Title: Handicaps for the 65's
Post by: BadBlood on June 20, 2012, 11:42:12 PM +0100
As the registrations are now complete I would like to propose that the Novices and Intermediates adopt the same handicapping system as the Historics (66's) and 67 F2's.

In other words, we would drop handicaps for the first three rounds and then the top three drivers in the championship will have to take slower cars.

If anyone has got any objections or comments, we would like to hear them.

not an objections rather a comment , and it rather depends on the size of the field and those at the sharp end . if you have say 5 top drivers jocking for the top spot and only handicapping the top 3 then it wont help , i don't know the make up of the Novices and Intermediates so i don't know what is best , only that you should take a look . what you are saying might work very well .

I'd always been in favour of this system, but did encounter exactly the kind of idiosyncracies John has indicated during a tight championship battle in Historics last season that perhaps showed up its limitations.

However this season Goran's new system of an 8 point threshold before handicapping in Historics looks like it might be a pretty cunning solution... I think it would work rather well in 65's too - so the championship leader would not be handicapped until he was 8 or more points ahead & then he'd take the Cooper. If he was 16 points in front he takes the BT7. And the same goes for 2nd & 3rd place too - so that if 3rd is 8 points clear of 4th he gets Coopered. Drop below the threshold & you're back in your normal chassis.

What I was toying with was handicapping the leader and anyone within 7 (or 8) points. The purpose being to give the midfield runners a bit of a chance... It is also simpler to enunciate... ;)
