Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk FIFT

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=374&theme=5)
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

No car choice restrictions for this season opener. However all future races will count against your car choices tally.

Can all drivers please make sure that they have the very latest car mods installed.

I know it's a faff but if you delete your current set and re-download those listed in the race announcement we should avoid any race night drama's.

Thanks Tony.  Sold original and bought all DBR2s from Dealer (zero there now) and my garage has all DBR2s in it, but still none shown when I try and select a car to drive.  ::) ???

Will go back and uninstall again and try once more.  :(

No change, all DBR2s in my garage but non available to select to drive.  :cursing: :dots: :hammer:

Suggestions Please.

Annoying thing is I've had no problems with '55 cars until I'd uninstalled and reinstalled.  :'(

After much head scratching (nits) I think I have the answer Bill. All four of the Aston Martin DBR2 .CAR files are missing the GTC-65 group. I'll ask Dave to create a new install for the four cars affected. Meanwhile if you want to fix yourself open each .CAR file in Wordpad or similar and delete the line beginning with the word classes (near the bottom of the text) and replace with this

classes="SIM_FULL, SIM_LM55, SIM_4SDBR2, SIM_TOURING, SIM_DAG3NOT, SIM_GTC65"

Cut and paste it in. This should fix it. Let me know ASAP please so I can get a install fix underway.

Thanks Tony it's now "A" OK.  Minor point need to tick the GTC-65 option in Event Options.  (Had them all ticked yesterday).

Having had download problems in the past (Windows and Norton have now learnt to give me the "Run Anyway" option) I like to sort out and check downloads early.  I guess that's the penalty being the first to try it out.  ::)  ;)

How far do you get with GTL before the loss? Into the lobby? On track?

EDIT: At the Lobby, look at bottom of the screen for Data Rate. Have you set this to ISDN?

WOW! Talking about slidey heaven!

Anybody got any kind of laptime they've managed & in what car?
I've got 1.11 in the DB1 so far (I reckon there's more there, if I could just convince myself to stop going sideways  :angel:/ >:D)

I also am doing 1:11 but in the Jag '57.

EDIT: Just remembered that this first race in the series doesn't impact on future car choices so I may take my trusty DBR2 instead.

Me and Jules have been practising for this one. Cars are a bit of a mixed bag timewise but I'm managing low 1:08s in a couple of them. Others I struggle to get a lap in.

Anyone thinking GTL is a bit carp compared to PnG should give these a try and while you're at it, use the ffb from V3 and you'll be even more pleasantly surprised.....Clive  ;)

Total disaster.. Clutch wasn't working at start.. So jump start.. Did stop and go. Then lap one Jules had a spin on his own and ending up in the middle of the track and I could not avoid a collision. Car was bent a bit from that point.. Made my way through the field to second only to have a #$%^&*! Java pop up drop me to desktop. I know when I came back into the game I was hitting other people as well, so very sorry if that affected anyones outcome. Suspension was toast. DOA...

:) Great quali.. ;D ......pipping Navin to P1

Great race, but Navin was in P1 but pitted after one lap? I bet it was fuel!!  ??? So I went into tyre preservation mode and thank goodness they lasted all race.  :) The only problem I had was a splash & dash a few laps from the end....It just was not worth risking when the light came on although the gauge had been on empty for ages!! I think 48 laps worth next time Tony.  ;D

P1 An excellent start to the season......Well done Syd and Goldtop and all that managed to finish. ;)

Probably the twistiest circuit of the entire series was our season opener. Hope you all enjoyed it. I had some cracking scraps with Legzy and Jules in between various cross country excursions. Great fun trying to get the power down early enough whilst trying to keep the car on something resembling a straight line. Thought it was a great circuit and hope to use it again next season. Well done all finishers, see you all next time at Sebring which couldn't be more different from this circuit.

Well that was all go last night. Hardly a dull moment as I always seemed to be battling or chasing someone. Seemed like every time I caught up with someone they either spun right in front of me or had a big sideways moment causing me to spin avoiding them :D

Had a bit of a tangle when lapping Bill into T1. Thought you were letting me past but we met up mid corner  :-*

Well done to Mark for a dominant win and hard luck Navin.

Very much enjoyed my long overdue GTL comeback, in a supporting role to team mate Mark (it's been a while eh). I enjoyed many fights & offs & even more slides ;D

Very pleased to do my bit with a 4th place finish, combined with Mark's great drive, Team Oldie are back at the top of a UKGTL Team Championship

Won't be here every week, but hope to make more than I miss :)

Better late than never - tradesmen estimates, bedrooms etc, starts tomorrow.  ::) :'(

Decided that on a "4 gear track", the D type was the safest bet.  New PB qualifying, reasonable start avoided the other drivers probs got up to 6th or 7th'  The other drivers passed me over a few laps until Jules was closing fast held him off for a couple of corners until out braked my self.  After that trying to use full track width I suddenly lost my judgement of left hand wheels position and had too many offs by the time I was half a minute behind the leaders were with me.  After that I just lost concentration, it's me age y'no,  :wheelchair: after a couple more disasters I quit.  :surrender:

No, still not fully understanding. Drum? Just remove everything Fifties and re-download everything again. Buy the cars that you want to drive. Job done. All the cars live in the GTC-65 folder under a sub-folder call LM55 except for the Mercedes which lives within the Mercedes folder in it's own sub-folder.

Is there an issue with sound with these cars? My engine sound is quite loud, but every time someone got close to me, their engine was all I could hear. It would completely overlap my own engine. When Navin caught me, I almost couldn't hear anything from his engine noise, made a lot of mistakes shifting gears at the wrong time etc for a couple of laps, until finally making a big enough error for him to get by. Other than that it was pretty good race. Never heard of this place, but I really like the combo track-Jag. Early on I found my self in second place. Knowing some faster folks were behind, I decided to ignore XD timings, and just concentrate on the race. I know I start making mistakes when I'm checking on the timings, and the gap is always coming down every lap. So I didn't know what was happening around me. Of course I knew where Navin was when he caught me sometime in the middle of the race. But I was surprised to see I finished second, I never knew Navin retired.
Grats to Mark on the win, and Goldtop, on completing the podium.

I don't know if I would call it an issue Syd. But I agree that the engine sounds are LOUD and you can usually hear an approaching car before you see it. I believe that GTL has a slider control under Audio for other cars engine sounds if it's a problem for you. Other than that there's very little that I can suggest you do.

Someone asked in-game about the tyre choices available. Some cars have two choices, one is called Vintage and the other is a Dunlop 600L 16 CR48. I looked up the latter and it is a Vintage tyre but available today and at over £200 a go they ain't cheap.
I'm not going to rule that either one shouldn't be used so it's still your choice Guy's.
