Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk GTC
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=375&theme=5)

Special Notes: None

No. However the server should be back up directly after the P&G race

This Sunday I will go to the Viva Italia event on the Assen track (best track in the world btw ) with my sons, so I feel it is only logical to pick the Alfa GTAm for this event. It might turn out to be the slowest, with me behind the wheel anyway, but I am looking forward to it.

Now about GTR/PnG; i was kidding at first, but after watching the video of your race on Charade I started to look into it...That is a superb mod! And it is attracting more drivers so it seems.
I also noticed I can get a version of GTR for only 12 dollar of of Steam; a no brainer so it seems. 8) Have to wait and see if my old desktop can cut it racing online decently with GTL this Monday and hopefully can acquire a copy of GTR2 then.

If your computer can run gtl then it should run gtr2. at the moment i use an old x700 ati card with only 512 video memory and runs no prob.

Yeah, I am aware that I am on the low-end of the graphics spectrum with my system (funny, as I seem to run recommended specs as mentioned on back of the DVD), although I don’t mind turning all eye-candy down to much if I can maintain decent FPS.
I currently run a Radeon 9600 pro -256mb on stock speeds. I am gonna give overclocking a go to see if it improves frame rates. (If it doesn’t give improvements I reckon it is the mainboard/processor holding me back)
As it seems I can get me an X800 xt radeon for little money…

P&G is certainly popular but I think it's a matter of personal preference if you find it "superb". IMO it still has questionable physics for some of the cars and a very unforgiving damage model. But full grids tell their own story. Hope you have the chance to try it out.

Yep - I live about one hour away.

But I won't visit the 24 hours race - more interested in the oldtimer events
- just thinking about a visit at Spa the next weekend but don't know yet whether
I'll find the time: http://www.spa-classic.com/ (http://www.spa-classic.com/).

Did three laps on the Nordschleife on a bicyle more than 30 years ago ;-)
- down the Fuchsroehre without a helmet ... I may not think about that today.

Sorry for quiting  so quickly but I just completely "lost it",  ::) ??? I just couldn't stay on the track and with 2 track cut warnings and losing time on each off it was only matter of time for stop n go.  :(  So decided not to prolong agony but leave you all to enjoy.  ;D

Bad luck Tony.

After losing Bill then Tony, we were down to a two car race by about lap 5 (GT was already 30secs up the road despite hanging round at the back for the first 3 laps)... so motivation was getting lower.
Eventually got my 3rd cut track & it was all the excuse I needed to exit. Sorry chaps, but wasn't interested in doing another 30 mins with only one other car to race see (when I left, my fastest lap was more than 2 secs quicker, so sadly we weren't really racing, just occupying similar places on track between me falling off).

Do 5/6 car grids warrant 40 minute races? :-\
I would think 90% of the close quarters action is over in the first 5-10 minutes, then we're just waiting to see who'll get a disco or have to repair their car (i.e. a shorter race would feel like a busier race).
Sorry if it sounds like a moan, I just don't understand

Discotime  ::)

Didn't expect to make this one, so no pracci plus the fact that Zolder is a bit of a bogey track for me meant I hadn't a clue what car to choose. Saw Legzy join in a 911 so defaulted to that for a safe bet, only to find he'd changed to a stang. Result....much too quick to have any kind of a race  :(

Anything we can do about these discos Tony?.....they are getting just too frequent in GTL these days to the point that I expect it to happen each race  :(

Edit: In fairness Legzy, we do generally have busier grids than this (I'm guessing around 10 is average?) but they do seem to have dropped off very recently.....holiday time?

We were missing a few regulars last night, Mike, Kurt, Syd, Matt spring to mind, and Quicksilver John was with us earlier in the evening?

I chose the Boss as I hate this track and didn't want to waste a "good" car on this round. But to my suprise the Shelby beast felt really good at this circuit and I was cracking in some respectable times. Had some tasty scraps with Postal but the dreaded "Lost Connection" message appeared before GT had a chance to join in.

I'll pop over to Simbin and see how were fixed for running in their lobby. Then we can decide if it's worth the faff to proceed. No timescale at present for this.

I was out cycling last evening and got bit by a stray dog. After a quick trip to the emergency room, and a tetanus shot, I wasn't in the mood for racing. Luckily it's not too bad, as I was moving fast it only managed to graze me, not quite get the teeth in. So I got something like a claw mark on my left calf. Should be back in action by next week.

When I retire I'm going to write a book called "Simracing and similar excuses".

Syd you and your dog will definitely be in it.  ;)

I once got attacked by a goose when I was on my bike  :o Nasty little things and best avoided if you ask me.

Thanks! It was quite lonely out there to be honest.. I was anticipating a race long scrap with Tony and his very loud Stang, but that wasn’t to be. (sorry Tony for the little tap after you passed me, your switchback after T1 was more abrupt then I expected. My bad)
I wanted to see if I could do the distance with my setup, so I decided to march on to the finish. It looked like there was no measure on the speed of a 911?!.. The GTAm with a better setup and driver could do a 1.50sec maybe, but that will still be much slower then the 1.47 Goldtop posted. Well, hopefully a bigger grid next race. (maybe the races can be run in two manches if attendance is low?)

p.s. I have a problem loading the replay. It CTD’s, both my in game replay and the downloaded one from this site. Can anyone confirm if theirs work?

We seem to be getting discoes in PG as well, usually it is the same people, but I am not sure how much of it is
the individual's conn or our server. Easy to blame the server, but some people hardly ever disco - me for one
and I connect using a good BT Infinity, or a rubbish Sky broadband narrowband one depending on
where I am that week. Either way I only disco when someone joins, and then very very rarely, yet others
disco nearly every week, so I have to assume it's the person's ISP. Get a new ISP guys?

With me it was probably just something random happened I just decided I was tired lol.

I rarely (if ever) get a disco got a 12Mb connection with Talk Talk.

I'm going to be doing some races on the Simbin server this week so I'll see if I last the distance or get the usual Lost Connection. I'll also use Game Booster to turn off unnecessary PC things whilst I race.

Getting Virgin Media's 100Mb Fibre Optic Broadband installed in July so hopefully that will make a difference.

I've got their 60Mb package, I still get disconnected from about one event in fifteen (thats about once a month for me between GTL/PnG/GTR2).

p.s. To be a fair test, you should only change one thing (i.e. not both Sinbin server racing & game booster, or you won't know which one fixes the problem :)).

Just finished two 24 grid races on the Simbin server. I had Game Fire on and turned off my Internet Security.

Not a lost connection or CTD all night! (and I finished 7th in the 2nd race  )

Although i didn't have had much races on your server yet, i experienced no problems during the races and online practice. I have to check but i believe my ISP package is 30Mb's. I am not using anything like gamebooster, but it looks like a handy tool.

Good to have some clean races under your belt then! Lookes like a competative field on RD. Nice job!

I noticed i am only having problems with replays from GTC races. FERR & MvE are loading fine now. Is there a skin pack i should be using?
