Season 23 – F2 European Tour

This is a new division & the first time that UKGPL has run a series for the recently release 1967 Formula 2 cars.

The races will be run as follows:

Car set: F2 Mod
Date: Every second Friday from 22 June 2012
Time: 9:00pm UK Time (Approx 30 mins practice, race starts at 9:30pm)
Race Length: Long
Damage Model:  Intermediate
Server: UKGPL_T7_2

The provisional calendar may be changed at the discretion of the Divisional Moderator.

Handicapping
Race 1 & 2 is a free choice of car. From Race 3 – the Championship Leader is restricted to the Ferrari or BT14. Second & third placed drivers may use the Ferrari, BT14 or the Cooper. All others have free choice & may keep the same chassis or switch for different races.

If you would like to enter this series please submit an entry in the poll.

***NOTE***
Depending on the number of entries the F2 European Tour might be run as two divisions across two grids.

I would like to give this series a go. Looks like a nice mix of tracks and I'm finding the F2's fun no matter where the venue.
If things change, my wife is part gipsy I think, I'll give a heads-up as to my participation.

Could I ask which cars are denoted as heavy? Is it over 950lb for example..

Spa, Silverstone, Hockenheim; how can one resist?

I suck at pretty much the rest of the tracks on the schedule though, so less than 75% from me.

We will get a large grid, so to be registered you have to vote in the poll at the top!

Sorry Bernie - track choice has been decided. I see that Crystal Palace has been nominated as a possible replacement track in the 65's so you might want to get your vote in.

The good news is we now have 29 sign ups for the F2 series.

This means that we will have to run TWO grids  ;D.

I will publish a suggested split in the next few days. If anyone else thinking ??? about signing up for F2's please click on the Poll - its easier to do the allocation.

Thanks to the excellent response to the new series the F2's will run as two grids. I have provisionally split the entrants into two groups based on ability, experience but also to have an equal spread of Full Time & Reserve drivers in each group. If anyone feels they really are in the wrong place then please post. Wishes will be considered but not necessarily granted.
Both grids will run with the proposed handicap system - but this does not kick in until Race 3 so everyone starts with a free choice of chassis.

Sorry, only just seen this. The Lights/Heavies is just a driver classification - free choice of car in the first three rounds.

Furthermore the Heavys are not intended as any discrimination against fat bast***ds.

Just noticed that I'm listed here as a heavy,  but on the race details for Spa/in my racing profile I seem to be a light.

I'm defo a lightweight!   but presumably I've been put into lights by mistake  (heavy is slow & bumbling, right?!)

Everyone is registered as a Light Dave. That will come out in the wash when we import the races. (Hopefully  ???)

Hi Marco,
You are welcome to race with us but we need to put you in the right place. We have 2 x Grids for F2, 2 x grids for 67 F1 & 3 x grids for the 65 mod. It all depends on how fast you are. If you look at the top of the Post you will see this division is divided into the Heavy & Lights. If you know some of the drivers can you say which standard you think you are?
If you are in the same "Team 7" as Fulvio Policardi you can ask him - he knows UK GPL quite well.

Marco is a GPL experienced driver, but it's long time since he raced last time. Now he's able to run GPL on his Win7 install so he want to return to race GPL.
I think he could run in the same group as me.

I can't see that you have actually voted in the Poll. Fulvio would you mind directing Marco where to vote in the different series.

There are 2 grids of drivers for the F2's

"light" is the faster group of drivers ;)

I hope i can keep up, i used to be somewhat fast but i've been away from sims for at least 2 years. Also i really like the f2s feeling.
If it would be possible i would also like to join the 65s leage

You must vote in the first post poll of the registration thread any choice.

So you will be registered for the series.

For the 65s you should vote for the Professionals or the Intermediates

I think your post is in the wrong place. This thread is for the 1967 Formual 2 series. Cooper T77 & the Monaco race are for the 1965 Mod. We currently have  3 separate 1965 divisions (Tuesday nights). If you are the "andy miller" on GPL Rank then you really should be in our top division - the Season 23 Professionals Trophy.
