Title: GT fun race with pitstops Daytona Fri 8th June Post by: EvilClive on June 04, 2012, 01:22:41 PM +0100 Another fun race with GT's and this time somewhere that the muscle cars can stretch their legs, but where the more nimble cars can make up some of the time around the infield.
So this time a race at Daytona over 26 laps, which makes it quite a long race. ;) 9:00p.m. Friday 8th June Password will be "pitstop" Lap 1 will be a Rolling Start and the stop times have allowed for this. THERE WILL BE A FULL ROLLING LAP. RACING WILL BEGIN AS THE LEAD CAR REACHES THE START LINE TO START LAP 2 Usual rules apply , but as this is a "FUN RACE" we can have unlimited Shift-R but each reset must take an SnG, which cannot be done at the same time as your pitstop. I hope that we get a good selection of cars on the grid and some good clean racing. Daytona - GT
First Pit Window is: 22 (to go on your pit board) to 12 (to go on your pit board) Second Pit Window is: 19 (to go on your pit board) to 9 (to go on your pit board) The race results Code: PRACTICE TIMES Title: Re: GT fun race with pitstops Daytona Fri 8th June Post by: Ronniepeterson on June 05, 2012, 09:19:12 AM +0100 For the record I have noted that this race has a rolling start

P.S. Please note WHERE the racing actually starts ;) Title: Re: GT fun race with pitstops Daytona Fri 8th June Post by: robert john on June 07, 2012, 08:11:26 AM +0100 While practicing some pitstops I noticed something that may be of help. If you get the "Press F1 For Help" message in the chat box you are not in your pitbox.
Also toured the garage area after missing the pits completely. Pretty spiffy back there. Peace RJ Title: Re: GT fun race with pitstops Daytona Fri 8th June Post by: Artiglietti on June 08, 2012, 09:57:15 PM +0100 Sorry guys, my wheel died on the grid, had to re-plug, but when I do that in-game all settings go banana, and driving the car becomes a punishment..I bailed out after the umptienth crash..hope you are having fun :'(
Title: Re: GT fun race with pitstops Daytona Fri 8th June Post by: BadBlood on June 08, 2012, 10:08:02 PM +0100 Blast - just getting used to my Chap after I blew the engine 1st lap and my Mum phones. Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh.
Hope you enjoyed it. Title: Re: GT fun race with pitstops Daytona Fri 8th June Post by: Ronniepeterson on June 08, 2012, 10:43:49 PM +0100 Apologies to Art who I torpedoed as he appeared in the middle of the track and Juha who may have been behind me as I slowed to pit. How typical that I should exit the pits to find Clive and a heap of blue flags ahead of me to contend with. I hope you understand why I passed and chose to ignore the blue flags. Just the idea of sitting behind your Porsche down the straights in my Ferrari had me in stitches.
Not sure what happened at the start. Long before anybody got to what I thought was the s/f line at the start of the second lap, everyone came barrelling past or into me. It came as a shock but did not spoil my enjoyment of this race. Great win in that tortoise of a Porsche Clive and grats to the rest of the podium. Ciao! Title: Re: GT fun race with pitstops Daytona Fri 8th June Post by: EvilClive on June 08, 2012, 10:57:20 PM +0100 First of all Ronnie is right about exactly where the race starts..I had totally forgotten that the start line and the Finish line are not in the same place :-\ Sry Ronnie. No probs about you passing me Ronnie blue flags do not mean that you CANNOT pass, just that you need to be careful not to do it somewhere where it can all go horribly wrong. ;)
Let's face it, That Porker was not going to give you much hassle on the straight was it Ronnie ???!! I waited for almost all drivers to join the track before selecting my car so that I could balance the field, but I did not expect that so few would be taking the Porsche!!! A shame that Art had probs, because by my calculations his pace should have made the last few laps very tense. He showed he could possibly lap about 4 secs faster in his Lola than I could lap in the Porker and with 10 laps to go I found myself some 33-34 secs ahead of the 2nd place car. It would be useful if those who took part and finished tonights race could post here about how many "offs" they had and approx how much time they think they lost. Axel ... can you retrieve the replay and results from the server, or is that not possible? Title: Re: GT fun race with pitstops Daytona Fri 8th June Post by: Cookie on June 08, 2012, 11:02:37 PM +0100 Some stupid thing happened at the start for me:
when I answered Attilios question in chat I hit the "pit in" button and on the grid I was in F10... As I am not in good phisical condition, I made too many mistakes, after the second crash into a wall I quit... I do love this track with the big bangers and Porsches ;) The replay is uploaded to the UKGPL_3 server in ~45 min Title: Re: GT fun race with pitstops Daytona Fri 8th June Post by: EvilClive on June 08, 2012, 11:09:42 PM +0100 Sorry to hear that you had problems :-\ Thanks for sorting the replay Axel ;) Title: Re: GT fun race with pitstops Daytona Fri 8th June Post by: Ronniepeterson on June 09, 2012, 10:16:13 AM +0100 It would be useful if those who took part and finished tonights race could post here about how many "offs" they had and approx how much time they think they lost. Looking at the replay the melee at the start (apologies to Axel and yourself) and the coming together wither Art in the middle of the track a bit later, probably cost me about a minute at most. However I did confirm from the mechanical report that the contact at the start left me with minor problems with my right front tyre and both my right and left front suspension for the entire race. This did affect the handling and consequently my optimum race lap times. Considering I finished just over a minute down at the end, I would have hoped to have been in the mix had I not had any problems. But such is racing. Also considering I almost took you out at the start it just goes to show how well that Porsche of yours went to make up any lost time! Thanks again for the race guys. In order to know that the pitstop times are correct it is important to know what time individulas lost through their mistakes. It is easy to blame the pitstops when you finish a long way behind, but the pitstop timings have to assume that you will drive a flawless race...of course this rarely happens ;) even without pitstops. I added up off time, extra time stationary in pits, and my last lap gaffe of slowing before the finish line. Somewhere around 40 - 45 seconds lost. Had an interesting little race with Juha though I couldn't quite match his pace. And Paul, my Mom called me as well. Twice. The 2nd time I had to answer just in case. It got a little busy trying to talk and drive while upshifting with phone in hand. Thanks for the race gentlemen Peace RJ Title: Re: GT fun race with pitstops Daytona Fri 8th June Post by: BadBlood on June 09, 2012, 06:08:44 PM +0100 And Paul, my Mom called me as well. Twice.
