To celebrate the end of this great Season 22 and to do a first step to F2s for some of you. We will do 6 x 2 fun races with all the new F2 cars. Which is the best F2 car for you? There will be 2 intermediate short races of 25-30 mins on the same track. You have to use a different car in each race - but up to you which one you start with. This will be the schedule:
The third race will be the Cooper vs Lotus 41 at Goodwood 18 Laps
GLA and FUN Who wants a drive should sign up here – everyone is welcome! Title: Re: UKGPL Season 22 F2 Club Challenge - Goodwood - May 22 Post by: EvilClive on May 19, 2012, 02:30:13 PM +0100 This should be a great circuit for F2's.
Unfortunately Goodwood does have a reputation for random discos. Some races run totally without any problems and another race can disco 75% of the field. I hope we get 2 soild races and everyone finishes because this will be a fun track i am sure. Joining the grid in race 2 I had an error message, but by klicking ok, a flickering windows bar remained . So I decided to leave after I was turned around in T2 8) Title: Re: UKGPL Season 22 F2 Club Challenge - Goodwood - May 22 Post by: Phil Thornton on May 22, 2012, 11:11:24 PM +0100 Race 1 - In a comfortable second place with 1.5 laps to go and then screen freeze :'(
Race 2 - Thought I'd picked my way through the carnage at T1 but then got rear ended. Practically last when I got going but had some great battles through the field with Rog, Dave C and Goran. I had turned the graphics down a bit more for the second race (from about 30% to 25%) and hence no screen freeze. Screen freezes do seem to be linked to graphics settings, any more than 25% and screen freezes appear more likely. I noticed in chat that some people were getting screen freezes. On a separate issue I can't get into the UKGPL chatroom in IGOR. I've tried resetting the password but no joy. I can get into the GPL chatroom so it looks like the shadow world bit is working OK. Has anyone else had similar problems? Title: Re: UKGPL Season 22 F2 Club Challenge - Goodwood - May 22 Post by: Billy Nobrakes on May 23, 2012, 12:09:55 AM +0100 Having some wheel problems. Firstly the button I was using to upshift stopped working which severly curtailed practice. I reassigned different buttons & was running a (personally) impressive 4th in Race 1 (largely due to other drivers getting tangled up). Touched wheels with JR about lap 8 then made a series of silly errors. Retired early to throw a Lotus set up together for race 2. About lap 3 the brake pedal snapped - game over.
Moral of the story - the Fearrai Thrustmaster wheel is RUBBISH. Have ordered a new Logitec which I am fully expecting to take 5 secs a lap off my times -you have been warned! Not really had chance to pratice properly for this F2 Mini-series but it is great fun. Aiming to be back for Silverstone if not before. I cannot access any chat rooms via Igor Phil. I lost that ability when Virgin "upgraded" their AV service ::) I think Jason had similar issues with his Virgin connection. Strangely enough though, if I open the old VROC chat it all works, apparently they both use the same chatroom system. It does mean that I have Igor open to monitor the servers etc and Vroc open for chat but at least it works. I cannot explain why VROC chat will work yet Igor won't when they are the same chatroom??!! ??? I assume it must be something within the Virgin AV software that prevents it. Title: Re: UKGPL Season 22 F2 Club Challenge - Goodwood - May 22 Post by: blito on May 23, 2012, 08:52:03 AM +0100 Something like that Clive. I use mIRC as a chat client - it can handle multiple networks as well as multiple channels so in the same window as I use for shadowworld/gpl is also have quakenet/clanbase :)
Sadly I had to miss last nights race - I was at a wine tasting session at the local Majestic warehouse. Got quite tipsy sampling some quite excellent wines. Free cheese and meat thrown in to the bargain too! Interesting to note that not one person present was using the spit bucket or rinsing the pallet with water between wines! We were all just slugging it down :D Title: Re: UKGPL Season 22 F2 Club Challenge - Goodwood - May 22 Post by: BadBlood on May 23, 2012, 10:22:25 AM +0100 Need oodles of practice, I find these babies very skittish under braking - went back today and had a play, best time of 1:21.9 so long way to go. Got the under/oversteer sorted but I can't stop spinning these cars unless I am braking in a straight line. Keep clipping the grass and spinning - hence the woeful qualifying times... I'll have to get Mini to give me some lessons...
Title: Re: UKGPL Season 22 F2 Club Challenge - Goodwood - May 22 Post by: Phil Thornton on May 23, 2012, 09:28:38 PM +0100 Thanks to Clive and Jason for the advice on the chat room issue. I'll use VROC for the chatroom in future.

Title: Re: UKGPL Season 22 F2 Club Challenge - Goodwood - May 22 Post by: EvilClive on May 25, 2012, 03:27:45 PM +0100 It all went t*ts up when I updated the Virgin Anti Virus software.
They changed their provider of the AV stuff after many many people had issues with the old software which would stop working and then not allow a re-install and could not be removed or deleted!! Even a "terminal nuke" program supposedly direct from the AV software company could correct the problem and most people who had the prob were forced to live without AV cover, because although it was not working correctly it would not allow an alternative to load!! Eventually Virgin announce a "premium upgrade" ::) which contained the necessary code to remove the corrupt system and install a whole new AV package which incidentally works fine ( so far). Ever since the new AV activated IGOR chat has been unavailable and I have no idea why!! only that I have tried just about everything but still cannot connect??!! The fact that VROC chat is actually the same chatroom makes it even more incomprehensible ??? :-\ |
