A bit off topic but a good place to get a response.

I am looking for ideas for the next bunch of Thursday evening P&G series
So if anyone has some things they would like to see, that might be popular
please PM me.

P&G v3 might actually come out some time, but seems vapourware to me at the moment
as the developers find more and more things to add and fine tune, so we will keep running V2.1 series
as long as there is interest.

That's a surprise Matt.

I didn't expect there to be another PnG series.

But if there is an unexplored corner of PnG that proves popular then jolly good!

Possibly a really, really, long series featuring the 970cc Mini. What's not to love right there?

Like I said "as long as there is interest"

If people are not interested any more then we won't bother to run it.
Seems that enough people turn up on occasion to continue for the time being.

Hello all.

My G25 is disconnected since about 1 month and a half, but I guess I'll be back soon. I'm still interested in the SimRacing PnG series, even in v2.1 of course. But I have not enough time for the moment, could change in the coming weeks.

See y'all. Have some good races !

I posted a question on No Grip forums, and DucFreak says they are trying for a P&G v3 release
possibly next month, subject to "voodoo" as he says. So, if V3 is released before the end of these
current series then we will start with V3 imediately after. Otherwise I will run a few short series
while we wait.

Very good news !!!  :)

I'm interested in a new P&G series too - but no concrete idea yet.
Are there any official addons for P&G we could use (I have a lot of GTR2-addon cars
of that era running in P&G...)

Time of course and unfortunately ever will be a factor due to my work-related situation  :(

I uninstalled 2.1 a few months ago as I found it so frustrating to drive. I'm hoping V3 will be better sorted in this respect and if so I will return to racing it here.

TBH I found racing Historx to be far more enjoyable than 2.1 and can't understand why more leagues don't use it....plenty of love, but currently nothing afaik in the European timezone  ???

I would suggest some Historx trial races here in the interim period, but it's a bit of a nightmare to set up (ask Clive  :D) and might put some off. Could be worth consideration though  :-\

I've looking at the Historix mod as I liked the idea of online realtime daylight but beyond that fail to fully grasp it's attraction. Isn't it just a collection of GTL cars imported onto another sim-racing engine. And you need to have Rfactor so where's the USP?
I think it would be a hard sell to introduce here whilst GTL is still heavily supported by new mods and tracks. I do mirror your frustraction with P&G and always have done. Never fully bought into that "more realistic handling" boast. But it was free and tacked onto GTR2 fairly easily.
@SpecialK No additional mods except skins possibly.

Sorry for posting here. Please move if considered too off-topic

I'll try to have a look at it. If I can get it working then we could try a race or two to gather opinion.
I also am uncomfortable about mods that people knock up from rFactor, and Tony's right about GTL mods

Personally I never really understood why people put so much time into rFactor/GTR2 mods
when the physics and the way the cars handle in Race07 was more realistic.
native GTR2 itself works well IMHO, It's always baffled me why the P&G cars don't handle as well as the
GTR2 model they are developed from. I assume it's because they are just modded GTL cars really.

Anyway we are going off topic rather. Perhaps we could start a "Future of P&G" topic if lots of people
want to make input.

Looks like I cannot make this one because I - for one more time - cannot get my GTR2 started.
Same problem like last week - thought I had soved it.

Cannot find the thread ( at nogrip I think) where I found the solution last week  :(

edit: wrong week  ???

I'm sure that when the V3 will be released even some VDA friends will add to the fun again in UKP&G. I will try to (re)make a good team to give a deserved challenge to John and SBRCs guys.

It's still my favourite sim, and the new car physics will be surely appreciated as they are a big step forward compared to the 2.1 ;)

Let's wait another month...

Having downloaded and installed Symmons, my P&G wouldn't start ! When I remove the track again, the game starts as usual (¤_¤).

Anybody else with the same problem ?

I haven't tested the installer. Dave did it for me.

The one we are using is the standard one from NG from MR INgall

http://www.nogripracing.com/files/get/2306/Symmons+Plains+2006+v1_0+by+MR_INGALL.rar

Try installing that?

