Well i'm be more looking forward to the week before ;)

Think i'll try out the Lola this time with all the talk last time about how tricky it is!

Err not really the time or place but do we have to go with a 2pm virtual start? how about a 10am or 5pm time? would be nice to have more atmospheric times and hopefully be a bit darker, sun rise , sun set,  nice looking skies etc

Agreed. I will do a few off line sessions to see what would be a good alternate start time.

I thought these were going to be 80min races? If so could we please reduce the practise or qually time to ensure a standard finishing time?

70 min races.

1st post updated.

We did not alter the practice or qualy session lengths in the past, just ended the race later. We could start everything 10 mins earlier if everyone is happy with that.

Not sure yet if i will contest the LMP2 series, i really havent run any laps in them to tell if i can cope with the frantic pace and prefer being a GT pilot, though spa certainly would have gave me the inspiration to try. Alas i am away on hols for this round so will miss it anyway  :'(

Have a good 'un amigos. Im off to annoy the italians...again :)

Well, for me LMP2s here(!) are easier than GT classes. :-\ GTweb mod was something completely different. ::)

Normally why i'm still struggling and getting frustrated as i'm way off pace till about a week before the race starts as it finally starts working!

LMP's require alot more concentration for me as everything is happening quicker!

Well, for me LMP2s here(!) are easier than GT classes. :-\ GTweb mod was something completely different. ::)

I was just looking at all the files for UKGTR LMP2 Porsche Spyder and the GTWeb Porsche Spyder from those 2 races we just did (GT Web mod V2). They are pretty much the same. The only difference is the fuel and pitstop settings and BodyDragBase=(0.23) in GTWeb V2 instead of (0.21) in UKGTR version in the .hdc file. You should hardly be able to notice that at all. The cars are essentially the same. Driving the UKGTR version will be the same as driving the GT Web version.

The UKGTR LMP2 car files are taken straight from the GT Web Sakhir 24Hr race mod, with permission of course. Thanks GT Web. :)

I thinks im gonna use the Lola this time. The Porsche didnt work out too well last season for me and in a fun race we had i took the lola and it was much easier to drive.

Then it must be the car. Porsche felt totaly unstable for me in GTWeb race and opposite goes for Lola in our Championship. So porker is a no-no for me. :-\

We will be doing a 18:00 Hrs virtual start time.

1st Post updated.

I tried a few different start times and this one seemed the best to me. Lots of atmosphere but, not much loss of visibility. There will be some heavy sun at the end of the main straight, but that should only be for the formation lap. The sun is so low that it goes behind the horizon by lap 2 during practise runs and it should be the same for the race. It will just be starting to get dark by the end of the race but, again, no real loss of visibility. Apexs and brake markers etc are still visible at the same distance that they would be in day time (just about). The use of car lights is still recommended to help drivers see each other on the track.

The server is currently set to have full day time practise with a 5 min race using a virtual start time of 18:00 so you can check out the visibility for yourselves.

Indeed. I also found the Lola far easier to drive than the other 2 cars. I am going to try the Radical this season though.

Some tips for driving the LMP2 cars:
- Very precise and minimal steering input (turn the wheel as little as possible especially at high speed).
- Using paddle shift will help a lot.
- Try all 3 of the cars in case you find one of them suits you more.

I have so far managed a lap time of 2.05 with almost Maximum wing settings. Dont lift when going through Eau Rouge. I think I could go faster by lowering the wing at little and still be full throttle through Eau Rouge.

................... Dont lift when going through Eau Rouge. ............

Crivens!

Progress
OK  Now flat in 5th but wondering where the other 8 seconds are to come from.

Had to stiffen the front ARB to stop it digging in and firing me across Belgium at a jaunty angle.

Think I'm in the Porsche but they all look the same to me.

I should be able to do this race, even if I can't be sure yet. I tried a couple of laps on your server and I think I will go again with the Porsche. My laptimes will be close to the 2.04 in race trim I guess. Hope to see you on Sunday :)

Here is a link to my season 15 Lola setups:
http://www.gamefront.com/files/21525867/LolaLMP2Setups_rar

My Radical setup for tonight's race:
http://www.gamefront.com/files/21526295/H%40L_RadicalLMP2_Spa_R.rar

After a bit of time in the LMP2 cars it seems that I am setting the cars up in a similar way that I would a GT except more wing, stiffer ARB, less power and less coast in the diff.

You need quite a high ride height for Spa as well I would say.

EDIT: Redone rdical setup. :)

It will be my race setup. Avoid the curbs at the eau rouge, and adjust the steer lock and brake bias as you prefer.

Cu later :)

This was going to be disastrous from the get go.

1st racing lap, spun the car was about 4 seconds behind SRW
2nd racing lap, SRW spun so I caught up.
5th racing lap I spun on the first corner and ended hitting the crash barrier at the end of the pit lane at 140ish.

Race over.

See you next week.

I have managed to download the latest track pack but it has availed me nothing.

It still crashes to desktop when I select Spa or Magny-Cours.

I haven't tried any others.

Hi guys :)

It was an interesting race for me. Qualified 2nd behind Gazza I tried to keep his pace, and I was succesful in the first 10 laps or so. Than I did my first mistake, followed by another one, and I've lost 10 seconds circa. After these mistakes I replaced the gap a bit to Gazza, gaining approximately 5 seconds before the lap in which he pitted.

When I pitted, I tried my usual strategy, without changing tyres, and it was a good strategy. I came back with 18 seconds of advantage on Gazza, and I was losing approximately 1.5-2 secs per lap by him with fresh tyres.
Unfortunately a couple of laps later than my pit, my car spun on the curbs of the eau rouge, and I damaged a suspention and the aero of the car that became too unstable to drive. So to avoid another pit, I just tried to go on until the end without repairing it.
Gazza passed me after my mistake, and H@l was gaining too much time per lap, and I knew that he would come back in time for the last lap.
At the last lap, I wasn't able to keep my position, going wide at the exit of Stavelot, and giving to H@l a strongly desired and deserved 2nd position. I paid my mistakes... the next time I should be more careful :-\

Grats to Gazza and H@l for the podium and to all the finishers. Seems that H@l found the right car for him in this season, and I hope in some close racing as this one, especially during the first half. With another good driver as Gazza on the grid, I bet in some very good and close races in the future. Back to visit us more often mate :) I hope that some drivers would like to add to the fun, even to understand better the prototypes for the next GTWEB 24h, in which we will probably be "enemies".  ;D

See you for the next :)

Tried to download it again by myself, and it doesn't say that the zip file is corrupted at least on my pc Clive. Someone experienced the same issue?
Let me know please. In case I will upload my setup again.

However I think that I broke my left big toe yesterday during a football match... so I guess I will jump at least a couple of races. Hope to came back soon. At least is not painful as the fibula... cold comfort I know :(

See you :)
