Not very keen on the Triumph or Healey, but really like the Alpine.

I thought the 1300 seemed a bit too quick, so tried the 1100 which was a bit too slow. I think we will be seeing a lot of little blue cars in this race.

Can you give some times GT?

I too found the difference between these cars suprising considering their specs.

3 litre, 205hp Healey could only manage 1:36's and has scary lift-off oversteer to contend with. In fact the whole chassis feels very lively in the twisty's.

2 litre, 175hp TR4 was quicker doing 1:34's. I thought that the gearbox was dreadfull and I had to adjust the FRB.

1.3 litre Alpine was the fastest with consistent 1:32's but I found it a little dull to drive. However you can get quick times almost instantly with no changes to the default setup.

Was just a quick blast round after setting gears, stiffening susp etc, but as I said I don't like the cars so wasn't inspired to spend more time with them....

CarDescription=TRIUMPH TR4
TotalNumLaps=2
BestLapTime=95.068588

CarDescription=AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MK II
TotalNumLaps=3
BestLapTime=95.460327

Alpine felt better after stiffening up but still tweaks/pracci to do....

CarDescription=ALPINE RENAULT A110 1300
TotalNumLaps=9
BestLapTime=90.486694

Edit: amended the Healey time after another quick blast.

i banged in some laps today just to have fun as i cant attend the race.

Austin Healey 1:33.3
Triumph TR4 (Coupe '63) 1:32.6
Alpine 1300 1:31.5

Sorry Matt but must emphasise again to watch the cars year of development to keep these races closer. The Alpine is 3 years newer than the latest Healey so no way they will rival each other on track. Im nearly 2 secs a lap quicker in the 1968 Alpine, despite putting in more laps in the Healey 1963 or 1965. I didnt try the roadster TR4's which are later years so they may be more competition but i see this race just being a Alpine dominated affair with everyone choosing it.  :( I'd drop the Alpine and put in a similar pace sports car.
I tried the Alpine 1100 out to see if that would be a closer match but its little engine meant it was only able to do 1:38's around this fast track.

Well the Lotus Elite could be a worthy replacement for the Alpine 1300 based on this (see Class B).....

http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=304921

I had a few laps....

CarDescription=LOTUS ELITE
TotalNumLaps=7
BestLapTime=95.1913

I think it would be a slow, but easy to drive choice (and a tad boring) compared to Healey and TR4. NG also put the 1275 Mini in same class so maybe that could be another contender. There must be a few more  :-\

Edit: tried a couple more...

CarDescription=JAGUAR MK II 4.2L
TotalNumLaps=4
BestLapTime=94.813019

CarDescription=Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta
TotalNumLaps=4
BestLapTime=93.647949

Lotus Elite in my hands was capable of a 1:37

Maybe just drop the Renault and keep it as a choice of two?

Also we could just use the '63 year cars

This was a member inspired event, but i tried the cars, and they were quite similar for me.
I will have a quick test and adjust accordingly, can't change anything after tonight because
I am away for a week.
EDIT: Removed ALpine 1300 as it was too quick, added 250 Belinetta as for me
it is only a couple of tenths slower than the TR4, and added the Elite and the Mini 1275, as although they are
quite a bit slower, not everyone wants the fastest and most challenging cars.

Have been trying the Triumph TR4 + Ferrari 250 Berlinetta + Austin Healey Mk2 + Lotus Elite (I've never been able to drive a mini ::))

Am between 1:33-1:35 in all four so far, Elite being the slowest as expected but also possibly the most fun ;D.

Nice combo, have high hopes of joining you this Thursday.

The Ferrari has great engine-sounds, but it feels VERY floating and I can't get any real drive feel in it.
The rest of the cars are all nice to drive, even though IMO, this track is better suited for faster cars.

I always liked the TR4 in P&G, and its still a favorite of mine. I managed 1.31.295 in the coupe and can't get anywhere near that time in the other cars.

Happy new year to you all.  :sorcerer: :sorcerer: :euro:

I look forward to racing you in 2013.

It was practice, soft tyres, medium fuel. I get equal times for the roadsters and the coupes.
I'm sure JohnW or one of the other aliens will go below 1.30  ;D

Will have a play and decide on something fun before tomorrow  8)

Have taken the TR4 (with roof) and Fezza out and both are running 1:31.2s on full race setups. Fezza has the slight laptime advantage but is much harder to keep the speed up in as it has terrible brakes and a distinct lack of grip  ;D

Will hopefully try the other 3 tomorrow afternoon...

Yeah I think the Fezza is fastest too, but it has little margin for error!

Great turnout tonight :- ))

Unfortunately I scraped a wall and the car was too hard to drive after that.