Just tried it on line with FMG and his friend and works fine so far as I can see.
(They were using the original NG install)

When this has happened to me I have found that uninstalling a few of the tracks that I do not need gets it going again.

I can now load the game, but get a CTD, when I try to load a track, any track actually

I think I need a completely new installation of P&G ........ once more  :'(

Try to change the directx by the GTR2 config. For example, if you setted "auto", try with directx7 or 8, then check if the problem still stand.

Synthesis: I joined the server without any issue with the normal password. Are you sure you are in the Pilsbierbude lobby instead of the Simbin one?

I now have my P&G running nice and smoothe again :- ))

Just some laps on the server, and I think it's a great track. It has some nice  'brake late and your dead' spots,  that will ensure some Mustang-ploughing I'm sure  ;)

BTW, I don't remember the name of the small program, that enables you to check tyrewear, temp and fuel-usage correctly.

Help please !

Yes, it is in the Heading for the race:

Racing in the Pilsbierbude lobby. Make sure your LOCAL _IP_LOBBY.TXT file (In the game folder) contains 91.121.102.7
Some have found that they can get straight in. Others have had to change their username or password or both.

So. edit the LOCAL _IP_LOBBY.TXT file in your main P&G game folder. perhaps copy it to LOCAL _IP_LOBBY.TXT.BCK first
and put 91.121.102.7 in it.

Then, the game will connect to the German Pilsbiere lobby. you may need to register a new name, I don't think it needs a password.

Sorry for the double language topic chaps :)

For you I can't say , for me, they were all within 1 tenth

Vette is probably fastest in a straight line. but understeers more
The Falcon and the Mustang are quite similar. The falcon
might be a bit slower on the straight than the AATC Mustang

The Vette is probably the hardest to drive consistently
It wants to swap ends under power at every exit.

Sounds like a plan then  ;D

Are Coupe and Roadster allowed?

Hmm, scratch that. Tried the Coupe and was too fast in it, while I found the Roadsters at least couple of seconds off the pace of the Mustang & Falcon.
Falcon it is, then  :)

;D - yep -that was a funny moment - Matt and me, both Corvettes at the same time
at the same place in the countryside - lol.

Could improve in mastering the Corvette and found some good setup changes,
so I was nearly able to compete with the "slower" guys. Set new PB, had another
very good lap later on but after a second excursion in the countryside at that
particular place again I lost concentration and quit for good.

Nevertheless this was a funny one.

More and more curious about P & G V.3  ;)

Think that I owe Matt a pint.  ;D

I managed to grab pole with a fluke lap and getting in John's way when he was on his flying lap probably helped too!  ::)

I made a good start and couldn't believe my luck when John didn't follow me out of the hairpin on lap one.  I was greatly disappointed when everyone let him back through again.  ;D

Then I put my head down and went as fast as I could.  John and I traded tenths over the next 39 laps and thankfully the first lap incident just gave me enough gap.  I'm sure that had John been close enough to harass me then the result could have been a whole lot different.

I think that Stig decided to get out of the way and let us fight it out after everyone else had left, making it a totally soggy podium.

Stig had given me a setup for the Mustang which I kept in reserve as I started practice with my NTK setup from Lime Rock.  That gave me plenty of opportunity to examine the excellent tyre wall.  The detail in the tread patterns was top notch.  I ended up just taming that setup and probably took off just a tad too much steering.  In its initial state the straight was a problem and braking a real issue!

As the race progressed the front tyres went off a bit but then I guess that John had the same problem because I was able to stay out of reach.

Many thanks for a great night's racing.  I was knackered by the finish.

And there's me thinking you were simply maintaining the gap to keep it interesting! Shame we weren't closer, but the only way I could get a really fast lap was to try and drift it all the way round the last corner... which seldom worked ;D Settled down after a while in the hope that you'd make a mistake, which you didn't :thumbup1:

Both Kurt and I went over the fence in the last turn on the same lap and both had to pick our way through
the scenery. Then I set about trying to catch Stig, but kept making mistakes, last one had me backwards into
that final fence and the car went up in flames, so I gave up. Good fun while it lasted though  ;D

Oh, and my tyres were wearing quite fast, and the car was getting more difficult to keep on the limit.
