what a fantastic track this is for high speed racing  8)

Watching the f1 onboards during the qualifying this afternoon reminded me that i have never actually driven the new Silverstone track layout, real or virtual!  :o So thought i had best get some laps in sharpish. I found it really disorientating for the first 5 laps or so, always expecting my laptime to finish past the old pit straight only to find you have another half lap to go for the s/f line and the new 'wing' complex, as well as learning the new corner complexes.

Got no lap times to compare against, so here are mine: 2:05.2 qually, 2:06.5 Race fuel so far. Had to make several tweaks to help the car and sure with some spare time would make more and hopefully go quicker. I expect H@L's brute power car will dominate here, especially as it doesnt seem to have the tyre degradation such a heavy beast should have.

Loved chucking the RSR through the super fast corners and you guys in LMP2 are going to have an absolute corker !

hello,

i think the race laps to race lengths are not correct calculated, think there are only 22 or 23 laps for 60min. race.

correct should be 29laps in dry.

Berger is right. I raced here the first time we tried Silverstone in UKGTR fun event, and I remember that the race finished earlier than it should. To avoid this issue, it's better if you set the race lenght in terms of laps, and not of time lenght. If you set 60 mins, the race lenght will be 22 laps, I just tried it. The right number of laps should be 28 or 29, calculating the pace lap and the pit stop. You decide ;)

Hope to see you later... but I'm not sure to be able to join the race yet.

I'm sorry to say but I don't like this new version much, I don't know why they changed it. It's like taking the Mona Lisa and painting a moustache on her. It has been spoiled I am about 2.25ish and can't see me getting much better than that as I just cant grasp these corners, however I will see you there.

Practice and Quali went OK. I decided to use the F430 as the 997 just wouldn't work for. BIG mistake.

I knew it would rain near the start of the race so I played it safe and went for Intermediates, wasn't raining and had little grip so I changed to slicks, started to rain and lost a lot of grip so changed to wet tyres and had even less grip spun every lap after 8 or so sometimes twice.

Sorry if I got in anyone's way.

:cursing: :death: :2guns: Ferrari.

D'oh like other British drivers, Silverstones changeable weather wasnt kind to me in the end  ::)

Had a decent enough race, mostly with Nsfast in one way or another, and enjoyed the mixed weather to spice things up. Found myself running 4th after everyone had made their stops and thinking that if the track stayed wet i might be on for a decent result as others seemed to be struggling on their tyre choices at the stops. However, it all un-ravelled in the end as the rain disapeared as quickly as it came and despite all my attempts to splash through puddles to keep my wets cool, they just died a horrible death with about 4 laps remaining, and i sadly dropped 4 places down the order to a measly 8th as my rears were just like glass. It wouldnt even drive in a straight line  :o  To kick me while i was down, the last placed car even managed to nip by me with 2 corners remaining as i had zero traction  :'(
Wish i had gone for inters at the pitstop but it was so dark and wet i assumed the rain would be there for a while...but it wasnt.  :-X

Well done to all who competed and finished.  :)

Eventful race for me. :)

Berger seemed to make a mistake early on (or maybe just letting a few people pass to give him self more of a challenge ;D) which gave me the lead and I did my best to hold on to it.

I had planned to go to about half way through the race before stopping due to the forecast indicating that the rain would back off towards the end so it should be at its heaviest in the middle of the race if it came. When the rain did come I stayed out as long as I could to see if I would need wets or inters. I decided to go with inters hoping that I would not need another stop for tyres.

After Berger had made his stop he soon caught me and we had an incident. My fault. Sorry about that Berger. :(

I needed repairs and so came in the pit for a 2nd stop soon after that. I kept the intermediate tyres on but, I wish I had changed to slicks. Berger was way faster than me towards the end of the race. I thought you would have wet tyres on Berger so I was hoping for them to go off but you kept getting faster as my inters went off. I was wondering where you got that speed from towards the end. ;D

Thanks for attending all.

Grats Matteo and Berger.

Unlucky spanner.

See you all at the next one. :)

BiT is not made for this track, too heavy and clumsy - or maybe it was me. :P Started on soft slicks and stayed on them until they cooled down and lost grip. Planned one regular pitstop for fuel and I also changed tyres to hard wets as I assumed it will stop raining and soft wets would up in the red in two laps. I think it was the right decision, I stayed with HW until they started to overheat and the spray disappeared, then stopped for soft slicks again. Gained 4 places from quali so I count this race as successful. :)

Lucky Strike for me! ;D

Started very badly, I immediately lost 5 positions at the start. Lap after lap, I did a good come back, but a couple of spin, put me with a gap of apprximately 12 seconds by H@l, that was leading the race in the early stages.
I didn't watch the weather forecast before the race, so when the rain started to fall I was a bit suprised, but I decided to stay out with the med tyres, hoping the track would have been dried soon. In that 6-7 laps of damp and wet grip on the tarmac, I really stuggled to keep the Porka on the track, but my patience was well rewarded. The track grip back on damp very soon, and I realized that I could have won the race after H@l and Berger went to the pit for the second time. I thought they went to the pit only to change the tyre compund, but indeed they had an accident, so I could gain more than 40 seconds by them after their pit.
I just kept the Porka on the track, with a really safe pace til the end, to avoid the 3rd track cut that would have cost me the lead.
However, my courage was well rewarded and I'm pretty happy for the result :)

Grats to all the driver at the checkered flag, and well done to H@l and Berger for their pody. Hope to see you for the LMP2 race next Sunday.

Bye :)

no problem H@l9000,

we both had unluck in this situation that cars got damaged.
i got message....you loose air in the tyre.... and car did drive totaly to left side (or was it right side?? did forgot) and i had to come to pitbox, in this income lap i did loose much much time, because car was extrem hard to hold on track.

as i saw, that the conditions changed from wet to damp again, i did gamble and switch back to dry med tyres, as i must do a tyre change with loose air tyres.

well done to matteo for win with good gamble strategy and good drive with dry tyres in wet conditions
and well done to h@l9000 for 3rd place.

see you in last race

Having been away for so long i was getting a bit a bit aprehensive. A few laps beforehand and i couldnt beleive i used to like the 997 lol. But a few more lucky tweaks and it was better. My biggest problem was getting the braking sorted, but managed to in the end.

Surprised to qualify so well. Was struggling during the race with the concentration needed especially when it got wet. Decided to pit a bit earlier to try and get on the wets sooner but they didnt feel that great! Was really struggling with the car with 10 laps to go, fighting it everywhere as the rears were horribly worn and red hot! After going off through Becketts my focus dropped and was struggling not stop as i was knackered, so gave up.

Good to be back though!