The damage in P&G3 may be more realistic, but it takes some of the fun out of it, if you're 'doomed' by making 1 minor mistake.

Stupid mistake when coming up to lap Jules, just got a wheel on the grass & lost control, ended up over the barriers. Fortunately there were no spectators there! Been racing long enough now that I should have learnt to be a bit more patient.  ::)

I think that race was always going to be difficult, sorry Geoffers I think I was going way too slow to continue that race, I had suspension damage. Also sorry too Bill on the line, I was waiting for the 321 go to come up, but its PnG  :oops:

Pretty bad race for me then  :(

Great comeback race for me. :thumbup2:

Started 6th & was going to finish 6th (despite gaining & losing many places along the way through many good scraps!), till a couple of the lads went wide into the sand just before the final chicane. As they recovered I slipped through the middle of them & held on for the last lap.

Impressive field size & great to be back, thanks for organising & will see you again real soon. 8)

Never a good track for me, although in V3 land it was a lot more fun.

Had a good opening few laps until the inevitable wheel on grass moments, but then had a very nice scrap with Matt. The grunty fezza and the more nimble TR providing some classic racing  8)

Excellent turnout fellas!! The race was action all the way through. I got a good start and was able to get around Tim's Ferrari. The first lap was getting hot and heavy up front and we were like 4 cars fitting into a 2 car spot at Lavant corner. I got a small bump from Tim which upset me enough for a quick off. Dropped back to 11th place and got to work. Was working hard through the whole run to make up time. Had several good battles with Simon,Legzy and SuperSwift 8). Then coming towards the end I was able to run down Clive who I could see was struggling with tires. When entering Woodcote I saw Clive get out of shape but even with me on the binders before the tank slapper started I could not avoid a touch. This I believe upset SuperSwift as well which caused a lost spot. So very sorry to both of you chaps. Also tough luck Geoffers :-[. On the positive side it was a action packed race with some great tight racing all the way through. I hope we can have this sort of turnout everytime ;D. A big congrats goes to FMG for the Win and to JohnW for a solid second place ;D. Cheers boys :)

Excellent turn-out and great racing, thanks guys!

From my 7th spot on the grid, I soon found myself in 4th position after the first lap chasing Clive and later even 2nd position after John spun his Healey and Clive had a “moment”. Of course halfway trough the race John came back, but after he successfully passed me, he couldn’t really get rid of me until I made an error. Nice to see the racing differences between the TR4 and Healey and thanks for the driving tips John!

Last part of the race was a nice battle between the TR4's of Clive, Legzy, Navin and mine. We all had our "moments", but that's racing. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who had a lot of fun!

I find it's always best to do a quick qualify, start, and pitstop offline so one knows where everthing is. Being a left foot clutch man I didn't stand a chance to avoid you - with Elite it's right foot to floor as you left foot off  clutch, tyres bite and you rocket away.  As lots of drivers commented damage is so realistic I don' t think I'll finish many races.  Found at final chicane, in initial practice,  I kept over revving as I selected 1st gear - problem I've never experienced before on GTL, GTR or PnG.  Have to learn to slow down more before dropping down gears under braking.

Pleased with qualifying new PB, but the race was useless as I couldn't get the car to turn in at corners  kept rubbing along the scenery.  Exited when I saw Geoffers et al on the track coming my way.

What an inspired track choice for the BHC season opener! And with a very healthy turnout the race couldn't fail to be a crowd pleaser. My qually pace was as I expected and it seemed like I was in the company of the usual suspects so was confident that I would do well  ;)
A good start took me up the rankings and I'm confident that there is where I would have stayed. However at the end of lap 1 at Woodcote it seemed from my in-car perspective that I had tapped Rob Venn and he had gone of into the gravel. Being the perfect gentlemen driver I did a volunteery drive thru penalty which bought me back on track almost last. The replay shows that Rob was the creator of his own misshap and so I had taken a needless penalty  :(
Still the remainder of the race was epic with loads of crawling up the field action. Pleased to have finished at all actually as the tyres of my TR4 were very second hand by the time I crossed the line.
Nice to see some old faces returning too.
Jules, it's all about learning and not making the same mistakes again.

Unofficial LapChart (http://www.justanotherpage.nl/Srou/PnG/GTR2_goodwood_2013_1_3_20_49/)

Had some nice battles (Mr. Venn, Matt, GT), all clean and fair.
Unfortunately real life intervened and I had to park the car in the pit.
Probably didn't put the car in neutral so the little Triumph spluttered into Nirwana... race over.

Great turnout, great cars, great track..  :thumbup1:

No problem Navin, I am absolutely certain that it was not intended.

However, I have submitted an incident report as I would like to have a mod's ruling on the incident for future reference.
