable to reply without knowing which incedent he/she is refering to .

Reading the above reports and others it seems this series is turning into a bit of a fiasco , driving manners seem to have become  secondary to "press on regardless" tactics,  more appropriate to "formula hooligan" than Historic GP cars  ::) ::)  ::)

Don't know about the She, but I was referring to the pileup around half race on the uphill section. There were 3 of us racing for position closely. My view was obscured by cars ahead, and when they moved around a car they lapped i had nowhere to go. I hit almost stationary car which was waiting for us to get past on the outside and i happened to be boxed in on the inside. Call it racing accident, bad luck or whatever. But such scenarios are sometimes impossible to predict and avoid, no complaints from me.

I'm really chuffed to score my first 66 victory & finally break my 2nd place hoodoo :) but wow Clive made sure it was bought & paid for - that was one hell of a battle! League wins are rare occurrences for me at the best of times & as for hat-tricks... well expect to see Halley's comet rather more regularly, so adding pole & fastest lap really felt special. I must congratulate Clive for his great driving - we raced close (sometimes VERY close) on the limit for 25 laps & swapped the lead 5 times without incident which takes some doing in GPL as you do have to leave room when necessary :thumbup1:

I hoped I might show reasonable pace in qualifying but I was struggling to find a clear lap & got caught out a few times when people left the pits just as I was going full pelt into T1 which is always an occupational hazard at Rouen. Saw my teammate Tom was P1 so pushed extra hard to try & join him on the front row as I really wanted a friendly face alongside for the oft-fraught first lap run down to the hairpin. This fiendish plan was looking good until Clive gatecrashed our party at the last moment to snatch P2 from Tom.

From the moment the flag dropped Clive was snapping at my heels - fortunately he made allowances for my earlier braking (everyone brakes earlier than you Clive :D) & we got through the first laps cleanly, though it was clear from the outset that this was going to be a real dogfight. After several laps of relentless pressure, I was kind of relieved to see Clive pass me & hoped to take a breather in his tow for a few laps... but Fulvio was on a charge behind & seeing his red Ferrari growing ever-larger in my mirrors provided an urgent hurry-up call. Thanks to the slipstream I was able to repass Clive down the straight & with Fulvio sidelined soon after at T1, it remained a 2-way battle for the lead. Any speed advantage I had down the straight was negated by Clive's huge speed through sector 1 so we stayed locked together lap after lap until I finally pushed the limit too far & had a half-spin at Scierie.

After that I spent several laps struggling to get back on Clive's tail & seemed to lose even more time once we started lapping people. Luckily for me Clive had his tank-slapper moment & that allowed me right back into contention & finally I retook the lead with a couple of laps to go. Naturally that wasn't the end of it & Clive snatched back the lead at T1 as we began the last lap but I was able to use his slipstream to repass again down the straight & just about managed to avoid overcooking it again at Scierie before powering over the line with a whopping 0.3 seconds to spare :sweatdrop: Congrats to Clive & Tom & also Sven for making it home with 0.1 of fuel.

The view from the back wasn't too bad this time round! I, as always, had totally failed to make time for pre-event practising and so turned up without a setup and only a vague recollection of where the track actually goes... 30 minutes of fiddling around to make the car work left me somewhere near the back of the grid.. Not a problem in my mind though - there will always be plenty of retirements in a pro level race, especially at a track like Rouen! In fact as the flag dropped and I cautiously crawled off the line ( a move echoed by like-minded Badblood) I quite fancied my chances of my 3rd 1966 top-10 finish in a row, and certainly passing the easily-predicted-but-harder-avoided wreckage at the hairpin I was feeling good about my chances...but then on to lap two and then the spins started.... every couple of laps or so my concentration would wander and the car would be pointing the wrong way again! Luckily I didn't hit anything solid so all I lost was time.
Fortunately for me, other drivers were having their own problems and by the end of the race I was in a solid 11th place, not quite the top 10 I was hoping for but near enough! As a bonus , I had found 3 seconds per lap in extra speed over the event too!
Apologies to the leaders for not being more co-operative at being lapped but there really is only one line through most of those awkward mid-lap corners and an off-the-racing-line Blito would have resulted in an upside-down-in-a-ditch-on-fire Blito.......

A pretty good race for me.  I qualified near the back and lost a place off the line (I think) but at least that kept me out of the danger zone in Nouveau Monde.  I was incredibly lucky to pick my way through the carnage unscathed.  There was another similar incident a couple of laps later and again I was lucky to pick my way through.  By simply keeping out of trouble I managed to finish in a decent position.  I didn't get lapped (I think I was lapped in every historic race last season) and although my performance was not as good as the last round my season has still got off to a great start.

Grats to Al and Clive on some spectacular times.  Sorry Sky, Bernie and BadBlood were unlucky but Fabio, Jason, Johnny and Nigel gave me a run for my money.  When guys like these have a good race it always makes my race more enjoyable.  We are usually on a similar pace and with the (rather generous) slip stream effect in the 66s a race long duel is always likely.  Repair your motors and get them tuned up for the next round  ;)

... and Martin, hope you get a finish next time.  You have got the pace, you just need the consistency.  Antipasti needs your points!
