Oef this is a long track. Don't know if I can get the time to put down laps in all the cars again. Will cost about 3 mins per lap, which is alot.
I'm gonna go in the Mustang because that's the only decent car I haven't driven yet.

Oi Ruskus - so it will be flattops and Supertankers again?
I will go with what you will take - got to beat you once  :-*

Yup, and that leaves one more race with another car :-\, but no way I'm gonna pick the Abarth or MKII. Not because they are slow, but I can't drive them and they are boring. They are excellent stuff for cup-races.

I presumed GP tracks + mini would challenge my will to live but this might prove interesting. Does offer a good chance of getting a good GTL ranking I bet  ;)

This ones a bit of fps killer, along main straight, for me.

Ah, was thinking this was the cut down version rather than the full thing ... dunno what I'll take yet, might wait to see what everyone else has taken.  Had the Lotus (well it sound a bit more exotic than taking the Cortina!!!) last night, but the Alfa is by far my favorite, might go for the Mini.

See y'all later.

Not going to be able to make the next two races and if the next 2 weeks may be out as well, (shiftwork) boo hiss. may be able to join early in praccy next week but will leave early for someone to race (if that is a no go then tell me!).

Have a good one people

No time to do all the cars, only the Mustang (my car tonight). And I did it in 2:28.885. I have a feeling there is much more to win in this for-an-Alfa-made track.

Well had a little practice today in the cortina, 2:33 seems about average for me, well off the pace again no doubt  :)

I'll be giving the Alfa a go tonight. I'll be interested to see as a part alien / part human from GTR how close I can get to Ruskus, super GTL alien, in his Mustang, although I wont have any practice as usual (yes making excuses already :P :P). I can't work out whether this is a good track for the yank tanks or not as there are quite a few decent stretches where it's big engine can make haste, but also some twisty sections.

Personally I really like this track as it has a lot of variation and the field should be a bit more spread than the hectic Magny-Cours.

I'll try a mustang tonight, wasn't much fun in the arbarth last night.  Spent more time looking in the mirror/behind view (difficult to see cars at night in the mirror) and trying to get out of the way, than concentrating on my race.
Better get some practice in.

Going to set up a practice session on-line now, look in the lobby SimRacing Practice - no password

What a great track! I hadn't driven the full GP before.

Managed a 2:30.5 in the Mini which I'm pretty pleased with, it is outclassed on the straights but not as badly as I expected.

Have to say I had a terrible frame rate\stutter tonight anyway, never get these probs normally but my system hates that track. Maybe not a coincidence I get a CTD just as I cross the start line where it's worst.

Well... 15 fps at start which caused a bit of delay in my counting. When everybody started my count still didn't reach zero.  ;D

Then I was swept by the pack and finally spun in traffic. Got catapulted back to the track and hit by a couple of cars... pressed ESC as fast as I could not to cause a massive accident.

Still... what a nice track to drive.

I gave you a little nudge there Matjaz but you were warping like crazy, one minute I was safely inside you and the next I was giving you a little tap round the bend. Sorry :(

Just noticed I was fractions off the world-record Mini time at the GP track with my qualifying time of 2:29.5xx which was excellent. Still only good enough for 8th though!

Lost my usual 4-5 places at the start, I'm still not sure if it's me or just the Mini hasn't got the grunt :-\

Still, managed to pick up those placed trying to chase down MichaelB when we eventually caught Greg and had  three-way tussle for quite a few laps which was excellent, spent too much time on one lap scrapping with Greg so that we lost sight of MichaelB :D I'm not too sure how clean my last pass of Greg was, apologies if it wasn't too good Greg  :-\

7th in the end - best race so far I think!

My age just doubled after this lap. I'm gonna send the hospital bill to Minton for giving me a heartattack.
I took pole in my fastest time with the Mustang there with Dan next to me. After lap 1 I had a 3,6s lead on Dan so I though I can spare the tires now and finish.
For 2 laps long he won only 1/10 of a second per lap, so no worries. Until he really put his foor down :D.
He came closer and closer and closer. And my tires were getting worst by the minute and in lap 10 they were all gone.
Just a few laps before the end he overtook me and I though it was over because he was faster. But for some reason I could outbrake him in T1 in the last lap.
Using the big ass of the Pony I could just keep the door shut and win by one 3/10 of a second.
Gotta go now, the beautiful nurese is entering the room and she is gonna give me a bath :P.
If I recover in time I might see you next race.

