Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

I think that's just a generic error message though.

First race on the Simbin lobby and I get a disco just as we went to grid. The irony is not lost on me  :censored: :censored: :censored: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing:

Yeah, the error message is usually "General login error" for a Register problem.
I didn't even re-register. The boxes were already filled out from the GTL version I'd copied so I thought "what the hell" and went straight to join lobby and to my amazement it worked first time.

Mmm hoped the transit to the new lobby would solve it Tony. Too bad it doesn't seem the remedy.

Is it possible to ask people to stay connected during the race, even if they are not continuing? Once again i get a frozen screen when someone leaves during the race. This time i was nicely in third when Hristo left and i was out too, a bit like last week at Istanbul. It is getting a bit annoying and it seems avoidable to me.
Or should it be something to do with my pc?

Edit: well it seems we had random disco's, so sorry to Hristo who had a disco from the lead, when i thought you just left the game.

Well that was intense.

After lap 5 Hristo just boosted away and I can only assume he had problems a few laps later as I got passed him then I spun and he went passed me then he left. (I can only assume Disco)

At the start of the last lap I noticed I was very low on fuel the light was flashing so I done the last lap at 80MPh in 4th and made it (somehow)

3rd connection lost in 4 races, always near the end with few laps to go. I'm pretty sure it's something to do with either the server or the line between myself and the server. No issues whatsoever on other sims/leagues and online games. It also used to be just fine when I was driving in UKGTL before. Never had a disco back then.

Quicksilver, I had to slow down to pick up my speaker which fell on the floor because of the FF, lol.  :P Congrats for the win!

It looks like Roger was problematic. I noticed you were getting track miss-match messages and also your times were always at the bottom of the listings in my XD even though they were faster than some others. I will remind all drivers that it is important that you download your track from this site to ensure that we are all running the same track version.

Thanks all for the racing, I was also plagued with a number of Disco's thru out the evening, I even switched over to another ISP Link.
Had a bad start, forgot where first gear was, "LOL", countdown came and everyone launched but me, I was still In neutral, quickly fixed that, sorry to the guys behind me causing confusion at the start. Once I was mobile the plan was not to be brave and maintain a steady pace, I was maintaining the I think it was Postal and we where slowly catching the guy up ahead, Goldtop was very quick in the beginning and was able to catch us thru the slower sections before the pits.
After I had a off the gap due to me own fault I lost the tow and decided just to finish, was still able to keep Goltop behind at this stage.

On the third last lap I was concerned on the fuel consumption so I slowed down and short shifted trying to make it to the end.
I had inherited 2nd spot at this stage, obviously the guys ahead of me had had there own issues, needless to say I fell victim to a final Lap "DISCO". !!!! :-[
A well, at some point I am sure this problem will sorted, ill take it as a mechanical failure of some kind.
 

Hey Mike, too bad about your dnf. I was driving with sweat in my hands with your stang filling my mirrors. I was looking forward too a good scrap, wasnt too be.

This problem of yours has got me stumped. I have no idea why that happens. Can anyone offer some advice here?

I don't think that we can ask folk to stay on once they have crashed. They may stay to watch the race but if not they probably want to use the PC for other stuff.
You didn't have a problem when Ivan left did you? So it's only when someone else has a disco, like Hristo.

We are all getting fed up with disco's not only in GTL but also in P&G.

Matt has been running some races on a spare home PC and I'm going to look into doing this as well. You guys will still connect via the lobby, in fact you shouldn't notice anything different. But hopefully it may rid us of this disco fever (sorry, couldn't resist that).

I'll try and sort something out for next weeks race but my free time is limited this week so no promises. I'll post over at next weeks race thread on any developments.

In the meantime I really need you guys to keep the faith and help me test stuff. I can't do this on my own guys. Another grid like last night will be perfect for testing my home rig and broadband suitability. Our usual server will be running anyway so we can always fall back to that if required.

I'm sure you did Roger but you were definately the cause, albeit inadvertantly, of the results problem last night. These things happen and maybe I should have posted online last night when I saw the miss-match messages. But often these sort themselves out come race time and the messages disapear. Did you race? The replay doesn't show you on the grid.

Err do you mean Five of you left at the end? Can you tell me where you finished and I'll try to correct the results.

Hi   on monitor panel on right side upper just showed 4 drivers left i was last, also my name seemed to be the only one with + numbers?

On the first lap you were showing up as being in 1st and after that you went into last place, however the time gap showed you should have been in 6th or there abouts.


The disco problem seems only to affect certain people. Are you all running with the same ISP? I have had no problems other than once, however that was a local issue my homeplug somehow lost connection but our wifi was fine.

Can anyone confirm Roger's finishing position please?

Well there was a terrible mismatch between the pit lap boards and Xd with as rogers states, he was shown as + not minus.  Each time I passed the pit board Roger was shown falling back but then I noticed after part on a lap he suddenly jumped to a lower + time.  He surprised me when he first caught up with me and passed me then he spun.  On the 20th lap he tried to pass me into one of the chicanes and put me into the barrier breaking my suspension.  So yes at the end there were only 4 cars running as I was out and shown on my position screen as disqualified.  ::) ???

Sorry BillThomas in both of my GTL races have put you out by my errors.
Sorry gents for causing confusion in this race.Will drop out of GTL now and let you guys sort out your disco probs, without me adding more.

I'm certain that that's the last thing any of us want. The confusion isn't down to anything you've done, it's just one of those Internet sim-racing gremlin type things. Please re-consider.

Missing the best lap times from the race?

Don't drop out of GTL Roger, whilst it's annoying, it's what happens when drivers are aiming for the same piece of track.

The most annoying thing was the duff data I was getting.  Once again all these gremlins get visited upon us at times.

Hi Thanks for replys , will try GTL again, perhaps midweek Tony could run a server to test why i give you mismatches, any tips or info to try with my GTL install would be appreciated.

Maybe try that. BTW miss-matches are pretty rare but usually occur when a driver has a different revision of the same track or car mod.

Hi    joined server ok, going on track got (gamedata\sim_GTC_gdb mismatch)  drove for about a minute then got connection lost. Cars downloaded and track from your links Tony, any ideas?

EDIT: Have you set your game to Simulation mode? That's the hardest setting with no aids switched on.