I had a great race with JonM for 30 mins. We were together the whole race with me 97% of the time ahead and Jon in close attendance. Best GTL race to date, very nice driving on a real circuit instead of a mickey mouse one.

Cheers Jon and well done Ruskus AGAIN!  :)

I didn't have any dissapearing cars this time, but Pero Grozni's car ahead was wobbling all over the place, half looked like the way it was being driven (being chucked all over the place - nice one :o   ;D) but half jittering round the track in a dodgy netcode sort of way, I was glad he was just quicker as I didn't want to go near the car for being warped into.

Lap1 was hectic, and i did see truetom frozen mid track but avoided.

Will have to get the replay as i think i caused an accident on my second lap, i tapped Mccartney under braking which i think pushed him into greenwood? and spun gw on the apex, and i hit gw as i followed, i flashed my lights in apology..sorry i will report myself.

After that was ok, although i couldn't catch up again an was left lapping on my own, my payback i guess.

Oh, and for the first time i actually finished the same number of laps as everyone else ;D

See you tommorow? (7 space practice will be up before hand, around 5:30pm hopefully)

Cheers
Phil.

A really fun race and its a great track to drive, even in the mini.
Congrats to Ruskus and also to Pops on a blistering performance in the mini woohoo!

Flipped the mini at the chicane which lost me some time but finished 9th I think in the end.
I think I turned in on a Mustang at turn 3 lap1 or 2 - apologies (Fozz I think)

Great race thanks all.

Well that was crap for me: Got some kind of 10fps bug during qualifying ( I had set myself a new PB btw) quit out, got back in with enough time to do 2 more laps. Started near the back (no prob there used to that) Got a stop go, pitted in, then next lap got DQ for not stopping ???
Very strange?

Thats about the 3rd time I've had that 10fps, nothing you can do butquit out and try to rejoin. I used to get the 1fps in GTR from time to time also :-\

Superb race tonight, had a good tussle with PG for the first 3 laps with at least 5 overtaking moves but it looked a bit of a handfull for PG and i gradually got away. Started to hunt down Ruskus and managed to catch him .   I was i bit quicker than him through the first quarter of the track but he was caining me on the long straights. I Put a couple of good moves on him but think i showed my hand too early as he blocked me the next lap , in he was just too good AGAIN!!!! ::) Well done mate.
By the sounds of things looks like there was good battles all through the field,  Think it comes down to the track as apart from the first few corners its awesome!

Man that was a frought couple of laps at the beginning. I think I hit just about every car that spun, so sorry to whoever you were! Unfortunately my replay didn't catch the first part of the race.

There was one moment where a Cortina had spun, and I went to the left of it, only for it to have a warp and appear right in front of me. Such is life.

Still, finally settled into it and had a great battle with Dave Gymer - then some inconsiderate person knocked down the polystyrene yard markers for the last chicane, making me miss my braking point :) As I slid wide and Dave went past, I shook my virtual fist at him :)

Excellent race. Thought the track was a good one for the TC-65 cars, and I saw far less warp and stutter problems tonight. Had a great 3-way scrap with Greg & Popa over severals laps. We swapped positions a few times, but I managed to get clear in the end. Looking in my wing mirror they seemed to be side by side at every corner, giving me a chance to pull away. 6th place in the end, very pleased.

Got a disco, tried to rejoin but said game was full although it was showing 23/24 >:(

Damn unlucky penguins  :( Hope it doesn't happen again. Only prob I had was coming out of last corner on last lap fps dropped to 15  :o Was just grateful it didn't happen earlier  ;)

Well what can I say about the race. Quality stuff racing with Shark in his lotus and me in the Alfa. The whole race was just one big battle between us, never could get properly ahead, and Shark never failed to spot an opportunity to breeze straight past when I did. Tried my best to pressure him but everytime I asked a question of him he answered. There was some great close racing going on but I never felt that there was going to be any contact. It was so easy to get really close under braking, would never dare do that in GTR. If the races are half as good as that in season 1 I'll be a happy bunny  ;D
Grats Ruskus on pole and Victory :) 5 in row  8) 8) 8)

Not really happy about this race myself - had fastest lap in the race, but couldnt close the gap enought to threthen for the lead.
I tried overtaking Dan a couple of times into turn one, but coudlnt make it stick. No idea if we touched some times or not - Sorry for any touches that I coused - they surely werent intentional. You had brilliant traction through the second corner - I couldnt follow that in the Supertanker.
About my wobbling ingame - I had terrible framerates of around 15~20 and also quite high ping. Not really great this evening, but I blame that on the friday net traffic.
And half of the wobbling most certanly had to be my driving - I was more or less all over the place.
Also had a comingtogether with a falcon near the end of the race. The falcon was stationary in T1 on the alternative line through that corner and I just couldnt do anything so we touched - really sorry about that.
And sorry for starting chatting too soon - completly forgot about that after the race ::)

Anyway the race was superb. I started by knocking Dave Gymer off the track... Soz dude.

After that I was fighting with Sponsored for an age, which became a three car tussle. I made a mistake went to be back of the three, then overtook them both from mid way around the track, fantastic.

Eventually my stupid brake balance killed me, and sent me off (again, I'd had lots of sideways into corner moments) but way off the track. Got back with Lightnin! Who I thought would be easy meat, but he raced very well Eventually there was an upside down car at the last chicane, looked like a ghost car, Lightnin! slowed down, I didn't :-) After that, got done by my brakes again, and slid into the first hairpin, when and Lightnin! hit me back around the correct way, nice one, away we go again.

Cut the last chicane on the last lap to take the glory from Lightnin! but not the place as that gave me a stop and go... I knew it would.

10 fps in qual.
Bit of lag at the start.
Settled down ok.
Major fps drop for the last lap.

On to the race :
Fantastic stuff with Aagramn and Pops, best racing in a long time, thanks guys. I decided to air on the side of caution in the end as the cortina was horrid under breaking for the last 4 laps, had I pusehed it anymore I would have taken us all off.
Overall great stuff and my first ever points finish in gtl ;D
What a nice difference it is to have a decent gp track to race on.

That track seems a great leveller. Shame I had fps issues at start as well.

Truly great fun battling Tom in a cortina, Fozz in the Alfa and Mo Turtle  ;D. That was after I got swamped on grid as well, it could be a mini thing ;). Hard enough battling Fozz normally but the Alfa gave him that little extra grunt and without a kamikaze move there was nothing, I think I tried everyting, I could do until he slipped up. Tom was a different matter, had the edge on him through chicane but he was faster elsewhere which led to some 5/6 passes, great stuff. After getting a warning avoiding a breakdancing Mo, I finally cut the chicane too much and got a stupid stop/go. Didn't want to leave the fray so carried on and got d.q instead.

Only disappointing thing was losing to Pop's mini. I can see its going to get personal  ;).

I hope I didn't block you too much. I was really fighting in the end and almost lost in a few corners before the finish. Luckily you hit my rear instead of flying past me or else this would have been your win :D.
Of all the cars I've driven, the Mustang is my least favourite.
But as you can see, there is no "best" car, only the most suitable car for you.

I've altered some settings on the server to see if we can get rid of some of these net glitches for the next race.

They may make no difference what-so-ever, but can't harm anything.

My practice consisted of exactly 3 laps in the Mustank. Didn't like it very much so I decided to give the Alfa a second chance. Horrible snap oversteer under braking but a very small brake balance tweak cured that; lovely smooth engine even if you do have to rev the nuts off it!

Was comprehensively outquallified by... well, pretty much everyone. Never mind, qually was never my strong point. Got a stonking start (whoever was in front was stopped dead - was that Matjaz?), dunno what position I was in by T1 but I swept past quite a few on my way there. I guess the Minis struggle to get off the line, being wrong wheel drive?

Things went horribly wrong early on - in all the excitement I completely missed the braking for Valvoline on lap 1 and slid off, no harm done but loads of places lost. Worse was to come though as a Mini came barrelling down the hill into into Dunlop; I chose to run wide instead of turn in on him, next thing I know somebody (Fozz I think based on his apology after the race :D ) must've either missed his braking point or lost control and sideswiped me off into the kitty litter. Oops. ::) :D

First laps in GTL S0 are still way too frenzied - we all need to calm down a bit I think. :-\

The good news is that those early offs set me up for...

Still, finally settled into it and had a great battle with Dave Gymer - then some inconsiderate person knocked down the polystyrene yard markers for the last chicane, making me miss my braking point :) As I slid wide and Dave went past, I shook my virtual fist at him :)

... an awesome tussle with EdamSpeed. I kept him behind for a good few laps before finally running wide coming out of the arena area and allowing him past. Then he got caught up behind a backmarker at the end of a lap and I slipped back past, only to be taken again after another mistake from me. He had a lead of a second or so and I just couldn't make any impression on it until the very last lap - I thought you let me past deliberately on the last lap after wibbling up the NGK chicane, now I know it wasn't intentional I feel better about finishing ahead of you. ;D

Best race I've had for quite a while. Wasn't sure my connection would hold up - was getting some lag at the end of qually while I watched other people's lines, then it dropped sync once before coming back. The race was fine, although it was a bit stuttery at the start with relatively poor framerate.

Tyres were just starting to show signs of overheating on the last few laps - don't think I'd want to do any more than 30 minutes.

One thing that is coming over very clearly is that if we do race all 6 cars in TC-65, the groups of similarly matched cars (Yank Tanks, Super Saloons, Little 'Uns) need to run in their own championships, and when cars in different championships meet, they generally need to cooperate rather than try to race each other, otherwise the bigger one will simply shove the smaller one off the track, usually unintentionally. :o

Not sure i agree with that. Tonight there were the 5 of us up front within 4 seconds at the end of 30 mins. 2 tanks and 3 super saloons. Different circuits suit different cars, but not sure they should be in different classes and we were not too unevenly matched especially on the proper circuits rather than the stupid Club circuits. I think the Abarth and Jag are in a class of their own but i dont suppose anyone will take them as they are utter shite.

Agree with that.  ;D ;D ;D

Just finished watching the replay , must apolagise for cliipping you coming out of the chicane PG . I think you lost it going into the chicane and i kept the power on to go through and clipped you as you corrected the slide.  :)

No problem with that - I lost too much speed so that it was a normal race incident; nothing you could do once you turned into the chicane. I just checked the replay and I had the impression you acctually tagged me from the right while racing and was quite suprised to see that you tagged me into the left rear acctually.
I didnt exactly loose it into the chicane - I just cut a bit on the strong side and went onto two wheels - something that I have been constantly doing in the practise and quali.  ;D

Well I was in an Alfa, mixing it up with a Mini, I'd rather see you forced into the same car every race, so you loose ground on some, make it up on others.

BF=Flybri  ;D

BF was the name i used for single player, will change next time i load disk.

Had a nightmare after Qually, meant to click the 'spanner' icon in garage to change fuel load, but clicked on 'online files' icon which took an age to load up, must have been a good minute or two, tried joining race anyway, which unlike GTR(if u miss the timer to get to grid) it let me join race only everyone else was half way through their first or second lap, i carried on anyway but my laps and times were not being registered. Hope i didnt get in anyones way.

@Flybri
I saw you in pits with a ping op 25000 :o, so I didn't know what was going on there.
But after you got out you soon came infront of me and you were very fair. SO absolutely no complaints from my side.
That's the best about sucj a long track, you hardly have to lap people, making it a much safer race.

I thought you let me past deliberately on the last lap after wibbling up the NGK chicane, now I know it wasn't intentional I feel better about finishing ahead of you. ;D

Having watched the replay, I'm quite glad you finished ahead of me too, as I gave you a bit of an unintentional biff on the first corner (mitigated slightly by a Mustank giving me a shove from the inside), and then when you spun, 'twas me who hit you :( I was already offline for that corner, and just couldn't make the turn when I realised you were broadside.

The other person I hit on the first lap was Matjaz - sorry mate, you were already spinning off, and I didn't turn the wheel hard enough, so I took a trip to the armco as well :(

Also, I had the same lag as a couple of others on the last lap - was very wierd and disorienting, driving around with 13fps showing in the top-right!
